Life is like potato salad;when it’s shared it becomes a picnic.
When my three children were young,my husband,Roy, and I were very 1 ,even on weekends.
“Can we go on a picnic,Mom?” my six-year-old daughter,Becky begged (祈求) . “Please. ”
I had said no so many times in the 2 months, and I decided the usual Saturday morning chores could wait. To her 3 ,I agreed.
I prepared a few sandwiches and 4 a cooler with ice and drinks and called Roy 5 . My eleven- year-old twin sons put the cooler and the picnic basket in the trunk and off we went to spend some 6 time together as a family.
About the time I got the lunch spread out (鋪開(kāi)) on the 7 ,Roy arrived just 8 .
That was one of the happiest meals we ever shared together. The meal was filled with laughter. We felt a closeness that had been hidden by work and school 9 for so many months. Roy and the boys skipped rocks into the lake. Becky fed the ducks and I sat quietly at the picnic table,10 God for blessing me with such a wonderful family.
That night as our 11 went to bed,I kissed their cheeks and realized what a wonderful life I had.
As I walked out of the room I realized that even during the busiest 12 we could have a picnic when it's shared with the ones you love.
Even though the kids have now grown up and 13 from home,I can still remember how I felt that day while sitting at the picnic table.
Maybe today would be a good time to 14 potato salad,so call all of my grown kids, feed some hungry ducks and skipped a few rocks into the lake. Since life is like potato salad, let's make it a 15 .(浙 江省杭州市2011—2012學(xué)年八年級(jí)第二學(xué)期全科競(jìng)賽英語(yǔ)試卷)

How to Teach a Child Respect
As a child grows out of being an infant(嬰兒)and begins to notice and react to the world around them, you may find yourself wondering how you possibly pass all of the things that they need to become a responsible, respectful adult. 1. A child who learns to respect all he meets not only receives respect from others in kind, but learns to respect himself as well.
Instructions
★ Show your child respect. This is perhaps the best way to teach your child how to respect others. Listen to your child by giving her your full attention and she will learn to listen to you, understanding how important this is in relationships.
★ 2. The more you say “please” and “thank you” to your child, the more likely he will learn to use them with you and others. Politeness then becomes a normal part of any conversation.
★ Agree to disagree. 3. Explain your decision so that she will understand your reasoning and expect respectful responses. Disagreeing with you doesn’t equate to disobedience.
★ Control your impulse to overreact. When a situation arises between you and your child that requires calmness, keep in mind that you are supposed to be modeling correct behavior. 4.
★ Praise, praise, praise! So much is focused on what a child does wrong and how to correct it that the accomplishments are not celebrated enough. 5.
A.Teach your child manners by using polite requests and responses.
B.Try to remember that a child won’t always agree with you.
C.Respect is necessary for a meaningful and successful life.
D.If he sees you lose your temper, he is more likely to respond that way in future.
E.A child may act like he pleases, but will respect being given limits.
F.When you see your child exhibit respectful behavior, make sure he knows just how proud you are of him.
G.Signs such as sudden poor performance in school, behaviors like fears and threats accompany behavior problems in children.
