As is known to all that the same body language may have different meaning in different cultures. If we don t use body language properly, we may be misunderstanding.
Last year I had a holiday in Thailand. I was walking in the street while I saw a boy falling down. I quickly ran over, help him stand up and patted him on the head. Surprisingly, he seemed very much angry and walked away. I had meant to comfort him with the way we Chinese usually do. Later, I know that it’s impolite to pat a child’s head in Thailand. I feel it is time that I learn more about other cultures.
Obviously body language is an important part of international communication. Only when we know more about other cultures can we have better understanding of foreigners.
that the same body language may have different meanings in different cultures.
see sb. do sth.
very much修飾動詞, very修飾形容詞,這里修飾形容詞,所以very much改成very。
的方式”,用in,所以with改成in。
It's time + that clause 時,that可省略,time可由high, about修飾,從句中的謂語動詞有兩種形式,或者用動詞的過去式(be用were);或者用should + 動詞原形(should不能省略)。 所以learn改成learned或者should learn。
a better understanding of更好地理解,是固定用法,所以better前面加a。

A new study suggests that the more teenagers watch television, the more likely they are to develop depression (憂郁) as young adults.
The researchers used a national long-term survey of adolescent health to survey the relationship between media (媒體) use and depression. They based their findings on more than 4,000 adolescents who were not depressed when the survey began.
As part of the survey, the young people were asked how many hours of television or videos they watched daily. They were also asked how often they played computer games and listened to the radio. Media use totaled an average of five and one-half hours a day. More than two hours of that was spent watching TV.
Seven years later, more than seven percent of the young people had signs of depression. The average age at that time was twenty-one. The researchers say they did not find any such relationship with the use of other media such as movies, video games or radio, etc. But the study did find that every extra hour of television meant an eight percent increase in the chances of developing signs of depression. Young men were more likely than young women to develop depression given the same amount of media use.
Last December, a popular magazine published a study of activities that help lead to happy lives. Researchers from the University of Maryland found that people who describe themselves as happy spend less time watching television than unhappy people. The study found that happy people are more likely to be socially active, to join in outdoor activities and to hang out with friends.

A. Movies and video games may cause depression.
B. Less than 7% of the young people became depressed.
C. An increase in television watching raises the risk of depression.

【3】According to the passage, what can we conclude?
A. Teenagers should not watch television any longer.
B. Teenagers play more video games instead of watching TV.
C. Teenagers should be active in taking part in outdoor activities.
D. Teenagers should be more active in reading magazines and newspapers.

I attended to a summer school in London this summer. Once we had a debate on “Which is better, a blog or a book?” We were divided two groups. My group supported blogs. During the heating discussion, I pointed out that blogs were better than books for their convenience and low price. Then another student from the same group added, “A blog also builds connections between the writer and the readers, and between the readers who feelings are similarly by comments and replies. This communication further adds up a good social order.”
It suddenly occurs to me that all the reasons I had given were just based on the benefits of one side—the readers. And my classmate considered the connection between people and society as the whole, which impressed me a lot.

Dear David,
I’m happy that you’re interesting in our flea market and here is a brief of introduction of it.
To raise students’ aware of making the most of used things, the Students’ Union held a flea market on campus recent. The event attracted a crowd from the whole school, who come here to sell, purchase or swap used goods with their schoolmate. On the market, you could find vary things, from second-hand textbooks, magazines to CDs, bikes or clothes at a lower price.
In my opinion, the flea market not only provides a platform save resources but also helps students learn some practical skills, where may be useful for their future job hunting.
Yours,
Li Hua
