A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs 1 the pit. When they saw how 2 the pit was, they told the two frogs that they might as well be 3.
The two frogs ignored what 4 were saying and 5 to jump up out of the pit with all of their physical strength. The other frogs 6 telling them to stop. Finally, one of the frogs 7 the comments, seriously considered them, and gave up. He 8 down and died.

Whenever my kids have a party at school, I am the mom who always signs up to bring the juice boxes. It’s not because I’m1 or that I don’t care if my kids have a good party. I am just not good at making homemade bread into holiday-themed shapes like other mothers.2, I’m happy to try, even though it’ll3 me a long time to do it.
People say that housewives should have the4 to make delicious meals, keep their houses clean, and5 every minute of their child’s life. Their words used to6 me a lot. I felt that I should also be able to do those things as a housewife. So7 I couldn’t make the turkey-shaped cookies, I8 feeling like a failure as a mom.
After many9 attempts at baking, and many afternoons spent crying over my inabilities as a mother, I finally accepted the10 that my lot(命運(yùn)) in life is to be the juice box mom. I just accepted her appreciation, rather than telling her that I brought extra drinks because I could16 remember how many kids were in the class. But her17 taught me an important lesson: I’m not a failure as a mom.
Not everyone is cut out to be a(n)18 mom. I believe it’s okay to be the juice box mom. I may not bake cookies and decorate them beautifully, but I19 something to drink. And I think that’s just as20.

Always Changing

Mark is leaving, and I’m feeling kind of sad.
You probably don’t know Mark, but you might be lucky enough1someone just like him. He’s been the heart and soul of the office for a couple of years combining2professional skills with a sweet and gentle nature.
And now he’s moving on to an exciting new professional3. It sounds like it could be the chance of a lifetime, and we’re4for him. But that doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye to him.
Life has a way of throwing these curve(曲線)balls5us. Just when we start to get comfortable with a person, a place or a situation, something comes along to 6the recipe.
Our ability to cope with change7to a great degree, our peace, happiness and contentment in life.
But how do we do that? A friend of mine is fond of reminding us that“survivability depends upon8.”And then there’s Chris the California surf-rat, who once told me that the answer to life’s problems can be9in four words:“Go with the flow.”
I’m not exactly sure , but I think Chris was saying that life is a series of 10—both good and bad . No matter how excellent your skill , there will always be life-influencing factors over which you have no11. The truly successful person expects the unexpected, and is prepared to 12adjustments should the need arise-as it almost13does.
That doesn't mean you don't keep trying to make all your14come true.It just means that when things come up that aren't15in your plan, you work around them—and then you move on。
“Change, indeed,is painful,16ever needful,”said philosopher Thomas Carlyle.“And if memory has its force and worth,so also has17.”
we're going to miss Mark. But rather than stay on the18of our parting,we'll focus on our hopes for a brighter future-for him,and for us.And then we'll go out and19
everything we can to make that future happen.20our plans change--again.

I used to hate being called upon in class mainly because I didn’t like attention drawn to myself. And 1 assigned(指定)a seat by the teacher, I always 2to sit at the back of the classroom.
All this 3after I joined a sports team. It began when a teacher suggested I try out for the basketball team. At first I thought it was a crazy4 because I didn’t have a good sense of balance, nor did I have the5 to keep pace with the others on the team and they would tease me. But for the teacher who kept insisting on my “6for it”, I wouldn’t have decided to give a try.
Getting up the courage to go to the tryouts was only the 7of it! When I first started8the practice sessions(練習(xí)賽), I didn’t even know the rules of the game, much 9what I was doing. Sometimes I’d get 10 and take a shot at the wrong direction—which made me feel really stupid. 11, I wasn’t the only one “new” at the game, so I decided to 12 on learning the game, do my best at each practice session, and not be too hard on myself for the things I didn’t 13“just yet”.
I practiced and practiced. Soon I knew the 14and the “moves”. Being part of a team was fun and motivating. Very soon the competitive 15in me was winning over my lack of confidence. With time, I learned how to play and made friends in the 16 — friends who respected my efforts to work hard and be a team player. I never had so much fun!
With my 17 self-confidence comes more praise from teachers and classmates. I have gone from 18 in the back of the classroom and not wanting to call attention to myself, 19raising my hand— even when I sometimes wasn’t and not 100 percent 20I had the right answer. Now I have more self-confidence in myself.
