Fake news may even have affected the election．According to a new survey carried out by the Pew Research Center in December，about two in three US adults said fake news stories caused a great deal of confusion about the basic facts of current issues and events．Nearly a quarter of US adults say they have shared a fake news story．
And it's not just US adults who can't identify fake news．A new study from Stanford University suggests that much like adults，US'middle，high school and college students have a hard time identifying real and fake news articles．
As for this problem，Sam Wineburg，lead author of the study，suggested providing students with classes on media literacy skills， which means the ability to evaluate all forms of communication．"Teaching students media literacy skills provides them with the tools needed to be responsible and critical （批判的） readers of media，"commented Scholastic magazine．
