Last weekend, my kids along with few other kids from the neighborhood volunteered to help me wash my car. My 10-year-old daughter came up with the idea of 1 other people's cars as well. It was pretty 2 outside and I had no plans to 3 being in the bright sun. She 4 wanted to give lemonade(檸檬汽水) to passers-by for free. I had seen little kids 5 and sell fresh lemonade for a small cost but not free. Although I felt 6 ,I decided to help her.
7 she asked me, "What if we 8this a smile car wash?" I couldn't hold back my tears and 9 her and the other kids to go outside the house and come up with 10 ideas. While I kept myself busy in drying the car,the gang walked up to me with a( n) 11 with beautiful images of smiles. They had "Free Car Wash" written on it and the 12 of their ex?ercise was "smile". It was pretty neat to see a team of kids ranging 5―11 years with the 13 to do something for others.
All that seemed 14 and came right from their heart. Nothing seemed to 15 to them;their playtime, the heat outside―they just wanted to 16 others and do something nice in the community!
I helped them make some fresh lemonade and brought out some additional 17 to help clean cars. Passers-by were 18and one even shouted back to them saying "God Bless You,my kids..." One of them even tried giving them 5 dollars, which they refused. A pretty heart?warming 19 !
I feel blessed by being 20 by such wonderful and loving souls.

Once upon a time,a doting mother asked Albert Einstein what she should read to her son to help him grow up as brilliant and intelligent as the famous scientist. "Fairy-tales," he said, wisely nodding his head.
Why? Why would Albert Einstein the Nobel Prizes winning physicist recommend reading fairy-tales? Was he joking? All the evidence suggests he was deadly serious. He also said, "When I examine myself and my methods of thought,I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than any talent for abstract, positive thinking.”
Childhood is one of the factors that blur(使變模糊) the distinctions between the self and oth?er objects. Thus fantasy stories appeal to children and appear to make sense to them.
There are several commonly accepted genres(流派) of fantasy, "Animal Fantasy" which centers around the lives of lovable talking animals and "Modem Fantasy" which focuses on ad?ventures in other worlds and magical events. I am inclined to add a third genre "Human and An?imal Fantasy" , which mixes human and animal characters. Another genre of fantasy may be "High Fantasy" which features heroes who combat evil and save the world from destruction.
Fantasy feeds a child's imagination and encourages creativity. The enjoyment that the genre engenders(產(chǎn)生) promotes reading and enhances literacy. Moreover, the fantasy genre may be used for teaching purposes. For example:A story about cruelty to animals would limit appeal to a child:however a fantasy celebration of closeness between the children and their pets may give an element of excitement as the children are able to save animals from someone with cruel inten?tions.
Children love the Harry Potter series, and if they only see the movies they miss a great op?portunity to develop their reading skills by spending time with the lovable young wizards and witches(巫婆) of the Hogwarts community.
( ) 1. A student Who likes reading about heroes will probably read .
A.Animal Fantasy
B.Modem Fantasy
C.Human and Animal Fantasy
D.High Fantasy
( ) 2. Children are advised to read the Harry Potter series because .
A.they are better than the films
B.they can help improve children's reading ability
C.the films are not true to the original stories
D.children can't learn much from the films
( ) 3. Which of the following best gives the main idea of the sixth paragraph?
A.Fantasy can be educational to children.
B.Fantasy can bring great joy to children.
C.Children should not read stories about animals.
D.Fantasy can teach children to be kind to animals.
( ) 4. The author of the passage probably believes .
A.children should not read too much fantasy
B.all genres of fantasy are suitable for children
C.fantasy can benefit children in many ways
D.Human and Animal Fantasy is most suitable for children

While many of us use the Internet to enhance life through online shopping, bill paying, and surfing our interest areas, there is a "dark" side to the online world. It is common knowledge that many suffer from Internet addictions related to gambling and video games, blow, however, there is research indicating that social media use could lead to depression—Facebook may be harmful to your health.
The online universe can be an intense emotionally-charged world and many may measure their own self-worth through unrealistic cyber perceptions. Pictures of partying peers and online postings can harm self-esteem if one is not included in the fun. Many teens that view these pages feel their life is comparatively inadequate. Additionally, a lot of kids think of Facebook as a popularity contest of who can have the most connections and post the coolest pictures.
Facebook is also a place for teens to announce their accomplishments and receive accolades from their friends and family. On the opposite side of the spectrum, think about the kids who think they have nothing to post and nobody to comment about their suc?cesses.
Lastly, cyber bullies(網(wǎng)絡(luò)暴力) can sink victims to a new low. Bullying behavior can have the long lasting emotional effects. Online harassment(賸擾) is public and can potentially remain in cyberspace forever, often making it difficult for kids to recover or escape from an incident.
Using social media is one of the most common activities that kids engage in today. Re?search has also indicated that online interactions can have many benefits, including better techni?cal skills, enhanced communication abilities, and stronger social connections. If,however, you are not part of the "in-crowd",it could lead to depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.
