Good morning. The program today is about music. The word “music” comes from the Greek(希臘) word “muse”. The Muses are the goddesses(神) of the arts. Music is only one of the arts. When they reach high school, they become interested in listening to pop music.
The records we have chosen for you today are from American country music, Indian music, pop music and so on. Music has meaning for everyone. It can make people happy or it can make them sad. In this program we shall study the language of music. We shall be trying to find out more about how music works. We shall try to find out how music says what people feel.

  One afternoon, I went to pick up my mother from work. I got there a little early, so I        my car by a small park, and        for her.

Top student Lin Yijian had a problem recently. The 14-year-old boy from Xiamen used to get marks of over 110 points (out of 120 possible points) on his math tests. But during last semester's final exams, his math score was only 90 points.
It was a shock. "I didn't know what happened," said Lin, who kept feeling nervous and frustrated about math during the following month.

Chen Xingzhu in Shenzhen also has a story to tell. The 15-year-old girl is not good at doing sit-ups (仰臥起坐), which is necessary for the coming high school PE entrance exam. One has to do at least 35 sit-ups in a minute to pass the test. Most of Chen's classmates can do 40. However, Chen could only do 20.
Feeling worried, Chen decided to do something. She did sit-ups for half an hour every day after school. Now, after a month, she can do 30 sit-ups a minute.
"I finally found what made me slow through continuous practice and then improved little by little," said Chen. "I believe next month I will be able to do 40!"

I saw the patience of a young wife describing paintings to a person without sight and the courage of a husband who would not allow blindness to change his life. And I saw the love shared by two people as I watched this couple walk away hand in hand.

Now you’ve finished three years of English study. There’s one way to demonstrate(展示) what you’ve learned－take a test!
Do you have any special methods you use to help you do better on a test? How well you do is often a matter of how well prepared you are. Here are some ways to make sure you’re at your best on test days.
Go to bed early. The night before a test is not the time to stay up watching TV. You want to be rested and wide-awake for test day.
Have a good breakfast. Test day isn’t a morning for donuts. Nor is it a time to starve(挨餓) yourself. Eat plenty of low-sugar, high-energy food to keep your brain and body working their best.
Be prepared. Make sure you have two pencils and anything else you were asked to bring.
Watch the numbers. Make sure that the number of the items(項目) on your answer sheet matches the number of the question.
Look over all the answer choices. Don’t assume(假定) that choice A is correct until you’ve checked the others. You may find a better one. And it is wrong to eliminate(排除) any choice that you can see at once. You’ll have a better chance of finding the right answer.
