BALl, Indonesia-China, a booming economy known for its air pollution and rising greenhouse gas emissions (排放物), is winning praise at an international climate confernce for its efforts to clean up and support anti-global warming moves.
Some experts believe
“I think China is taking climate change seriously, and that’s a good sign that there will be a good outcome here in Bali,”said Artur Runge-Metzger, head of the European Commission delegation at the conference on the Indonesian island.
Even hard-to-please environmental groups are praising Beijing, though it’s clear China, which relies heavily on dirty, outdated coal burning techniques has a lot more to do.
China ranked 40th on environmental watchdog Germanwatch’s annual index (指數(shù)), which ranks 56 industrialized and developing countries, was an improvement of four places over last year, the group said on Friday. The US and
Germanwatch noted the Chinese government has carried out policies promoting renewable energy, including orders that solar, wind, hydroelectric and other forms of renewable energy provide 10 percent of nation’s power by 2010. it also has ordered key industries to reduce energy consumption (消耗) by 20 percent.
Politicians and activists said Chian’s defensive attitude of the past has given way to constructive discussions at the Bali climate change conference. Beijing has also taken the lead among developing countries in calling for wealthier nations to speed up the transfer(轉(zhuǎn)換) of cleaner technologies to emerging economies to help move away from fossil fuels.

Invisible ink has fascinated kids for generations. You might think that it would be difficult to make, but it’s not.
All you’ll need for this experient is some milk; some white paper; a clean cotton swab (藥簽) or small, clean paintbrush; the kitchen stove; and help from an adult. The most difficult part of this mini-project is choosing the message that you’ll write with your invisible ink. Maybe you’ll want to pretend that you’re a spy on a secret mission, writing messages that would lead to big, big trouble if they were discovered. Choose your words carefully.
All you need to do is, using the brush of cotton swab, write your message with milk on the paper. Don’t use a lot of milk and soak the paper. Use just enough to make a thin coating.
Once you’ve finished writing, ask the adult who’s helping you to turn on the kitchen stove to a low heat. Very carefully, using kitchen mitts ,hold the paper about a foot above the warm burner. If you don’t see results, you may have to make the burner a little hotter.
Do not, however, hold the paper low over the burner. As the paper heats up, your message will become brown and you’ll be able to see what was written. You want to know why? It’s because chemical compounds in the milk have a low burning point. When the paper gets warm, those compounds will heat up and trun brown, while the paper will be unaffected.
You also can try this experiment with other liquids, such as orange juice, lemon juice, vinegar, and apple juice. Just be sure to follow all safety rules and have an adult around to help you.
