The 13my father taught me that day became one of the most 14in my life.
Years passed. I married and had a family of my own. In 1986, my father became seriously ill. He 15told me that when he died, he wanted to donate 16was in good condition, especially his eyes.
My father died and we donated his eyes 17he had wanted. Three days later, my daughter said, “Mum, I’m so 18of what you did for Grandpa. At that moment I realized that my father gave much more than his 19. What he 20behind sparkled in my daughter’s eyes — pride.

科目:高中英語 來源: 題型:完形填空

When I met Mr Jim Lemon I was a seventeen-year-old freshman at Houston's Jackson Junior High. The chances of my finishing high school were 1. I was a troubled teenage.
Mr Lemon taught American history and was quite 2from the other teachers I had known. Not only was he 3, but also he was a great teacher. He pushed and never tolerated the mediocrity(平庸) that had become my standard.
On the occasion of our first semester report cards, Mr Lemon 4me aside and asked how it was possible that I was a B student in his class and a C student in the 5of my classes. I passionately told him about my 6parents, the local gangs, the drugs, the fights, the police---all of the evils I had been 7to. It was then that Mr Lemon 8explained that the only person 9for my situation was me. And the only person with the 10to change my situation was me. He 11me that I was failing not because I was a failure. He inspired me to become a better student and he 12my life.

I'11 never forget his 15. He said,"Who is this again?" I was just one of hundreds of the students whose life he changed 16he had no idea of his influence.
Mr Lemon never came to my graduation, but his 17taught me another valuable lesson. His final lesson for me was that we will never know or understand the 18we have on other people's lives. He taught me that we all have the 19to effect people's lives for the 20... Or for the worse.
