Last year, I lost my best friend in high school. It seemed that everyone else’s life could just continue on in its 1way, but mine couldn’t. I wasn’t sure how I was going to be able to face 2and their gossip at school. I was forced to 3my routine on Monday morning as usual. In the evening I returned home from school 4completely defeated. All I wanted to do was 5into bed and wallow（沉迷于）in my own self-pity. I pulled back the covers on my bed and 6（n）7that it was to be opened on a8night that week.

There is one particular blue flower that has always caught my eye. I've noticed that it blooms only in the 2 hours, the afternoon sun is too warm for it. Every day for approximately two weeks, I see those beautiful flowers.
This spring, I 3 a wildflower garden in our yard. I can look out of the kitchen window while4 the dishes and see the flowers. I've 5 thought that those lovely blue flowers from the ditch would look 6 in that bed alongside other wildflowers. Every day I drove past the flowers7 , "I'11 stop on my way home and dig them." "Gee, I don't want to get my good clothes dirty..." 8 the reason, I never stopped to dig them. My husband even gave me a folding shovel one year for my trunk to be used for that 9 purpose.
One day on my way home from work, I 10 to see that the highway department had mowed the ditches and the pretty blue flowers were11. I thought to myself, "Way to go, you waited too long. You should have done it when you first saw them 12 this spring."
A week ago we were 13 and saddened to learn that my oldest sister-in-law has a terminal brain tumor. She is 20 years older than my husband and14 , because of age and distance, we haven't been as 15 as we all would have liked. I couldn't help but16 the connection between the pretty blue flowers and the 17 between my husband's sister and us. I do believe that God has given us some time18 to plant some wonderful 19 that will bloom every year for us.
