第四句 event改成events

第五句 On改成At;give 后面加上 a

第六句 Followed改成Following

第七句 was改成is

第八句 But改成 And;Which改成where/in which

【解析】

1.考查形容詞。Be動詞are后面用形容詞做表語,故把第一句 happily改成happy。

2.考查固定結(jié)構(gòu)。As you know,---,眾所周知,故第二句 刪掉it。

3.考查時態(tài)。句意:眾所周知,我們學(xué)校有百年的歷史。由此可知句子用一般現(xiàn)在時態(tài),故把had改成has。

4.考查名詞復(fù)數(shù)。根據(jù)several可知后面的名詞用復(fù)數(shù)形式,故把event改成events。

5.考查介詞。表示在幾點鐘at,故把第五句 On改成At。

Women make better drivers than men for many reasons. Why is that? If you ask me, I’d like to say, men know that women are better drivers but do not have the courage to admit the truth—women are queens of the road.

Unlike men, women stop for directions when they have no idea as to where they are going. We don’t drive around for hours pointlessly wasting a tank of gas only to find ourselves heading in the wrong direction. Have you ever been in a car with a man who is lost? He tells you to shut up when you begin to open your mouth. And every five minutes or so he takes a turn going forty-five miles per hour only to find out he’s made another wrong turn.

Speeding is what men do best on the road. There is a reason why men get more speeding tickets than women. Not because we trick to get out of tickets but only because we don’t get pulled over as frequently. We don’t speed. We have more intelligence than senselessly to put our own lives as well as the lives of others in danger.

My largest issue with male drivers is how a majority of them drive with one hand on the wheel and the other hand doing only God knows what. The seat is backed as far as possible, and they’re totally lost into loud music beyond a necessary level. You don’t ever see women driving like that.

I feel that the above evidence more than proves my points that women are not only better drivers but also safer drivers than men. We women rule the road. Oh, and men, if you want to continue criticizing(批評)women for being bad drivers, bring it on.

1If a woman driver feels lost, she will .

A. stop the car and ask people for help

B. take the wrong turns at a high speed

C. tell the man next to her to shut up

D. drive aimlessly for hours without stopping

2According to Paragraph 4, men drivers worries the writer most.

A. making jokes about women

B. not paying full attention

C. not stopping for directions

D. getting more speeding tickets

3What is the passage about?

A. Women stop for directions.

B. Men make better drivers than Women.

C. Women make better drivers than men.

D. Women rule the road.

【題目】 You may be surprised to learn that English gets 30 to 45 percent of its words from French. The reason goes back to the year 1066, when Norman forces invaded (入侵) what is now Britain. The Normans were from northern France and spoke French. During the Norman occupation, French became the language of England’s rulers and wealthy class. This lasted for more than 300 years. Other people in England continued to speak English during this period.

Over time, the two languages combined and shared words. Some researchers believe that about 10,000 French words eventually entered the English language. However, although English took many French words, their meanings have not always stayed the same. Sometimes the differences in meanings can be very important, and lead to funny or strange situations if the words are used in the wrong way.

Take, for example, the French word college. In English, college can often be used in place of the word university, or sometimes as a school within a university. However, in French, college actually means “middle school”, or the level of schooling for students in grades five or six through eight.

There are many other similar words in the two languages with completely different meanings. In English, the word chat is a verb which means “to talk casually”; but in French, the word chat is the word for an animal: a cat.

If an English speaker says someone is jolly, that means they are cheerful or friendly. But in French, jolie means someone is goodlooking or pleasant to look at. In any case, both are nice things to say to someone.

1What language did the upper class speak in Britain of Norman times ?

A. English.

B. French.

C. Both English and French.

D. Some unknown language.

2What does college mean in French?

A. The teenager time.

B. University in French.

C. Middle school in English.

D. University in common sense.

3What is the text mainly about?

A. Comparison between two languages.

B. Difficulty in grasping English.

C. French words in English.

D. Development of English.
