Dear Mr. Price,
I have eaten in your restaurant many times and have always been happy with the food and service. This makes what happened last Saturday even more disappointing(失望).
It was my son’s birthday so we booked a non-smoking table at your restaurant for 7:30 p.m. We arrived on time but were told that our table was not yet ready. At 8:00 p.m., we were given a table in the smoking area. I asked to move but I was told that there were no other tables. A lot of people were smoking so it was uncomfortable and unhealthy.
Our first waitress, Janet, was very polite and helpful. She gave us free drinks for waiting so long. Our food also came quickly and looked fresh and tasty. When my wife had eaten most of her meal, she found a dead cockroach(蟑螂)in her vegetables. She was shocked and wanted to leave. At first, the waitress told us it was a piece of garlic(作料).When we told her it had legs, she apologized
(="said" sorry) and took the food away.
We asked for the pay for my wife’ s meal bill, expecting not to pay for my wife’s meal. Nobody came. After 15 minutes, I asked to see the manager. The headwaiter told us that you were on holiday. I complained again about the horrible cockroach. He told me Janet had finished work. He didn’t believe my story and gave me a bill for three meals. I argued with him but was forced(被迫)to pay.
The waitress, Janet, was always friendly, but I would like an apology from your impolite headwaiter and a full refund(退款)for our meal. It cost $68. Until then, I will not be eating at your restaurant or recommending it to anyone.
You can contact me at 742-3254 or through e-mail if you want more information.
Thank you for your attention.
Yours sincerely,
Raymond Yuen【小題1】

I remember a time l went shopping on my first visit to Hung Kong.Coming from cold and cloudy England,I was prepared for the sun and dressed in a T-shirt and a short skirt. Not having much chance to enjoy the sun in the UK and having naturally fair skin(白皙皮膚),my legs were very white. In the UK this is not a fashionable look at all. Most women spend every sunny day out in the suit trying to get darker skin. The darker the shin, the better the look.I have tried to get darker but nothing works for me!
As I walked around one shop, two shop girls didn’t take their eyes off me the whole time, talking quietly to each other in Chinese.I began to feel uncomfortable and asked my friend if we could leave. After we left the shop, she asked me what was wrong.I complained(抱怨)about the shop girls being very rude and always looking at my legs.I was embarrassed(尷尬) that they were talking about my white skin.My friend laughed,“They weren’t laughing at you. They were saying how nice your legs are. Many Chinese women want to have white skin like yours. In fact, there are many beauty products in the shops to make skin whiter and a lot of money is spent on them.”
It just goes to show that we are never happy with what we have. The grass is always greener on the other side.If the women of the West and East thought the same way, western women wouldn’t spend so much money on cream that makes skin darker and women from the East wouldn’t need to use cream that makes skin whiter.
