Facebook means never having to say goodbye. The social media web site has earned a reputation for reconnecting old friends. Last week,a guy whom I hadn't seen since my bachelor  party five years ago sent me a friend request. I accepted and waited for "Easy E" to send me a  greeting of some kind. He had sought me out, after all.

I learned from his profile that he was in a relationship and had a son. However,I'm pretty sure we won't ever write wall―to―wall, let alone e―mail each other. But he'll remain  a friend of online until one of us makes a point of removing the other from his official list.

My pool of friends consists of family members, college buddies,co―workers from past and  present, and friends of friends. There are 35 in all. If I spent some time uploading old e―mail  addresses,I'm confident that I could increase my friend count actually.

A person could make a mission out of reconnecting with childhood friends, former  classmates, distant cousins, and those one would like to get to know better. And some people  can even handle hundreds of on―screen relationships, keeping up with the daily happenings of  their small army of companions. After all, there are worse fates than having too many friends.

Thanks to e―mail, the inability to schedule face―to―face meetings no longer means a  friendship must come to a close. But even with e―mail, people will lose touch if one or both  parties stop writing back. That's normal. People move from school to school, job to job, city  to city. You never have to feel guilty for breaking away.

Every day,the masterminds of Web 2. 0 find new ways of making human communication  easier. However, convenience Call be a crutch(拐杖). Some things shouldn't be simplified. When it comes to friendship, there can be no shortcts.

I really hadn’t meant to yell at them. But that grey afternoon saw it just as my son and daughter were making a terrible mess on the floor in the kitchen.

With a tiresome report to write, I felt bothered at my desk. Suddenly, it occurred to me that my kids were at fault. A voice inside me insisted that I do something quickly.

“OK, you two here, but what an awful thing you are attempting!” Shouting angrily, I made for them, while it became evident that the boy wanted no part of me. “Get away from us!” he shouted back, there being expression of support from his sister.

All of a sudden, I found the fault in myself. Quickly I shaped my hands into pincers (螃蟹鰲) and crawled towards them, “Crabby Daddy is here. Ha, Ha, Ha, he likes to yell at children, and then eat them!” My son continued to keep me away, but now he was laughing and crying at the same time. My mission to repair the damage caused by my yelling seemed to work well. Still, I regretted not having controlled myself first in a right way that my children could do after.

Need I let them know how badly they were acting by blaming? This is a lesson that serves myself. It only shows just how to get rid of something (ill-feeling, responsibility…) by blaming others. It’s not my “best self”.

We have to search for our “best self” when with our children. They don’t need perfect parents, but they do need parents who are always trying to get better. Here, I’m reminded of the words of a great thinker. “When a man lives with God, his voice shall be as sweet as the murmur of the brook…” Then, in our lifetime, couldn’t we always speak to our kids in such a sweet voice since most of us consider them as the most precious in the world? And before we reach this level, what should we do when we come across various difficult cases with our children?

68. The author couldn’t help yelling at his kids this time probably because ______.

       A. the weather was so unpleasant

       B. he was tired of his boring work

       C. the kids didn’t ask him to join them

       D. a Daddy has his right to do so

69. Which of the following made the author aware of his fault?

       A. No obvious reason.   B. The boy’s yelling back.

       C. His self-awareness.   D. The girl’s expression.

70. According to the passage, the author will ______ in another similar situation.

       A. play a crab again like this time  B. apologize to kids in a sincere way

       C. avoid blaming kids in a hurry    D. beat them up about such things

71. What will the writer go on to write about in the next paragraph(s)?

       A. How to behave ourselves properly when kids are at fault.

       B. How to blame our children in a more interesting way.

       C. How to deal with the terrible mess made by our kids.

       D. How to persuade children to do what they are told to.

When people get bad toothaches, they often have to eat soft, easily chewed food. When lions get bad toothaches, they eat people? That' s the conclusion of a zoologist at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago and a dentist who works on carnivores (食肉動(dòng)物)., Lions don’t normally prey on people. Every once in a while, however, a lion will go on a human-eating diet. The most famous such tragedy happened in 1898, when two lions killed and ate 135 railway workers in Kenya.

Examining the preserved skulls (骷髏) of the two big cats, zoologist Bruce Patterson and dentist Ellis Neiburger found that both animals had been suffering from several dental and |aw problems. One lion had three missing teeth and a loose, unsteady lower canine that was probably useless. Canines are pointed teeth that hunting animals use for gripping and piercing prey(刺穿獵物)) .The two lions might have been so badly disabled that they couldn’t bite down forcefully, say the researchers. Consequently, the lions might have abandoned their normal, more difficult prey and turned to humans. "Humans are easy preys, " said Patterson. "We're very slow, we don’t hear very well, and we don* t see very well in the darkness. "

The research calls their idea the Infirmity Theory. It was inspired partly by the work of Jim Corbett, a tiger hunter in India in the 1930s. Corbett was regularly called in to hunt tigers that had been dining on Indian villagers. Time after time, Patterson discovered that the killer tigers were suffering from some ill-healthy conditions.

A. ways of protecting wild animals           B. ways of treating toothaches of lions

C. when and where lions eat people          D. reasons for some lions eating people

A. that they like wild preys better              B. they just hunt for prey at night,

C. that humans are difficult to catch          D. not mentioned in the passage

66. Jim Corbett' story is mentioned in the last paragraph to show that ____.

A. tigers have the same eating habits and preys as lions

B. carnivores hunt people mostly under ill-healthy conditions

C. tigers like hurting villagers while lions like railway workers

D. wild animals swallow humans when they suffer from toothaches   .

67. The best title of the passage could be ____.

A. A Zoologist And a Dentist                     B. Why Do Some Wild Animals Eat People

C. A Discovery of the Skulls of Lions        D. How Can Health Influence Eating Habits
