Are you satisfied with your life? How often do you think of reasons why everyone around you is successful though they are not usually better than you? What do you do wrong? Here are some things you should stop doing to be successful.
1)
Different people may interpret “success” in different ways: some of them measure it in money, other ones — in positive changes to people around them and the world. And do not worry about what other people think, and come after what makes you happy.
2)Do not believe anything without questioning it.
They are critical thinkers, and they understand that we are all ruled by our prejudices; so, they will always question new information.
3)Do not worry about all unpredictable things that may happen to you.
If you want to be successful, stop thinking about everything that MAY happen to you. Be ready to change your deeds and decisions when things suddenly don't go according to your plan.
4)Do not care about what other people think of you.
Your attempts to become “good” for everyone will turn into nothing but new worries, stresses, and problems. Successful people do not concentrate on quantity of people to please, but worry about their quality and focus on developing friendships with people they really care about.
Success is good, but you should understand that life will get depressing without friendship and love.
A. Try to feel comfortable with the reality and accept the fact your future can't be predicted.
B. Do not let others decide what “success” is for you.
C. As far as we all know, it's impossible to please all the people who surround us.
D. Do not wait for the “right time” to do anything.
E. Successful people never ignore or avoid problems, no matter how big and awful they seem.
F. Successful people do not just accept any new information to be true.
G. If you want to be successful, do not let others force their interpretation of success on you.

【題目】Discovery’s astronauts arrived to an exciting celebration Wednesday as nearly 700 people crowded an airplane storage place, waving flags and holding signs that read: “Welcome Home, Astronauts!”
The seven-person team returned to Earth on Tuesday after being the first to take a space shuttle into orbit since the Columbia disaster(災(zāi)難) of 2003.
“In the last two and a half years, we have been through the very worst that manned space flight can bring us, and over the past two weeks we have seen the very best,” NASA Administrator Michael Griffin told the astronauts and their families and fans Wednesday.
The crowd waved American flags for the U.S. astronauts and Japanese flags for crew member Soichi Noguchi, one of the spacewalkers.
“As a rookie(新手)astronaut, I could not ask for more,” Noguchi said, “We had three spacewalks, two extra days in space and one great team.”
While the homecoming has been filled with excitement for what mission controllers declared a “truly spectacular test flight”, uncertainty remains for the future of the shuttle program.
Shortly after Discovery rose up into space July 26, a nearly 1-pound large piece of foam insulation(泡沫絕緣材料) fell from the fuel tank—the very thing that was supposed to have been fixed after Columbia exploded. The foam missed Discovery, but NASA grounded all shuttle flights until engineers fix the problem.
NASA ground crews examined Discovery after its return from orbit and found it in good condition, an official said Wednesday at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
Technicians counted 101 dings and divots, including 20 that were larger than 1 inch. Schaaf Dean, landing support group chief, said the numbers were similar to the results of other shuttle, post-landing examinations.
A beginning examination of the shuttle’s thermal(熱的)blanket showed it remained undamaged during re-en-try into the Earth’s air.(Agencies)

【題目】根據(jù)短文理解,選擇正確答案。
When my brother and I were young, my mom would take us on Transportation Days.
It goes like this: You can't take any means of transportation more than once. We would start from home, walking two blocks to the rail station. We'd take the train into the city center, then a bus, switching to the tram, then maybe a taxi. We always considered taking a horse carriage in the historic district, but we didn't like the way the horses were treated, so we never did. At the end of the day, we took the subway to our closest station, where Mom's friend was waiting to give us a ride home — our first car ride of the day.
The good thing about Transportation Days is not only that Mom taught us how to get around. She was born to be multimodal(多方式的). She understood that depending on cars only was a failure of imagination and, above all, a failure of confidence — the product of a childhood not spent exploring subway tunnels.
Once you learn the route map and step with certainty over the gap between the train and the platform, nothing is frightening anymore. New cities are just light-rail lines to be explored. And your personal car, if you have one, becomes just one more tool in the toolbox — and often an inadequate one, limiting both your mobility and your wallet.
On Transportation Days, we might stop for lunch on Chestnut Street or buy a new book or toy, but the transportation was the point. First, it was exciting enough to watch the world speed by from the train window. As I got older, my mom helped me unlock the mysteries that would otherwise have paralyzed my first attempts to do it myself: How do I know where to get off? How do I know how much it costs? How do I know when I need tickets, and where to get them? What track, what line, which direction, where's the stop, and will I get wet when we go under the river?
I'm writing this right now on an airplane, a means we didn't try on our Transportation Days and, we now know, the dirtiest and most polluting of them all. My flight routed me through Philadelphia. My multimodal mom met me for dinner in the airport. She took a train to meet me.
(1)Which was forbidden by Mom on Transportation Days?
A.Having a car ride.
B.Taking the train twice.
C.Buying more than one toy.
D.Touring the historic district.
(2)According to the writer, what was the greatest benefit of his Transportation Days?
A.Building confidence in himself.
B.Reducing his use of private cars.
C.Developing his sense of direction.
D.Giving his knowledge about vehicles.
(3)The underlined word "paralyzed" (in Para. 5) is closest in meaning to "________".
A.displayed
B.justified
C.ignored
D.ruined
(4)Which means of transportation does the writer probably disapprove of?
A.Airplane.
B.Subway.
C.Tram.
D.Car.

Ahead of so-called Singles' Day on the 11th of this month,2013, online sales have already begun peaking.
The leading e-business platform, tmall.com, has promoted(促銷(xiāo)) its fifty-percent-off discount to attract consumers. They are also trying to attract buyers through social media. Vice President of tmall.com Wang Yulei says more than 20 thousand online stores have joined the Double 11 Day sales. But this number has doubled. The final number of how many products going to be on sale has not been known yet. But so far, many more products planned to be put on shelves with discounts.
During last year's Singles' Day, tmall.com, together with taobao.com, reached a record of 19.1 billion yuan in sales, which considered a milestone in the e-business history of China.
Singles' Day was first started by Chinese college students in the 1990s as the opposite of Valentine's Day, a celebration for people without romantic partners. The timing was based on the date: Nov. 11—or double 11—for singles. Single young people would treat each other to dinner or give gifts to show love to someone and end their single status.
But now, the Singles' Day has been promoted as a kind of grand craze just for the shopping season, thanks to thousands of discounted products being promoted online.
Taobao.com was the first big e-retail platform which used the double 11 idea to promote sales. Taobao.com reached one million yuan worth of sales on that day in 2009, when they first promoted the Singles' Day idea. In 2010, the sales increased to 936 million yuan. The figure climbed up to 5.3 billion yuan in 2011, putting huge demand on shipping services. The figure doubled in 2012.
E-commerce is considered to be replacing the traditional retailing industry, but the reality is both sides are learning from each other.
(1)How much is a dress that is usually sold at 250 yuan during Singles' Day at tmall.com?
A.500.
B.125.

B.E-commerce is going to replace traditional business at the end.
C.Double 11 Day was created to get the single status over for young people.
D.More than 20 thousand products will be provided in the Double 11 Day sales.

A.Singles' Day promotes online sales.
B.Why Singles' Day is so popular.
C.How people celebrate Singles' Day.
D.What the definition of Singles' Day is.
(4)Where do you think is the passage taken from?
A.A science textbook.
B.A newspaper.
C.A travel journal.
