So let people not take life for granted.”

“The second wish of spreading gold, silver and other riches on the way to the graveyard is to tell people that not even a bit of gold will come with me. I spent all my life earning riches but cannot take anything with me. Let people realize that it is just a waste of time to chase wealth.”

I have been reading your newspaper, the Hometown Gazette, for the past two years, ever since I moved to Smithville. We moved here from New York City, so I am accustomed to reading excellent newspapers such as The New York Times. In fact, we still have the Times delivered on Sundays. The entire family enjoys reading the recipes(食譜) in the newspaper, as well as the Styles section.

The Times is great, but the Gazette is another story. I've never read an article that doesn't contain at least three or four spelling or grammatical errors. For instance, in last week's issue, you misspelled the word “secretary” used a singular verb with a plural noun, and used “it's” as a possessive(所有格). And that was just in the lead story! In case you never went to elementary school, “it's” means “it is”. It's not a possessive adjective!

It's a pity that this tiny little hick (鄉(xiāng)下) town has only one newspaper, because I' d like to have an alternative to the rag (爛報) you publish. I find it hard to believe your news stories. If you can' t spell correctly, how can you get your facts right？

I've been meaning to get this off my chest for some time. Please cancel my subscription(訂閱). And buy yourself a dictionary.

If you hesitate to take action, ask yourself this: What's the worst that can happen? Then prepare to accept it. Then go on to improve on the worst. Is failure the worst thing that can happen? No, absolutely not. 3. Doing nothing is actually the worst thing that can happen. When you take no action, you are assured of getting nowhere.

Courage comes from taking action. 4. You need to act to overcome your fear. Your action may put you into discomfort, but you have to just do it. And your action can prevent you from being stuck.

To build up your confidence, you need to do the same thing over and over again. Soon you will discover that less courage is needed because you have already gained mastery. You are able to move decisively forward.
