范文:

Dear Mr/Mrs/Miss Wang,

I’m sorry  we have a disagreement on novel reading. You said that our textbooks are already a heavy burden, and  we should not waste our time on those “useless” novels.

As we know, many novels help us to broaden our horizon, and some help us to understand the difficult and dark side of life. However, there are still many bad novels which give wrong ideas and superstitious beliefs, which act as poison to our minds. What’s worse, those wrong ideas may lead us to do very foolish things.

In my opinion, novel reading is not absolutely a waste of time, for we may obtain knowledge which we cannot gain from text-books. What is important is that we need to tell which books are worth reading. Please trust me. I will make good use of time.

                                                           Yours,

                                                   Xiao Kai
