18．Traditional fairytales are being abandoned by parents because they are too scary for their young children，a study found．
    Research revealed one in five parents has ditched old classics such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Rapunzel in favour of more modern books．One third of parents said their children have been left in tears after hearing the horrible details of Little Red Riding Hood．And nearly half of mothers and fathers refuse to read Rumplestiltskin to their kids as the themes of the story are kidnapping and execution．Similarly，Goldilocks and the Three Bears was also a tale likely to be left on the book shelf as parents felt it forgives stealing．
    The survey of 2，000 adults was conducted to mark the launch of the hit US drama GRIMM，which starts tonight at 9pm on Watch，and sees six episodes based on traditional fairytales．The poll found a quarter of parents polled wouldn't consider reading a fairytale to their child until they had reached the age of five，as they prompt too many awkward questions from their offspring．
Steve Hornsey，General Manager of Watch，said："Bedtime stories are supposed to soothe children and send them off to sleep soundly．But as we see in GRIMM，fairytales can be dark and dramatic tales so it's understandable that parents worry about reading them to young children．"
"As adults we can see the innocence in fairytales，but a five year old with an over active imagination could take things too seriously．Despite the dark nature of classic fairytales，as we see in GRIMM，good will triumph over evil and there is always a moral to the story．"
   The study also found two thirds of mums and dads try to avoid stories which might give their children nightmares．
   However，half of parents said traditional tales are more likely to have a strong moral message than a lot of modern kids'books，such as The Gruffalo，The Hungary Caterpillar and the Mr．Men books．

The 1983version of Death of a Salesman was directed personally by Arthur Miller on a visit to China，with Beijing director and actor Ying Ruocheng as the main character of Willy Loman．On May 7，1983，the play was performed for the first time at the Capital Theatre，and the first series of performances lasted until August 18，with over 50performances，some of which filled the house，and all of which had great influence．
When it was first performed here，China didn't have"salesman"，so the actors had to use their imagination to represent the characters and American society，and the audiences weren't entirely sure about some information．For example，they couldn't understand what"fixed payments"were，or why，if Willy was a lower-class member of American society，his family had a house，car，refrigerator，and television．But this didn't stop the play from becoming a widely-known page in Beijing's theatre history．

13．Almost 200 countries met for two weeks in Copenhagen，Denmark at a United Nations conference on climate change．It was due to conclude a deal designed to set a carbon cutting framework to cover 2012-2050．In the end，only five of them reached an agreement：the United States，China，India，Brazil and South Africa．

But the agreement is not legally binding（約束）．It fails to set detailed targets for cuts in carbon emissions．And it failed to earn the support of all the nations at the talks．
India's environment minister praised the united position taken by India，China，Brazil and South Africa．He said it permitted them to avoid the legally binding targets and international supervision proposed by developed countries．
India has promised to cut emissions by at least twenty percent but they say rich nations created the problem，so they should take most of the responsibility for reducing greenhouse gases．
China rejected accusations that it was responsible for the results at Copenhagen．A Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said developed countries didn't perform well at the talks．She said China has taken its own measures to fight climate change and supports pressing ahead with international cooperation．
China and other large developing countries have accused rich nations of failing to offer big enough cuts in their own emissions．They also say wealthy nations did not offer enough money and technology to help poor countries deal with climate change．
In Europe，politicians and environmentalists expressed deep disappointment that world leaders failed to reach a stronger agreement．United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says the Copenhagen Accord is only a beginning，and that he will work with world leaders to reach a legally binding treaty（條約） in the coming months．
