1.(36)CWe are learning from life constantly,as long as we recognize and accept those lessons. When you choose to be a student of life, you open yourself to limitless opportunities.
Explore the world.Don't limit yourself to your hometown or to the city you got your first job.(37)F.It doesn't have to be just one town or one apartment complex.Backpacking may not be for everyone, but it's the only way you can see the world.Travelling doesn't just have to be going overseas but also dropping by many states.Culture exists not just in a country but even in small communities.
Acquire new life skills.Maybe it's time that you finally learn how to fix a broken faucet or eve n fix the faulty light in your bathroom. You can finally cross out your bucket list items that have been there forever.Learn how to drive a car or ride a bike. There are definitely things you don't know how to do,and you have a lifetime ahead of you to learn.(38)DBe cultured.Watch as many movies and read as many books as possible. And it doesn't mean that you only watch the ones with high ratings from critics.Books and movies are the fruit of the writers'or the makers'life experiences and understanding of their surroundings.Movies and books are a good look into how people interpret the world.
(39)AFor some individuals,to grow older means to keep your circle of friends down to a few,but that shouldn't stop you from meeting new people.Widen your circle by allowing people into your life and letting them get to know you.Widening your circle to people from all walks of life gives you a bigger and better perspective of the world.
Do many first's.When was the last time you did something for the first time?(40)G.It can be as simple as watching a movie alone or as big as trying bungee jumping.Doing something for the first time doesn't need to have a life-changing effect. It can be a simple realization that apparently, going to a film screening by yourself isn't so bad.
So,there are so much more to learn, especially now that we're virtually connected to everyone in the world. As a student of life,it's really up to you to u se all your resources and make it into something enriching.

18.Think about the different ways that people use wind. You can use it to fly a kite or to sail a boat.Wind is one of our cleanest and richest power sources,as well as one of the oldest.Evidence shows that windmills(風車) began to be used in ancient Iran back in the seventh century BC.They were first introduced to Europe during the 1100s,when armies returned from the Middle East with knowledge of using wind power.
For many centuries, people used windmills to grind(磨碎) wheat into flour or pump water from deep underground. When electricity was discovered in the late 1800s,people living in remote areas began to use them to produce electricity. This allowed them to have electric lights and radio. However,by the 1940s when electricity was available to people in almost all areas of the United States, windmills were rarely used.
During the 1970s,people started becoming con cerned about the pollution that is created when coal and gas are burned to produce electricity.People also realized that the supply of coal and gas would not last forever. Then, wind was rediscovered, though it means higher costs.Today, there is a global movement to supply more and more of our electricity through the use of wind.

2.The extraordinary Eastgate Building in Harare,Zimbabwe's capital city,is said to be the only one in the world to use the same cooling and heating principles as the termite mound(白蟻堆).
Architect Mick Pearce used precisely the same strategy when designing the Eastgate Building,which has no air-conditioning and almost no heating.The building-the country's largest commercial and shopping complex-uses less than 10% of the energy of a conventional building of its size.The Eastgate's owners saved 3.5millionona36million building because an air-conditioning equipment didn't have to be imported.
The complex is actually two buildings linked by bridges across a shady,glass-roofed atrium(天井) open to the air.Fans suck fresh air in from the atrium,blow it upstairs through hollow spaces under the floors and from there into each office through baseboard vents(通風口).As it rises and warms,it is drawn out via ceiling vents and finally exists through forty-eight brick chimneys.
During summer's cool nights,big fans blow air through the building seven times an hour to cool the empty floors.By day,smaller fans blow two changes of air an hour through the building,to circulate the air which has been in contact with the cool floors.For winter days,there are small heaters in the vents.
This is all possible only because Harare i 1600feet above sea level,has cloudless skies,little dampness and rapid temperature changes-days as warm as 31℃commonly drop to 14℃at night."You couldn't do this in New York,with its hot summers and cold winters,"Pearce said.
The engineering firm of Ove Arup&Partners monitors daily temperatures.It is found that the temperature of the building has generally stayed etween 23℃and 25℃,with the exception of the annual hot period just before the summer rains in October and three days in November,when a doorkeeper accidentally switched off the fans at night.And the air is fresh-far more so than in air-conditioned buildings,where up to 30% of the air is recycled.

29.Why was Eastgate cheaper to be built than a conventional building?B
A.It was designed in a smaller size.
B.No air conditioners were fixed in.
C.Its heating system was less advanced.
D.It used rather different building materials.
30.What does"it"refer to in Paragraph 3?A
A.Fresh air from outside.B.Heat in the building.
C.Hollow space.D.Baseboard vent.
31.Why would a building like Eastgate Not work efficiently in New York?D
A.New York has less clear skies as Harare.
B.Its dampness affects the circulation of air.
C.New York covers a larger area than Harare.
D.Its temperature changes seasonally rather than daily.
32.The data in the last paragraph suggests Eastgate's temperature control systemB.
A.a(chǎn)llows a wide range of temperatures
B.functions well for most of the year
C.can recycle up to 30% of the air
D.works better in hot seasons.
