On a Friday night, a poor young artist stood at the gate of the subway station, playing his violin. Many people put some money into the1of the young man.
The next day, the young artist came again, and put his hat on the ground gracefully.2from the day before, he took out a large piece of3and laid it on the ground. Then he began 4.
Before long, the young violinist was5with people, who were all attracted by the6on that paper, which said, "Last night, a gentleman named George Sang put something important into my hat7. Please come to claim(認(rèn)領(lǐng)) it soon."
After half an hour, a middle-aged man ran there in a hurry and8through the crowd to the violinist and said, "Yes, it’s you. You did come here. I knew that you’re an honest man and would9come here."
"Are you Mr. George Sang?"
The man nodded.
"Did you10something?"
"Lottery (彩票). It’s lottery," said the man.
The violinist11 a lottery ticket on which George Sang’ s name was seen. "Is it?" he asked.
George nodded, seized the lottery ticket and12it; then he danced with joy.
George bought a lottery ticket which13him a prize of $ 500,000. He was so happy after work and felt the violinist playing so wonderfully that he put 50 dollars in the hat.14, the lottery ticket was also thrown in.
When asked why he didn’t keep the lottery ticket15himself, the violinist said,"16I don’t have much money, I live happily; but if I lose honesty, I won’t be happy forever."
We can gain and lose so much in our life. But being honest should17be with us. If we bear ourselves in a dishonest way, we18succeed temporarily (暫時(shí)). However, from the long-term view, we’11 be a loser. Such a person is just like the19on the mountain. It’s high above at first, but gradually it falls and loses the20of going up.

When Frida Kahlo's paintings were on show in London, a poet described her paintings as “ a ribbon (絲帶)around a bomb”. Such comments seem to suggest Kahlo had a big influence on the art world of her time. Sadly, she is actually a much bigger name today than she was during her time.
Born in 1907 in a village near Mexico City , Kahlo suffered from polio(小兒麻痹癥)at the age of seven. Her spine (脊柱)become bent as she grew older. Then, in 1925, her back was broken in several places in a school-bus accident. Throughout the rest of her life, the artist had many operations, but nothing was able to cure the terrible pain in her back. However, the accident had an unexpected side effect. While lying in her bed recovering, Kahlo taught herself to paint.
In 1929, she got married to Diego Rivera, another famous Mexican artist. Rivera’s strong influences on Kahlo’s style can be seen in her early works, but her later works from the 1940s, known today as her best works, show less influence from her husband.
Unfortunately, her works did not attract much attention in the 1930s and1940s, even in her home country. Her first one-woman show in Mexico was not held until 1953.For more than a decade after her death in 1954, Kahlo’s works remained largely unnoticed by the world, but in the 1970s her works began to gain international fame at last.
