【題目】 Beneath the joy of music lies the often mysterious field of music theory. But what if you could learn to understand the often intimidating (使人望而生畏的)language of key signatures, pitch (音高),mode (音樂的調式),melody and more? What if you could recognize these components at work while listening to your favorite music? What if you could "speak" the language of music?

In Understanding the Fundamentals of Music, award winning composer and professor Greenberg offers you a spirited introduction to this magnificent language, avoiding what for many of us has long been the principal roadblock: the need to read music. With these 16 fascinating lectures, discover what parts of musical speech sound like, rather than what they look like on paper. You'll quickly find yourself listening to music with new levels of understanding and appreciation whether at a concert, at home or in your car.

【題目】Life Lessons Everyone Learns the Hard Way

No matter how much we try to be intellectual, life has its own ways of teaching us the valuable lessons. Though initially we are hurt and very shocked, we eventually learn from those experiences, and mature. 1 And we learn to be always optimistic and happy with the way it is.

Lying is harmful. Everyone at some point in life must have definitely realized that lying is a very dangerous thing for the mind, which ultimately affects health, too. Lying makes a man lose the trust of others. 2

Sometimes moving on is the only option. Some things are very dear to us, and we can't imagine life without those activities or people. But sometimes, circumstances and situations arrange in such a way that it is better to leave something and move ahead. 3 At times, it is better to move on with the memories, rather than stay there and live in a blank space with no possible future.

4 In the race of being a perfectionist and an ideal grown-up, every mistake committed by us becomes a mistake in our minds and we become annoyed with ourselves. It is rightly said, "To err (犯錯) is human." We are all humans, so nobody knows everything, and it is fine to forgive ourselves for the things that went wrong. 5

A.It is natural to make mistakes.

B.Happiness is the care of everything.

C.It is wrong if some things don't work out.

D.We understand that life is beautiful with its own flaws (瑕疵).

E.And he would finally lose confidence and trust on his own self.

F.Everything has its tenure (保有期限), and it is the beauty of it.

G.What we should do is try to avoid repeating them or doing any wrong intentionally.

【題目】 Sometimes while sitting doing nothing, our minds recall events from the past that make us all tingly inside. I had one of those moments yesterday. I believe this was triggered(引起)by the oldie The Impossible Dream that was playing on the radio yesterday afternoon!

In 1971, returning from our regular Friday night pregame meeting, I had no sooner walked in the door of our three-room apartment hack than the phone rang. It was the township police. They inquired if I was the football coach. I answered yes and asked if there was a problem. He said our football team had climbed the fence of the township football field and were sitting somewhere around the 50-yard line quietly. It was really not a problem. However, he thought I would like to know. I called my assistants, and made our way to the field.

We met the police at the locked gate. The field was dark and silent. Then, suddenly, we heard voices singing—together and on key—the team theme song, The Impossible Dream. Silently, we listened and became overwhelmed(壓倒)with emotion. Even the policemen had tears rolling down their cheeks. When the team had finished, they walked slowly to the now-opened gate of the field and were shocked to see us waiting there. Of course, our first words were, "What is going on?"

Mike Bernert, the team captain, replied, "Well, coach, you told us to visualize our performance in our mind just before the night of the game. So we came and visualized the upcoming game while sitting on the 50-yard line. Afterward, we would sing The Impossible Dream.”

The coaches and I were overwhelmed. And of course, the team, which was undefeated at this point, never lost a game that season.

1What does the underlined word “tingly” in Paragraph 1 mean?

A.Frightened.B.Excited.

C.Worried.D.Puzzled.

2Why did the police call?

A.The team did something unusual.

B.The team had conflicts with fans.

C.The team locked themselves in the football field.

D.The team damaged the fences of the playground.

3How did the team feel when they saw the author and the policeman?

A.Happy.B.Sad.

C.Ashamed.D.Surprised.

4What is the purpose for the team to sing the song?

A.To enjoy themselves.B.To inspire themselves.

C.To celebrate their success.D.To rest themselves.

【題目】 What do you do when nobody is around to take your picture? You take a selfie (拍照) .But what about selfies in space? On Twitter last year, NASA astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, who famously became the second man to walk on the moon in July 1969, laid claim to a spaceflight first taking the first selfie in space during the Gemini XII mission in 1966.

“For me, it needs to be digital to be selfie,” argues Jennifer Levasseur, who is in charge of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. According to Levasseur, the concept of a selfie is directly linked to Internet culture and human desire to interact on social platforms. “The thing that makes a selfie is sharing it,” she says.

Still, astronauts have been carrying cameras abroad space vehicles since the 1960s ,and they've taken plenty of pictures of themselves along the way. Astronauts had to pull the film magazines out and leave their cameras behind when they returned to Earth because early space missions were restricted by a conservative weight limit on the return trip.

A big change in space camera technology came after sad loss of the space shuttle Columbia who broke apart on its return to Earth in 2003. “Fearing that they would never be able to bring the film back from space and lose all that hard work celebrated the push for digital.” Levasseur says.

Today astronauts can have access to the Internet and social platforms in space and post true based selfies taken by digital cameras. Taking selfies and sharing them on social media is a way that astronauts in space can participate in the same activities people on Earth do every day. The first astronaut selfie that went viral(網紅的) on the internet was one by Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide in 2012.

1What does Levasseur think of Aldrin's claim?

A.It hardly makes any sense.B.It revolutionizes astronautics.

C.It contradicts public opinions.D.It needs to be further proved.

2Why were cameras left in space on early space missions?

A.To lighten the load of the spaceship.

B.To test cameras under extreme conditions.

C.To prepare for the next stage of spaceexploration.

D.To take more pictures in space by remote control.

3What advanced space camera technology?

A.The invention of new films

B.The fear of falling behind in the space race

C.The concern about the loss of valuable data

D.The popularity of space selfies on socia media

4What is the best title for the text?

A.The Exploration of Space.B.The History of Selfies in Space.

C.The Change in Space Camera Technology.D.The Development in Space Technology.

4,you probably want to clean the fish, then store it before continuing fishing. If you want to release the fishbe extra careful when removing the hook,so it doesn’t get hurt too badly, then gently hold the fish in the water and allow it to swim away out of your hands.

【題目】 When it comes to making healthy lifestyle changes, which should come first — changing your diet or becoming more physically active?

Previous studies suggested that providing people with too much information about nutrition and physical activity at once tends to be discouraging. That has led to the popularity of advising people to make changes gradually, and set smaller goals.

So the scientists divided 200 inactive participants who were age 45 or older into four groups. One group was instructed about making diet and fitness changes at the same time, the second group was taught about diet changes first, then fitness changes four months later, the third group changed their exercise habits first and made changes in their eating habits four months later, and the final, control group was not instructed about either diet or fitness changes but about how to manage their stress.

The researchers tracked the groups for a full year. Compared to the control group, the three intervention (干預) groups made healthy changes in their diet. Those who changed their fitness habits first significantly increased the amount of exercise they received daily compared to the other groups after four months. However, at the end of the year, the group that changed both diet and exercise at the same time was the only one that met the nationally recommended targets for both exercise and nutrition levels, while those who worked on improving their nutrition first were unable to meet the recommended levels of fitness after a year. The researchers suspect that changes to diet are easier to make than changes to physical activity.

The findings show, however, that pairing diet and exercise changes may help to overcome some of the barriers people face in adding more physical activity into their lives. If folks change diet and exercise orderly, the scientists say, they may end up placing more importance on the first set of behavior changes and feel less pressured to address the second set.

1The advice mentioned in the second paragraph seemed .

A.popularB.dangerousC.scientificD.unsatisfactory

2Which group made progress earlier than other groups in increasing the amount of daily exercise?

A.The first group.B.The second group.

C.The third group.D.The control group.

3The reason why those improving their nutrition first failed to meet the levels of fitness after a year might be that .

A.they might be very lazy

B.they wouldn’t like to change their behavior

C.it is much harder to change physical activity

D.they might put on weight before changing their physical activity

4Which of the following does the author probably approve of?

A.Pairing diet and exercise changes.

B.Becoming more physically active first.

C.Changing diet and exercise following a fixed order.

D.Changing diet first and placing more importance on it.
