When the recent research was analyzed, it was found that a lot of people wanted free pictures or free music from the Web. If it couldn’t be free, then they wanted it “new” or at least at a low price. It seems that 70 percent of people aged 16 to 24 download music online but only 1 in 40 tracks are bought legally.
Thus, some companies are planning to give all of their music away for free. The music will be totally free except that you will have to pay with your time by watching ads. This will be perfect for those who have lots of time but little money.
The Web has encouraged a belief that things can be free, or at least very cheap. It seems that everyone is looking for a good deal on the Web. The desire for free objects is part of the nature of the Web because the Web is about self-service and self-service is all about being free, cheap, fast and convenient. It’s interesting how words change their meaning. Stealing has now become file sharing, but it’s not really stealing, is it?
Free is a funny word. We all know that very little is really for free. If we go searching on the Web for free music, we know or should know that there are risks involved. However, it doesn’t matter. We still want free things, or at least the sense that we’re getting a real bargain and that at a minimum we’re saving time.
What can be the worst experience on the Web? A site that charges us high prices and wastes our time.
57. The passage mainly talks about ________.
A. the nature of the web B. the web and the culture of “free”

58. Why do some companies “sell” their music for free?
A. Their music is not popular and is out of date.
B. Most people have lots of time but little money.
C. Their music can’t be sold new or for a low price.
D. They can earn money from the ads added.
59. Which of the following can best describe the belief of the Web?
A. Risky behavior. B. Stealing. C. File sharing. D. For fun.
60. We can learn from the text that ________.
A. things that are free always involve risks
B. it is wrong to download free things from the Web
C. most people can get a real bargain on the Web
D. there is no need to surf the Net for a bargain

As his quitting date comes near, Matt McDonnell, 51, has been thinking about his life as a smoker. “It has such power over me,” he admits, “but this is something I don’t want to continue doing.”
Diagnosed with a lung disease two years ago, the private investigator who has smoked 36 years is well aware of the damage cigarettes have done to his health.

Rescue workers and volunteers in
For 35 dolphins in danger there was only one chance for survival―to be sent to the Marine Mammals Care Centre.
The dolphins were placed in a water pool where they have been given care round the clock by hundreds of volunteers who signed up for four-hour shifts (輪班). By the second week in April, only 11 of the original 35 were still alive.
Each year thousands of dolphins, the lovely marine mammals, are found beached or stranded (使擱淺) along coastlines around the world. They can’t get back to the sea and will die if they don’t get help, according to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society’s website.
Nobody knows what caused the dolphins to strand themselves, but the US Navy and marine wildlife experts are investigating whether the dolphin stranding was caused by sonar (聲納) exercises of ships. And some scientists suggest disease, or human interference (干擾). The reason for stranding isn’t completely understood.
In the pool, volunteers hold the dolphins and keep their blowholes out of the water so they can breathe. A vet injects the mammals with vitamin E to help with muscle cramping (抽筋). Unable to eat on their own, they are fitted with a feeding tube to get them the needed nutrition.
“Today we made the first steps in getting them to eat dead fish and to eat them out of our hands,” Banick said. It’s a race against time and feeding times must be strictly kept to.
