Where to eat

There are a number of different places to eat in the shopping center.

The Noodle House is small, but very popular. The noodle soup tastes very good, and the fried noodles with roast pork are delicious. Everything is clean and the staffs are friendly. Prices are good too, but you may have to wait quite a long time as the restaurant is so busy.

Roma is a new restaurant. It is very smart, but the pizzas here do not taste good. We didn’t eat our fish as it smelled bad. The waiters looked angry and we thought it was very expensive. This restaurant has to improve.

The Tokyo Restaurant has been here for many years, and the staffs bow to customers when they enter and are very kind. The fish is very fresh and most of the food is delicious. The amount of food you get is quite small, but it always looks nice on the plate.

The Golden Dragon is a large Chinese restaurant. It has a lot of different food. The sweet and sour pork is excellent, the Beijing Duck is famous, and the winter melon soup is good. Go there for a really good meal, but expect to pay a lot. Prices are high.

The Come in Coffee Shop is very modern. There are many sorts of coffee and if you like sweet things, wait until you taste their cakes and cookies! You can also have sandwiches —— I enjoyed the egg sandwiches a lot. They have modern music playing , but it is very noisy, so it is quite difficult to have a conversation.

In my mind, there is a moving story about a skinny young boy who loved football with all his heart.

All through high school he never missed a practice nor a game but remained a benchwarmer. Besides, his faithful father was always in the stands, always with words of encouragement for him. When the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a “walk—on”. Everyone firmly believed that he could never make the cut, but he did.

The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father. His father shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years at college, but actually he never got the real chance to play in a game.

It was at the end of his senior football season that the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and he became totally silent. Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, “My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?” The coach put his arm gently around his should and said, “Take the rest of the week off, son. And don’t even plan to come back to the game on Saturday.”

Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter, when the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines (邊線), the coach and his players were surprised to see their faithful teammate back so soon. “Coach, please let me play. I’ve just got to play today,” said the young man.

The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his worst player in this close play—off game. The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this kid got a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown.

Finally, after the stands had emptied, the coach noticed that this young man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to him and said, “Kid, you were unbelievably fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?”

He looked at the coach, tears in his eyes, and said “Well, you knew my had died, but did you know that my dad was blind?” The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, “Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could make it!”

The participants focused only on lung cancer, ignoring other potential harm of smoking. the researchers wrote.

A national study published four years ago found that annual CT screening for lung cancer three years in a row could reduce deaths among heavy smokers by about 20 percent.In an interview, Dr. Russell P. Harris, a preventive medicine specialist at the UNC-Chapel Hill. noted that "screening is being believed by people as an alternative to stopping smoking. But stopping smoking would have huge benefits for the individual and society." Furthermore, smoking causes many other cancers.

Dr. Harris agreed that rather than screening money is better spent on smoking prevention. He suggested providing free stop-smoking aids. sponsoring anti-smoking advertising and raising taxes on tobacco products and the age at which people are allowed to buy them.
