One of my fondest memories as a child is going by the river and sitting idly on the bank. I would also watch the bamboo trees 4under pressure from the wind and watch them5gracefully to their original position after the wind had6.
When I think about the bamboo tree's ability to bounce back to its original position, the word "resilience" comes to mind. When used in7to a person this word means the ability to readily8from shock, depression or any other situation that stretches the limits of a person's9.

A17of hope will take you through the unpleasant ordeal (考驗). With 18for a better tomorrow or a better situation, things may not be as bad as they seem to be. The unpleasant ordeal may be easier to19if the final result is worth having.

I tried to explain about the pen, but all she could say was that it seemed very strange to her that I hadn’t18anything about the pen the day she talked to me right after the test.
19I tried to explain that I was just doing the girl a favor20letting her use my pen, I am sure she continued to believe that I had cheated in the test.
