In the past ten years, many scientists have studied the differences between men and women. And they all got the same answer: The sexes(性別) are different, because their brains are different. And this, the scientists say, makes men and women see the world in different ways.

Boys, for example, generally are better than girls at mathematical ideas. Boys also generally are better than girls at the kind of hand and eye movements necessary for ball sports. Girls, on the other hand generally start speaking earlier than boys. And they generally(通常) see better in the dark than boys and are better at learning foreign languages.

What makes men and women better at one thing or another? The answer is the brain. The brain has two sides connected by nerve(神經(jīng)) tracks. The left side generally is used for mathematics, speech and writing. The right side is used for artistic creation(創(chuàng)造) and the expression for emotions(情感). In men and women, different areas in each side of the brain develop differently. In boys, for example, it’s the area used for mathematics. In girls, it is the area used for language skills. Another interesting difference is that the two sides of a man’s brain are connected by a smaller nerves than the two sides of a woman’s brain are.

Even when you’re extremely busy, you aren’t using your time with 100% efficiency. There are gaps in everyone’s schedule where they aren’t doing anything important. Even if your schedule has no gaps, there is probably lots of time where you aren’t working as fast or as effectively as you possibly could.

Why aren’t you completely efficient? It’s because time isn’t the limiting factor. If it were the limiting factor, people could work non-stop without breaks or any unproductive distractions (消遣). Instead, people, even those who are highly productive, need to take breaks, occasionally procrastinate (拖延) and slow down on tasks throughout the day.

The real and most important limiting factor for productivity is your energy levels to pay attention. Energy levels limit your productivity because when you’re tired, you can have enough time and still not get everything done. Your attention ability is also limited, because even if there are a million things that need to be done, you can only focus on one or two at a time.

You might not be able to add another 4-5 hours into your schedule without making some sacrifices. But even extremely busy people can add an hour or two into their schedule without cancelling (取消) anything. The reason why it’s hard to “find time” isn’t a lack of time. It’s because you don’t have enough energy left to focus on something else that needs to fit into your day.

I first suspected time wasn’t the real problem during an extremely busy period in my life over a year ago. I was extremely busy, but at that time I still exercised regularly. I had daily to-do lists with over twenty items, and I still found time to exercise. However, after a few weeks off, due to illness, I stopped exercising. I was not busy by any standards, in fact, my schedule was incredibly light. Despite this free time, I found it hard to find time to exercise. It seemed to get pushed later and later into my schedule until it was gone. How can I explain this strange experience? I believe you have known it.

1.If someone can’t work with 100% efficiency, the most important limiting factor is ________.

A. a schedule without gaps B. breaks and distractions

C. the limited time D. the limited energy

2. The writer gives the example of himself in the last paragraph in order to ________.

A. prove what the real limiting factor is

B. show us how busily he needs to work

C. explain how important a healthy body is

D. tell us what an strange experience he has

3.What is the best title of the passage?

A. Do You Really Lack Time?

B. How Can You Work Efficiently?

C. What Makes Your Energy Limited?

D. When Should You Do Exercise?

Our spiritual intelligence quotient(精神智商), or SQ, helps us understand ourselves, and live fuller, happier lives.

While we’re all born with SQ, most of us aren’t even aware that we have it. Fortunately, you don’t have to sign up for classes to learn how to improve your SQ. Here are some simple steps that can lead you to this new level of understanding.

1. The process of developing spiritual(精神的) intelligence(智力) begins with solitude(獨處) and silence. To tune in(調(diào)整) to your spirit, you have to turn down the volume in your busy, noisy, complicated(復(fù)雜的) life and force yourself to do nothing at all. Start small by creating islands for silence in your day. In the car, instead of listening to the music, use the time to think. At work, shut the door to your office between meetings, take a few breaths and let them out very, very slowly. 2.

Step Outside. For many people, nature sets their spirit free. 3. If you are walking with the dog, take the time to admire flower in bloom; follow the flight of a bird and watch clouds float overhead.

Find an Activity You Enjoy. It’s important to find a hobby that helps you tune in to your spirit. Garden, walk or jog, arrange flowers, listen to music that touches your soul.

4. Ask open-ended questions, such as “What am I feeling? What are my choices? Where am I heading?”

But don’t expect an answer to arrive through some super-natural form of e-mail. “Rarely do I get an immediate answer to my question.” says Reverend Joan Carter, a Presbyterian minister(長老會牧師) in Sausalito, California. “But later that day I suddenly find myself thinking about a problem in a perspective(角度) I never considered before.”

5. While most of us rely on gut(本能的) feeling to realize danger, spiritual intelligence pushes us, not away from, but towards some action that will lead to a greater good.

A. Sit Quietly.

B. Trust Your Spirit.

C. Change Your Spirit.

D. Get Your Spirit Relaxed.

E. Ask Questions of Yourself.

F. Go outside to watch a beautltul sunset.

G. Enjoy the stillness in your home after the kids are finally in bed.
