Lulu has been my closest and best friend in the past five years. In fact, he always follow my order especially when I look after other animal friends in our      .
This summer, many forests are damaged by fire. Not far from our shelter, a forest caught fire. Lulu rushed towards the forest where flames sent out terrible      . At that moment, I no longer had any      that Lulu could come back to the shelter.     , I was waiting for the firemen to tell me his death in the forest. Suddenly, a fireman rushed into to tell my office and informed me that my dog Lulu succeeded in      four lovely little      trapped by the flames. According to the fireman, Lulu held the cats in his mouth, one by one moving them to a      place.
Upon knowing this, I      went to the forest with the fireman to      the cats. Once on the scene, we found Lulu wasn’t there. Then we heard the sound of a dog coming from the      . I recognized it was the sound of my dog Lulu. The fireman      the tracks of the dog until he found him barking      by the side of another fireman who was badly hurt. He was lying on the ground and waiting for help.
Thanks to Lulu, four cats and a fireman were saved.
That day, I was vey      of  Lulu for his two heroic actions towards the cats and the fireman. Lulu had pity on both animals like him and a human being who was      to put out the fire with his teammates.
I      the fireman in his house with my dog Lulu. What a memorable      when the fireman hugged Lulu tightly to his chest.
This      story shows us that pets are      and caring. We should love and      them. One day they could      us in return for our kindness. So don’t look down upon little animals.

I lost my sight when I was four years old by falling off a box car in a freight yard in Atlantic City and landing on my head. Now I am thirty two.I can slightly remember the brightness of sunshine and what color red is.It would be wonderful to see again, but a calamity(災(zāi)難) can do strange things to people. It occurred to me the other day that I might not have come to love life as I do if I hadn't been blind.I believe in life now.I am not so sure that I would have believed in it so deeply, otherwise.I don't mean that I would prefer to go without my eyes.I simply mean that the loss of them made me appreciate the more what I had left.
The hardest lesson I had to learn was to believe in myself. That was basic. If I hadn't been able to do that, I would have collapsed and become a chair rocker on the front porch for the rest of my life. When I say belief in myself I am not talking about simply the kind of self confidence that helps me down an unfamiliar staircase alone. That is part of it.But I mean something bigger than that: an assurance that I am, despite imperfections, a real, positive person; that somewhere in the sweeping, intricate(錯(cuò)綜復(fù)雜的) pattern of people there is a special place where I can make myself fit.
It took me years to discover and strengthen this assurance. It had to start with the simplest things.Once a man gave me an indoor baseball.I thought he was making fun of me and I was hurt."I can't use this." I said."Take it with you," he urged me, "and roll it around." The words stuck in my head."Roll it around! "By rolling the ball I could hear where it went. This gave me an idea how to achieve a goal I had thought impossible: playing baseball. At Philadelphia's Overbrook School for the Blind I invented a successful variation of baseball. We called it ground ball.
All my life I have set ahead of me a series of goals and then tried to reach them, one at a time.I had to learn my limitations. It was no good trying for something that I knew at the start was wildly out of reach because that only invited the bitterness of failure.I would fail sometimes anyway but on the average I made progress.

In a special school for the hearing-impaired (聽(tīng)覺(jué)受損的),he learned sign language and got to mix with other disabled children. However, the sight of all the disabled children communicating with one another upset his mother. She wanted him to lead a normal life. This was my grandmother's first Christmas without grandfather, and before he passed away we had promised grandfather that we would make this her best Christmas ever. When my parents and I             at her house, we found she had waited up all night for us. The house did seem a little           without grandfather.
Grandfather had always said that the Christmas           was the most important decoration of all. So we immediately set to work on the beautiful artificial tree that was stored in grandfather's closet (壁櫥). Through our efforts, we finally stepped back to             our handiwork. It looked beautiful.           something was missing.
"Where' s your star?" I asked.
The star was my grandmother' s favorite part of the tree.
"Why, it           be here somewhere," she said, starting to sort through the boxes again. "Your grandfather always           everything so carefully when he took the tree down."
As we emptied the boxes and          no star, my grandmother's eyes filled with tears. Grandfather had given it to grandmother some fifty years ago on their first Christmas together. It brought them great happiness. Now, on her first Christmas without him, the star was          , too.
"Don' t worry, Grandmother," I           her. "We'll find it for you."
My mother and I formed a search          . "Let' s start in on the closet where the ornaments (裝飾品) were," Mother said. "Maybe the star just fell out of the box. "
That sounded         , so I began to search the closet. I thought I tried every        , but no star. I could see grandmother was          , although she tried not to show it.
"What's in this wrapped box?" Mother suddenly called out. "It was at the bottom of father's closet. "
Grandmother took the box in           and opened it. Her face           when she unfolded the paper and pulled out a golden star. There was a(n)           attached.
Don' t be angry with me, dear. I broke your star while packing the decorations, and I couldn't           to tell you. Thought it was time for a new one. I hope it brings you as much         as the first one. Merry Christmas!
Love,
Bryant
So grandmother's tree had a star after all, a star that expressed their everlasting love for one another. And we were glad we were able to make this Christmas           for her.
