【題目】At the beginning of the World Series of 1947,I experienced a completely new emotion, when the National Anthem was playedThis time,I thoughtit is being played for me,as much as for anyone elseThis is organized major league baseball, and I am standing here with all the others;and everything that takes place includes me.

About a year later,I went to AtlantaGeorgia,to play in an exhibition gameOn the field, for the first time in Atlanta, there were Negroes and whitesOther Negroesbesides meAnd I thought: What I have always believed has come to be.

And what is it that I have always believed? Firstthat imperfections are humanBut that wherever human beings were given room to breathe and time to think, those imperfections would disappear,no matter how slowlyI do not believe that we have found or even approached perfectionThat is not necessarily in the scheme of human eventsHandicaps, stumbling blocks, prejudices — all of these are imperfectYetthey have to be dealt with because they are in the scheme of human events.

Whatever obstacles I found made me fight all the harderBut it would have been impossible for me to fight at all, except that I was sustained by the personal and deep-rooted belief that my fight had a chanceIt had a chance because it took place in a free societyNot once was I forced to face and fight an immovable objectNot once was the situation so cast-iron rigid that I had no chance at allFree minds and human hearts were at work all around me;and so there was the probability of improvementI look at my children now,and know that I must still prepare them to meet obstacles and prejudices.

But I can tell them, too, that they will never face some of these prejudices because other people have gone before themAnd to myself I can say that, because progress is unalterable, many of today's dogmas (教條)will havevanishedby the time they grow into adultsI can say to my children: There is a chance for youNo guarantee, but a chanceAnd this chance has come to be,because there is nothing static with free peopleThere is no Middle Ages logic so strong that it can stop the human tide from flowing forwardI do not believe that every person,in every walk of lifecan succeed in spite of any handicapThat would be perfectionBut I do believe — and with every fiber in me — that what I was able to attain came to be because we put behind us no matter how slowlythe dogmas of the past: to discover the truth of today;and perhaps find the greatness of tomorrow.

I believe in the human raceI believe in the warm heartI believe in man's honestyI believe in the goodness of a free societyAnd I believe that the society can remain good only as long as we are willing to fight for it — and to fight against whatever imperfections may existMy fight was against the barriers that kept Negroes out of baseballThis was the area where I found imperfection, and where I was best able to fightAnd I fought because I knew it was not doomed to be a losing fightIt couldn't be a losing fight-not when it took place in a free societyAnd in the largest sense,I believe that what I did was done for me — that it was my faith in God that sustained me in my fightAnd that what was done for me must and will be done for others.

根據(jù)第一段“I am standing here with all the others;and everything that take splace in cludes me”可知,作者終于能和其他人一樣,站在職業(yè)棒球大聯(lián)盟球賽的賽場上,成為這一切的一部分,故選C。

2D細節(jié)理解。根據(jù)第二段“Ot her Negroes besides me.And I thought:What I havea l ways believed has come to be.”

和最后一段“I be lieve in the human race. I be lieve in the warm heart. Ibelieveinman'shonesty.Ibelieveinthegoodnessofafreesociety.”可知,文章主要講的是作者一直堅守的信念,作者堅信社會上存在的偏見、障礙等不合理的事物都會隨著社會的進步而消失,作者一直在為此而戰(zhàn)斗著。D自由思想與心靈的作用符合文意,故選D

【題目】While astronauts in space get to do many exciting things, they miss out on ordinary things that we all take for granted—being able to walk on firm ground, hanging out with family and digging into a slice of hot steaming pizza. Though not much can be done about the first two things, there may soon be a solution to the third one, thanks to this cool 3-D pizza printer!

About a year ago, NASA offered $125 ,000 to Anjan Contractor, a 3-D technology expert, to build a device (設備) that would allow astronauts to make pizza on demand. The mechanical engineer promised that his invention would produce pies in large quantities that looked, tasted and even smelled like pizza made in common ovens.

Late last year, the engineer presented a video of his first prototype (原型) that begins by creating a single slice of dough (面團) that is cooked and printed at the same time. Then comes the tomato “sauce” a mix of tomato powder, oil and water and finally, a protein slice that resembles cheese. While the video doesn’t show the baking process, the inventor says that once the pizza is printed, it can be ready to be consumed in 7 seconds.

While the pie in the video looks delicious enough to attract any pizza lover, Anjan Contractor is far from ready for astronauts. That’s because he still has to find a solution to make the food container in the printer last for 30 years. Though that may sound unrealistic, actually it is not.

Anjan Contractor believes that the only way that is possible is that the water is removed from all the ingredients (料) and then they are reduced to the powder form. This, as you can imagine, will not be so easy. But, while the printer may not be ready for space, it certainly looks ready enough for people on earth. Hopefully, NASA and Contractor will consider selling it to those not fortunate enough to go to Mars!

1 Why does the author mention the things that astronauts in space cannot do?

A. To ask us not to take common things for granted.

B. To show they live a difficult life there.

C. To show their life is boring in space.

D. To introduce the topic of the text.

A. create some new type of 3-D printer

B. attract more companies to work for NASA

C. help astronauts in space enjoy fresh pizza one day

D. produce pizza in large quantities to earn great profits

3The biggest challenge that Anjan Contractor is faced with now is probably that _______.

A. he has no money left to go on with his research

B. the pizza doesn’t seem appetizing to pizza lovers

C. he has no way to make pizza that can last for thirty years

D. he cannot make the food container last for decades

4 What’s the best title of the passage?

A. NASA is trying its best to help astronauts eat better

B. Astronauts may soon be able to enjoy steaming hot pizza

C. NASA is working on making pizza for common people

D. A 3-D pizza printer has been used to make pizza
