All of my students I taught at Saint Mary’s School in Morris, Minnesota were dear to me, but Mark was one in a million. His happytobealive attitude made even his occasional naughtiness 1.
Mark talked   2 in class. I had to remind him again and again that talking without   3 was unacceptable. What impressed me so much, though, was his sincere response every time I had to correct him for misbehaving, “Thank you for correcting me, Madam!” I didn’t know what to make of it at first, but before long I became 4 hearing it many times a day.
However, one morning my patience was 5 when Mark talked once too often. I warned Mark, “If you say one more word, I am going to tape your mouth 6!”

Several years passed until one cold rainy day when my father broke the news to me that Mark was killed in Vietnam War, I broke down and cried in my heart, “Mark, I would give all the masking tape in the world 15 you could talk to me!”

Kids have their own ideas about money---some are sensible and others are not so wise.
Twelve-year-old Amanda thinks it’s 1  to save and not blow your money right away  “ so you can  2  other things”.
When it comes to credit cards, eight-year-old Jeremie says when the monthly 3  comes in “ you sign it and then you give it back” ---leaving out the part about actually 4  it.
These kids are 5 far away from the working world, but the ideas they’re forming about 6  could affect how much they save, how they use credit cards and how much debt they finally take on in later life.
High school business teacher Jeff Balch said his students had 7  knowledge about money other than spending. “ They don’t know most things because 8  talks to them about them---as in their parents,” said Balch, “The discussions tend to be in terms of kids 9  too much money, but no one tells them why, where their money goes.
Mitch Murphy said students’ message to the task force was to “ make it 10 ”. “ It may be difficult to have a 14-or 15-year-old student get too 11  about retirement planning, ” Murphy said, “ But if you want to talk about a cellphone contract or a debt card, they will be engaged in.” Murphy said learning financial literacy (能力) 12,  well 13  getting into the work force, should stay with Canadians for life and 14  the country as a result.
Sandra Martin said children can start learning about money when they learn to 15 . “ Sit down with the flyers and look at how much things cost,” Martin said. Babysitting and birthday money could be 16  and there would be a(n) 17  as to how much could be debited(借) every month, she said.
“ The reality is that we’re not spending with cash anymore. If you’re always in  18  of your child’s money, then they’re never going to learn what it means to save for something that’s 19.”
Balch said he tries to make his students realize the differences between needs, wants and priorities(優(yōu)先權(quán)). If they haven’t learned self-control and if they haven’t learned how to 20  money, they can easily spiral(螺旋上升) out of control.

Then Christmas morning came, the weather cleared long enough for supplies to be9and word to spread that other troops would soon be there.
Many of the young men who began with Roy did not make it home10. They gave their lives to fighting against the Nazi. Those who did survive would never be the same. Many of them were the most patriotic(愛國的)people you would11meet, but most of them12war. They had experienced it. They knew its final realities-things got blown up while people were killed, and robbed of their beloved ones.
It is Memorial Day in the United States today. We all pray for an end for the world’s need for young men and young women to be placed in harm’s way. We also need to remember those who paid the huge13of wars-costs not counted in dollars, but in lost lives, broken hearts, forgotten innocence, broken families, and terrible memories. And as we remember to14those who paid this awful price, we also remember in hopes to see an end to war itself.
Please, in their honor, don’t forget their sacrifices(犧牲). Please, for our world’s sake, don’t forget to pray for15.

About ten years ago, I was on a plane going west, and a young woman 1 and sat across the aisle (過道) from me. I noticed her for two reasons. She was very attractive, and she was holding a teddy bear about half her2. I teased her by asking if she had a 3 for the bear. She laughed and said no.
About halfway through the flight she 4over and told me she was going to Tucson to enter rehab(康復(fù)治療). She 5to share her life story with me. She had been working as a dancer  in a nightclub. That 6 had led her down a dark 7 to drugs and alcohol. As I listened to her story, I was 8 at all she had gone through. I listened to all she shared and told her I was sure she was going to 9 it.  At the end of the 10, she thanked me for listening to her.
A few years later, I got a 11 in the mail saying, “Wow, it’s been five years since we met on that plane. It is 12how you touched my life.” She went on to tell me that she had 13 to stay away from drugs, and had been working for a radio station. She felt she had achieved things she could not have 14 that
day on the plane. We agreed to set up a time to get 15.
When I saw her, she was 16_ the attractive young woman I remembered. She told me that that little 17 we had had turned her life around. She had got on the plane 18 anything would work in her life, and my affirmation of her as a person and of her 19 had given her the last bit of 20 she needed to work through her problems.
The young woman taught me it’s never too late to make a new start in life.

People do not analyze every problem they meet.Sometimes they try to remember a solution from the last time they had a 1 problem.They often accept the opinions or ideas of other people.Other times they begin to act without thinking; they try to find a solution by trial and error.2 , when all of these methods fail, the person with a problem has to start analyzing. There are six 3 in analyzing a problem.
First the person must recognize that there is a problem. For example, Sam's bicycle is broken, and he cannot ride it to class as he usually does.Sam must 4 that there is a problem with his bicycle.
Next the person must 5 the problem. Before Sam can repair his bicycle, he must know why it does not work. For example, he must 6 the parts that are wrong.
Now the person must look for 7 that will make the problem clearer and lead to8 solutions.For example, suppose Sam decides that his bike does not work because there is something wrong with the brakes.9 , he can look in his bicycle repair book and read about brakes, 10 his friends at the bike shop, or look at his brakes carefully.
After 11 the problem, the person should have 12 suggestions for a possible solution.Take Sam as an example 13 , his suggestions might be: tighten or loosen the brakes; buy new brakes and change the old ones.
In the end, one 14 seems to be the solution to the problem.Sometimes the 15idea comes quite 16 because the thinker suddenly sees something new or sees something in a 17 way.Sam, for example, suddenly sees there is a piece of chewing gum(口香糖)stuck to a brake. He 18 hits on the solution to his problem: he must 19 the brake.
Finally the solution is 20 .Sam does it and finds his bicycle works perfectly. In short, he has solved the problem.
