In most space-themed films, whenever Earth faces a disaster, the solution is always running away from the planet in spaceship. But the latest Chinese sci-fi movie, The Wandering Earth, offers a different idea.

The movie is based on a short story by Chinese sci-fi writer Liu Cixin. In the film, Earth is in danger of being destroyed by the dying sun. Half of our planet’s population is already dead and big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai are destroyed. To save the Earth, the whole world works together and comes up with a plan: Move the whole planet to a safe place. Instead of running away from Earth, this time we’re taking it with us.

Earth goes wherever humans go, because it’s our home. That makes The Wandering Earth different for Hollywood-style space films. And the makers of the film may have chosen the best time to tell its Chinese sci-fi story. The film was shown on Feb.5, the first day of Chinese New Year. Ti was a time when many people had just made the hard journey back to their hometowns. “What is Chinese sci-fi?” Guo Fan, the film’s director, said in an interview. “Chinese sci-fi can really express our culture and spirit. If we can’t do that, we’re just copying and telling the same American stories.”

I think this is a great movie. When facing a disaster, people from different parts of the world work together to save out planet. I was actually moved to tears by it. It is a movie you can’t miss.

1.In the latest Chinese sci-fi movie, _____ will destroy our planet

A. Earth B. humans C. aliens D. the sun

2.Who thinks of the plans to move the Earth in the film?

A. Liu Cixin B. The whole world C. Chinese D. Guo Fan

3.According to the passage, we know that ______

A. Chinese sci-fi movie are the same as Hollywood-style space films

B. The Wandering Earth tells us a story about a superhero.

C. The writer loves The Wandering Earth because it’s an interesting Chinese movie

D. The Wandering Earth expresses the spirit of Chinese people.

Today, an increasing number of people are always looking at their mobile phones with their heads down. These people are called the “Heads-down Tribe(低頭族)”. Are you a heads-down tribe member? Heads-down tribe members now can be seen everywhere.

More and more traffic accidents are happening because more drivers use mobile phones when they are driving. In order to make drivers pay more attention to driving, some new traffic rules have been made. For example, people who use mobile phones while driving in Taiwan are fined (罰款). Car drivers and motorcyclists who break the traffic rule will be fined NT$3,000 and NT$1,000 respectively(分別地).

As we can see above, using mobile phones may cause accidents and even cost a lot of money. Also, more and more interesting and strange facts happen to the “Heads-down Tribe”. Let’s have a look at an interesting TV report. A man in America kept using his mobile phone on his way home.

As a result, he knocked into a big lost bear. When he lifted his eyes from the phone,he was so afraid that he turned around and ran away quickly.
