I used to be the messiest person alive. Over the years, through watching others and by trial and error, I have finally found ways to come up with plans, organize them and follow through with them.

Make an outline of everything you need to have and do to make your plan happen. Make a list of all of the steps that need to be accomplished and think about what needs to be done.

Detail everything thoroughly and read over it so you can start coming up with some mental solutions of how to carry out your plans.

You should ensure that if for some reason way one doesn’t work, you have way two and way three to lean back on. Therefore, different ways are needed at hand. It’s just a matter of being organized. Chances are that there is always more than one way of doing things, and chances are that if one of those ways doesn’t work, one of the other ones will.

Committing yourself to finishing at least part if not all of your plan at once is also necessary. It will show that you not only have initiative to get things rolling, but that you are interested in the results obtained with making the move to get everything done.

If you make a commitment to finish before a specific time, make sure that you carry that out, and be sure to do everything in the way you said you would, within the time-frame you set for yourself.

Don’t try to tackle more things all at a time. All that does is delay your progress, distract you and make you lose your interest, motivation and energy.

Carrying out an effective plan requires being as organized as possible. You will only achieve this by sticking to the order of the plan and not deviating or trying to do more at a time.

Last but not the least, you should never abandon things mid-project. It will only annoy everyone around you including yourself. Unfinished plans are a waste of time, energy and, in some cases, even money.

So, don’t be afraid of organization. The older we get, the more necessary it becomes to have the skills necessary to follow through with confidence and to be able to carry through plans in an organized and manageable way. It pays to be organized, after all.

Literature is a term used to describe written as well as spoken material.Generally speaking, it is often used to describe anything from creative imagination, including works of poetry, drama and fiction.

Then why read literature, since it is often imaginary and seems unconnected with real life?

A lot of us read literature for pleasure and relaxation. It’s always pleasant to read some interesting books, such as comedies and novels, in our spare time.In a modern life full of pressure, it is our common desire to read some imaginary works and seek relaxation from the stress in life.

Reading literature is more than fun; it also enables us to acquire knowledge. As a general rule, literature represents a language or a people, and it often gives us an insight(洞察力)into the traditions, customs, beliefs, attitudes and values of the age in which it was written.

Sometimes literature can even offer us new, creative ways to have a better understanding of the world. It helps us make sense of the world around us.It introduces us to new worlds of experiences. We enjoy the comedy and the tragedy of poems, stories and plays; and we may even grow through our literary journey with books.Eventually, we may discover meaning in literature by looking at what the author says and how he/she says it.In a sense, we explore the human condition and analyze how and why people think the way they think and feel the way they feel.Literature enables us to think analytically and promotes open minds. We see the world through the eyes of different cultures and in turn learn the ways to deal with things that happen around.

So we can definitely say literature is of great importance to us.Why not get going with one poem, drama or fiction at once?

Many people think a telephone is a necessity. But I think it is a pest (有害的事物) and a time waste. Very often you find it impossible to escape from it. If you have a telephone in your own house, you will admit that it tends to ring when you least want it to ring; when you are asleep, or in the middle of a meal or a conversation or when you are just going out, or when you are in your bath. Are you strong-minded enough to ignore it? You are not. You think there may be some important news or message for you. I can assure you that if a message is really important it will reach you sooner or later. Have you ever rushed crippling from the bath, or chewing from the table, or dazed from the bed, only to be told that you are a wrong number?

But you will say, you need not have your name printed in the telephone directory, and you can have a telephone which is only usable for outgoing calls. Besides, you will say, isn’t it important to have a telephone in case of sudden emergency—illness, accident, or fire? Of course, you are right, but here in a thickly populated country like England one is seldom far from a telephone in case of dreadful necessity.

I think perhaps I had better try to justify (證明是有理的) myself by trying to prove that what I like is good. I admit that in different circumstances—if I were a wealthy and powerful businessperson, for instance, or badly ill and had to lie in bed, I might find a telephone a necessity. But then if I were a taxi-driver I should find a car as necessity. Let me put it another way: there are two things for which the English seem to show particular talent: one is mechanical invention, the other literature. My own business happens to be with the use of words but I see I must now stop using them, for I have had just been handed a slip of paper to say that somebody is waiting to speak to me on the telephone. I think I had better answer it. After all, one never knows, it may be something important.

Educating girls quite possibly harvests a higher rate of return than any other investment available in the developing world. Women's education may be an unusual field for economists, but increasing women's contribution to development is actually as much an economic as a social issue. And economics, with its focus on incentives(鼓勵), provides an explanation for why so many girls are deprived of(剝奪)an education.

Parents in low-income countries fail to invest in their daughters because they do not expect them to make an economic contribution to the family: girls grow up only to marry into somebody else's family and bear children. Girls are thus seen as less valuable than boys and are kept at home to do housework while their brothers are sent to school — the prophecy becomes self-fulfilling, trapping women in a vicious circle (惡性循環(huán)) of neglect.

An educated mother, on the other hand, has greater earning abilities outside the home and faces an entirely different set of choices. She is likely to have fewer but healthier children and can insist on the development of all her children, ensuring that her daughters are given a fair chance. The education of her daughters then makes it much more likely that the next generation of girls, as well as of boys, will be educated and healthy. The vicious circle is thus transformed into a virtuous circle.

Few will argue that educating women has great social benefits. But it has enormous economic advantages as well. Most obviously, there is the direct effect of education on the wages of female workers. Wages rise by 10 to 20 per cent for each additional year of schooling. Such big returns are impressive by the standard of other available investments, but they are just the beginning. Educating women also has a significant effect on health practices, including family planning.

But the fact is that if you don’t have the money to back it up, you won’t be able to do this. You may find the best thing for you is to visit some old castles in America. You can find these throughout the eastern United States, such as North Carolina. And you will also find great shopping and many other attractions for your vacation. Perhaps you are someone who has always wanted to go to Cancun for spring break. If you do not have the budget for this, Miami is also a great place. There are plenty of bars there. People who are concerned about pollution will be happy to know that clean and renewable energy sources that protect the environment such as solar energy are becoming possible alternatives.

Increasing demand for clean, renewable energy is driving a growing market for solar energy products.. Two of the main types of products that take advantage of solar energy are passive and active solar products. These two types of systems differ in how they are constructed and can also differ greatly in cost. Passive solar technology can be used to heat air or water directly using the sun's energy. Unlike

an active solar application, passive solar set-ups accomplish their task without the use of additional electrical components, such as fans that need an external electricity supply. Some solar space heating or water heating systems are active solar heating systems that have various components that call for external power sources. Because of their simplicity compared with active systems, passive solar heating systems generally are cheaper than active ones.

In addition to these solar heating systems, there are also solar power system available. Rather than using the sun's energy for heating applications, these systems change solar energy into electricity. An important part of these products is called photovoltaic cells, which generate electricity from light. As sunlight falls on a photovoltaic cell, the light's energy is changed into electricity that can then be used to power many kinds of electronic devices. Because of the complicated technology involved, these kinds of solar power systems can be very expensive.

If you and your friends wish to share a secret, you can write it in code, and no one else will be able to read it. Codes are one way of writing in secrets. Ciphers (暗碼) are another. In the code each word is written as a secret code or word number. In a cipher each letter is changed.

Codes and ciphers have played an important role in the history of the world. Julius Caesar, the Roman ruler who defeated almost all the countries in Europe about 2000 years ago, used a cipher when he sent secret messages to his troops. During American Revolution, George Washington’s spies used a kind of code to send him information about the enemy before his military (軍事的) action. In World War II , the American “broke”, or figured out, Japan’s most important navy codes and got enough information to destroy a powerful Japanese fleet (艦隊).

Storekeepers used codes to mark their goods. The codes showed how much was paid for the goods or when they were added to the stock. Businessmen used codes to hide plans from their business enemies. Sometimes personal letters or diaries were written in code. Many people enjoyed figuring out codes and ciphers simply as a hobby.

In the 16th century, codes and ciphers were very popular among scientists. They wrote messages to each other in code so that no one else would learn their secrets. Geronimo Gardano, an Italian astrologer (星相家), mathematician, and doctor, invented the trellis cipher. He took two sheets of paper and cut exactly the same holes in each one. Then he sent one sheet, which he called a trellis, to a friend and kept the other for himself. Whenever he wanted to write a message, he put his trellis, over the other sheet of paper and wrote the secret message through the holes. Then he removed the trellis and filled the rest of the paper with words that would make sense. When his friends received it, He put his trellis over the writing and read the secret message.
