題目列表(包括答案和解析)
There is one difference between the sexes on which every expert and study agrees: men are more aggressive than women. It shows up in 2-year-olds. It continues through school days and persists into adulthood. It is even constant across cultures. And there is little doubt that it is rooted in biology.
If there's a woman’s trait(特點(diǎn)) which is the same as men’s aggressiveness, it's what social scientists refer to as the result of "education". Feminists have argued that the caring nature of women is not biological in origin, but rather has been forced into women by a society that wanted to keep them in the home. But the signs that it is at least partly inborn are too numerous to ignore. Just as tiny infant girls respond more readily to human faces, female toddlers(學(xué)步者) learn much faster than males how to pick up nonverbal cues(非言語暗示) from others. And grown women are far more skilful than men at interpreting facial expressions: A recent study by University of Pennsylvania brain researcher Ruben Gur showed that they easily read emotions such as anger, sadness and fear. The only such emotion men could pick up was disgust.
What difference do such differences make in the real world? Among other things, women appear to be somewhat less competitive--or at least competitive in different ways--than men. At the Harvard Law School, for instance, female students enter with qualities just as outstanding as those of their male peers. But they don' t qualify for the well-known Law Review in proper numbers, a fact some school officials owe to women' s discomfort in the incredibly competitive atmosphere.
Students of management styles have found fewer differences than they expected between men and women who reach leadership positions, perhaps because many successful women deliberately imitate men. But an analysis by Purdue social psychologist Alice Eagly of 166 studies of leadership style did find one difference: Men tend to be more “autocratic”-making decisions on their own--while women tend to consult colleagues more often. Studies of behavior in small groups turn up even more differences. Men will typically dominate the discussion, says University of Toronto psychologist Kenneth Dion, spending more time talking and less time listening.

C. women are as excellent as men when they are young
D. academic qualities are not equal to performance

“There is an out – of – date idea that children grow up and leave home when they’re 18,and the truth is far from that,” says Mr.Larry Bumpass of the University of Wisconsin.Today unexpected numbers of young adults are living with their parents.“There is a great change in the middle class,” declares Allan Schnaiberg of Northwestern University, whose son, 19, moved back in after an absence of eight months.
Scientists show a number of reasons for this return to the nest. The marriage age is rising, a condition that makes home and its pleasantness particularly attractive to young people.A high divorce (離婚) rate and a low remarriage rate make some differences. For some, the expense of an away - from - home college education has become so great that many students now attend local schools.Even after graduation, young people find their wings tied by terrible housing costs.
Living at home, says Knighton, a school teacher, continues to give security (安全保衛(wèi)) and moral(道義的) support. Her mother agreed.“Its strange for the kids to pay all that money for rent.It makes sense for kids to stay at home.” But sharing the family home requires changes for all. There are the hassles over bathrooms, telephones and privacy. Some families, however, manage the careful balancing act.But for others, it proves too difficult.Michelle Del Turco, 24, has been home three times and left three times.“What I considered a social drink, my dad considered an alcohol (酒精) problem,” she explains.“He never liked anyone I dated, so I either had to hide away or meet them at friends' houses.”
Just how long should adult children live with their parents before moving on? Most scientists feel lengthy homecomings are a mistake.Children, can end up with a sense of defeat and failure. And aging parents, who should be enjoying some freedom, find themselves stuck with too many things. Many agree that brief visits, however, can work well.

There’s a time to get angry, and it’s best for your child if you do. Let’s say your child hits a playmate with a toy hard enough to make the other child cry. How can you teach your child to feel sorry so he or she won’t do it again? Researchers say the best way for parents to react(反應(yīng))is to show their anger and to let the child know exactly why they are mad.
Many parents believe that it is best to control their feelings and to wait until they’re calm before scolding their children. But the mother or father who explains reasonably to a child , “Peter was crying because you hit him,” is not likely to attract much attention. Young children need to be scolded immediately, and strongly, before they’ll take criticism (批評)to heart.
When your young child does something wrong, scold him or her seriously at once. At the same time be sure to tell the child clearly what he or she has done wrong. An angry reaction without an immediate explanation does little good. Forbidding a child to play outside or not allowing him to watch TV as a punishment works well-but only when taken together with an explanation. Make sure your child understands that although his or her wrongdoing has made you angry, you still love him or her. Use simple, direct words such as, “You hurt peter. How would you feel if he hit you? You must never, never hurt people.” If your voice expresses strong feeling clearly, your message will carry enough weight.
According to researchers, how should parents react when their child did something wrong?
A.Ask the child not to do it again any time.
B.Show the child how angry they are and tell him why.
C.Teach the child why and how to say sorry to others.
D.Let the child know you still love hime or her.
What do many parents think they should do with the wrongdoer?
A.Calm themselves down before scolding him.
B.Hide their feelings when talking to him.
C.Explain immediately why he was wrong.
D.Speak strongly and angrily to him.
What could be the best title for the text?
A.Different Ways to Deal with Children’s Wrongdoings
B.Differences among Parents in Dealing with Children
C.Best Ways to Stop Children’s Wrongdoings
D.Research on Preventing Children from Hurting Others
There are several reasons for hair loss in women. However, in most cases, treatment is quite effective. Female hair loss patterns in women are not as easily recognizable as they are in men. A woman may experience it temporarily(暫時(shí)地) due to pregnancy or illness, although they may experience it for other reasons.
Hair loss can be due to a variety of factors, including a genetic tendency ( which is not genetically linked to just one parent—both parents contribute to the tendency to lose hair).
Women who are experiencing hair problems seem to have more limited choices than men. There are some female hair loss treatments that are available such as the Tricomin System which is a topical treatment that is nutrition based. Shen Min for Women is another natural treatment that contains herbs (草藥) that are said to stimulate(刺激) hair growth and even restore hair that is graying to its natural color.
The majority of the popular, proven hair loss treatments are only intended for men and are not suitable for women. True, a woman’s hair issue is different from a man’s. The biological makeup is different and the needs are different. Women have different needs and their bodies react in different ways to environmental changes, physical illness and even the treatments that are available. There are many natural treatments such as vitamin and mineral supplements that are said to stimulate hair growth, but, for the most part, these claims are currently unproven.
One of the first and most important factors to effectively treating is to get a diagnosis from a doctor. Talk to your doctor about any symptoms that you may be experiencing in addition to the thinning hair. Stress, weight loss or gain, illness and depression, all of these can be contributing factors.
It can be learned from the 1st paragraph that ___________.
usually hair loss is hard to heal
female hair loss is more common than the men’s
women tend to suffer from hair loss during the pregnant period
only illness contribute to hair loss
Which of the following statements matches the text about the two treatments?
Both are to solve the problem of male hair loss.
Tricomin System is effective in speeding the growth of the new hair
Shen Min is an updated way of treating hair loss
The former is nutrition-based, while the latter is medicine-based.
The reasons for the differences between the female and male hair loss problems do not include ______________.
The biological structure and composition of the hair
The wants and needs
The reactions and responses to the outside changes
The approach to taking exercise
The natural treatments __________.
include vitamin and mineral supplements
are applied to keep the hair healthy
have been proved useful
are the most commonly-used ways
