Fifteen years spent in the field of education has provided me with many treasured moments. One of the most unforgettable 36 when I was teaching second grade 10 years ago.
In May I decided to plan something special for the children; a Mother’s Day tea. We had put our 37 together to come up with ideas of how to 38 our mothers. We practiced singing songs, memorized poems and wrote cards. We decided to hold our tea the Friday before Mother’s Day. I was surprised and 39 to learn that every mother was planning to attend. I 40 invited my own mother.
Finally, the big day arrived. Each child lined up at our classroom door, 41 the arrival of his or her mom. 42 it got closer to starting time, I looked around and my eyes quickly found Jimmy. His mother hadn’t 43 up and he was looking upset.
I took my mother 44 the hand and walked over to Jimmy. “Jimmy,” I said, “I have a bit of problem here and I was 45 if you could keep my mother 46 while I’m busy.”
My mom and Jimmy sat at a table. Jimmy 47 my mom her treats, presented her with the gift I had made, just as we had 48 the day before. Whenever I looked over, my mother and Jimmy were in deep 49 .
Last year, I took a senior class on a field trip, and there was Jimmy, I had the students complete an outline of the day’s 50 and an evaluation of our trip. Then I collected the students’ booklets and checked them to see if 51 was completed. When I came to Jimmy’s 52 , he had written “Remember our Mother’s Day tea we had in second grade, Mrs, Marra? I do! Thanks for all you did for me, and thank your mother, too.”
I told him I really enjoyed what he had written. He looked rather embarrassed and 53 his own thanks and walked away. Suddenly he ran bark and gave me a big hug.
“Thanks again. No one even knew my mother didn’t 54 it.”
I ended my workday with a hug from a teenage boy who 55 stopped hugging teachers years ago.

An oasis (綠洲) is an island of life in an ocean of temperature extremes.Any oasis always contains one or more springs Oases make it possible to survive through the desert. In large deserts such as the Sahara.towns are located around sources of water such as oases and rivers.
What causes an oasis? An oasis is actually a spot in the desert where the altitude is low enough that the water table is fight below the surface, resulting in the presence of springs.Even in a desert, it rains occasionally, and this produces a water table just above the bedrock, usually several hundred feet below the surface.Sand is very porous (可滲透的),so most water runs right
through it and down to the bedrock.
Deserts consist of many millions of tons of sand. There is only one natural force capable of moving it in noticeable amounts:the wind.Although,in an average dust storm, ten cubic feet of air only holds about an ounce of sand,a cubic mile of air can move about 4,600 tons of it,leading to erosion (侵蝕).A severe storm is capable of moving as much as 100 million tons of sand and dust.
In certain areas where large quantities of sand are moved by storms, erosion digs all the way down to the water table, putting it just beneath the surface Seeds planted in the ground there are capable of extending roots into the moist land, producing an oasis.
Sometimes.the oasis produced by the wind can be very large when vast tracts of desert are wiped clean by storms. The great Kharga oasis in the Sahara, for example,is over 100 miles long and 12 to 50 miles in width. The oasis was produced when erosion caused the edges of the hollow places to sink down to the water table.
63.What does “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to_______.
A.erosion B.water table C.sand D.storm
64.How many conditions of the oasis formation are mentioned in the passage without considering
The wind and seeds?
A.3 B.4 C.5 D.6
65.We can infer from the passage ________.
A.there is at least one spring on an oasis
B.the bedrock is usually just right below the surface
C.the great Kharga oasis is the biggest oasis in the world
D.the great Kharga oasis is at a low altitude
66.In the last paragraph, the author mentions the great Kharga oasis as an example to_______.
A.introduce the great oasis to the readers
B.tell how the oasis was produced by rain
C.show the oasis produced by the wind can be very large
D.tell it’s easy to form oases in the desert after storms

Dear classmates,
I’ll tell you everything about my future.Every one of US is thinking about the future.Do you know what that mine is? I have decided to become the middle school teacher.Does it sound surprising? I have this dream when I was only a child.I love children.
As we all can see, teachers are great needed in our country, especially in the country side. Many parents want his children to be well—educated, and they don’t want them to be teachers.Perhaps one of the main reason is that teachers work too hard but get too little. In spite that,I am determined to devote all my life to teach in my hometown.

When I was young, I wished for a good car and a big house. That was my idea of success. I took all the advanced classes and tried to do well in the exams with my mind set on going to a key school. I just knew that I would somehow become famous and be able to afford the car and the dream house. All the way through junior years, my mind was planning this beautiful future.
Then in the eleventh grade, many losses changed my mind. First, one of my friends died at 16. Soon after, my great-grandmother passed away, followed by my beloved fourth-grade teacher. These events left me not knowing what to do or where to go . Death had never touched me so closely.
After a long period of emptiness, it finally struck me: Life is not promised and neither is future success. Though I was attempting to achieve material success, I was not enjoying my daily life. I realized that finding inner peace, purpose and happiness will stick with me forever and that is real success.
Enjoying life's precious quirks ( 偶發(fā)事件 ) makes an ordinary person more successful than a wealthy person who isn't content and takes everything for granted. The summer before senior years, my attitude changed greatly. Instead of memorizing facts, I began learning skills. Instead of focusing on the future, I focused on today and the many blessings and successes that came with it.
I still get excellent grades, but now I devote weeks to studying instead of struggling for exams, and I think about the future with a deeper sense of meaning. For me, being successful means truly living life each day.
The reason why the author changed his idea of success is that ________ .
A. he can't afford his house
B. his beloved teacher was dead
C. he didn't know what to do or where to go
D. he lost a few beloved persons in a short time
According to the author which of the following is the real success for a person?
A. Being famous. B. Truly living life each day.
C. Good car and big house. D. Material achievements.
What does the author want to tell the readers?
A. The true meaning of the life. B. The true meaning of studying.
C. How to achieve success. D. His opinion about success.
According to the passage, which of the following is true?
A. The writer thinks that success is not promised.
B. His teacher died before the death of his grandpa.
C. The writer didn't do well in all the exams.
D. He didn't want to take all the exams.
