11從下文的finding a job and raising three young children可以判斷,這些都是她的責(zé)任,所以用responsibilities。
including是“包括”的意思;as well as作介詞時(shí),含義是“還,也”;except for表示部分與整體的關(guān)系,表示“除了……
pass sth.on to sb.“把某物傳遞給某人”,符合語境。
“I love you”是多么完美的語言。

On May 18, 1969, NASA astronauts Thomas Stafford, John Young, and Eugene Cernan boarded the Apollo 10 lunar module(登月艙)---the fourth manned mission in the US Apollo Space program and only the second after Apollo 8 to circle the moon. Its mission was to circle the moon and thoroughly test the components and procedures to pave the way for the first lunar landing. The mission went perfectly without incident---at least that's what every one believed.
However, that view has changed since February 22, after NASA released a digital recording of strange music heard by the space travelers. Then as they were re-entering the zone where they could communicate with ground control. One of the astronauts asked if they should report it. In response, Stafford expressed his doubts if anyone would even believe them. But they needn't have worried. When NASA experts listened to the recordings, they thought the strange sounds were radio interference.
Michael Collins---the Apollo 11 pilot---said that the only reason why he was not shocked upon hearing them was that he had been forewarned by NASA officials. Collins also said that the music stopped as soon as the lunar module landed on the moon.
So why did it take NASA over 40 years to release the digital recording of the awful music only after it was featured in a recent television series NASA's Unexplained Files? The US Space Agency says they have not been hiding them. In the press release that accompanies the release of the recording, NASA officials state, “The Apollo 10 audio clips were uploaded in 2012, but the mission's sound recordings have been available at the National Archives for anyone that wanted to hear them since the early 1970s.”
Eugene Cernan. Apollo 10's pilot who heard the sounds first, also released a statement saying, “I don't remember that incident excited me enough to take it seriously. It was probably just radio interference. Had we thought it was something other than that, we would have briefed everyone after the flight. We never gave it another thought.”
While most people are ready to accept this logical explanation, there are some that believe otherwise. They guess the music proves the presence of aliens. Among them is Apollo 15 astronaut Al Worden, who thinks the sounds came from a source in outer space. In the episode of NASA’s Unexplained Files, which discusses the origin of the strange music, the astronaut says, “Logic tells me that if there was something recorded on there, then there was something there.”
(1)Apollo 10's mission was to________.
A.take the astronauts to the moon
B.detect alien music in outer space
C.prepare for the landing on the moon
D.move around and observe the moon
(2)When the astronauts heard the sounds, ________.
A.they were excited about the discovery
B.they reported to NASA at once
C.they were heading back to the lunar ground
D.they thought they might be of little importance
(3)According to the passage, ________.
A.the mission of Apollo 10 turned out to be unsuccessful
B.NASA made the TV series to clarify some space-related mysteries
C.Al Worden on Apollo 15 believes in aliens and logic
D.Michael Collins knew about the strange sounds before his flight
(4)What is the main idea of this passage?
A.A TV program was released about NASA’s unexplained files.
B.The music heard by Apollo astronauts could be radio interference.
C.The existence of aliens still remains a question.
D.Apollo astronauts heard strange sounds from outer space.

I had a great time this past summer visiting Stone Mountain Park with my twin grandsons.I had the opportunity to spend the day with them seeing the various sights and attractions. One thing that my grandsons had really wanted to do that particular day was to climb to the top of the mountain.Stone Mountain isn't a particularly tall mountain and fortunately has walking trails to the top,but for two 5-year-olds,along with grandpa,it's a formidable task.
Since my grandson's enthusiasm was much greater than mine,I decided to start the slow walk up the mountain. The beginning part of the trail was slow and gradual. It seemed like we were taking forever to climb just a short distance, but I had to remind myself that it took 3 of their steps to equal 1 of mine,so I found myself walking ahead of them, then having to stop and let them catch up,over and over again.
I was tired and sweaty, just wanting to get to the top of the mountain so I could rest well before starting my way back.I learned early on during our walk that this wasn't going to be the case.We had to stop and look at every large rock with someone's name carved in it.We looked at unusual plant formations. We examined large trees and we explored small rock overhangs that reminded the kids of caves. My grandsons viewed the walk as an exciting adventure.Climbing the mountain was a trial to me but my grandsons were not focused at all on the trial of climbing the mountain;they were simply enjoying the journey of the walk.
I know when I face a trial in life,I tend to always think of the problem.I want the trial to be over quickly and let life get back to normal. What can I learn during the course of the trial? At some point, the trial will be over and we'll be joyous for sure.
However, the real joy should not be that the trial's over, but I am celebrating what I learned during the journey.

The giant Sequoia trees in California grip tightly into the floor, but with shallow root, with little depth.Constantly challenging the natural elements and fighting off destruction, the giant Sequoia is "king of the forest".These trees are so tall and strong that eventually they become their own worst enemy. For you see,the Sequoia can resist lightning, storm, and wind, but eventually their roots cannot support their own weight and strength. After hundreds or thousands of years, they tumble to the ground like giant skyscrapers that have fallen from their bases after powerful explosives are detonated(引爆).
In many ways, many of us are like those giant Sequoias,so proud,so bit,so strong, withstanding wind and fire, yet not allowing our roots to seek deep into life's meaning. Many people have only shallow roots in soft ground, leaving them constantly on the edge of falling over to their destruction.
The first step we should take is to anchor ourselves with the firm intention of establishing strong roots of life and belief. We must trust the ground we stand on,and allow ourselves to plant the rich seeds of passion into our life's soil, nurturing it with the rain of love and joy, then allowing the fertilizer to soak into the very "veins" of the roots, leading to the trunk's healthy development. We've all seen many men with a strong trunk but no roots. They place the material dimension of wealth and finance above their own roots and foundational beliefs. They become so heavy with possessions, money, and the burden of wealth that they finally fall over as the giant Sequoia uproots itself and self-destructs.
【1】The Sequoia is called "king of the forest" because it .
A. grips tightly into the forest floor B. grows to be very tall and strong
C. lives to thousands of years D. looks like a skyscraper
【2】What does the underlined word "tumble" mean?

【3】The writer's purpose in introducing the Sequoia is to .
A. tell a life truth
B. encourage struggling people
C. show the meaning of happiness
D. warn people about the danger of becoming strong
【4】What would be the best title for the passage?
A. Life Is Rooted in A Strong Belief. B. Our Biggest Enemy Is Ourselves.
C. The Meaning of Life. D. Build Firm Life Foundation.

Children have their own rules in playing games. They seldom need a referee(裁判) and rarely trouble to keep scores. They don't care much about who wins or loses, and it doesn't seem to worry them if the game is not finished. Yet, they like games that depend a lot on luck, so that their personal abilities cannot be directly compared. They also enjoy games that move in stages, in which each stage, the choosing of leaders, the picking-up of sides, or the determining of which side shall start, is almost a game in itself.
Grown-ups can hardly find children's games exciting, and they often feel puzzled(迷惑的)at why their kids play such simple games again and again. However, it is found that a child plays games for very important reasons. He can be a good player without having to think whether he is a popular person, and he can find himself being a useful partner to someone of whom he is ordinarily afraid. He becomes a leader when it comes to his turn. He can be confident, too, in particular games, that it is his place to give orders, to pretend to be dead, to throw a ball actually at someone, or to kiss someone he has caught.
It appears to us that when children play a game they imagine a situation under their control. Everyone knows the rules, and more importantly, everyone plays according to the rules. Those rules may be childish, but they make sure that every child has a chance to win.
(1)What is true about children when they play games?
A.They can stop playing any time they like.
B.They can test their personal abilities.
C.They want to pick a better team.
D.They don't need rules.
(2)To become a leader in a game the child has to ________.
A.play well
B.wait for his turn
C.be confident in himself
D.be popular among his playmates
(3)Why does a child like playing games?
A.Because he can be someone other than himself.
B.Because he can become popular among friends.
C.Because he finds he is always lucky in games.
D.Because he likes the place where he plays a game.
(4)The writer believes that _____.
A.children should make better rules for their games.
B.children should invite grown-ups to play with them.
C.children's games can do them a lot of good.
D.children play games without reasons.
