Dear Jim,
I'm writing to express my thanks for your help during my stay in the USA.I've been back home safely but I am still lost in the good days spent togeter with you and your family.
I'm really grateful for your good care and kind help in America.Arriving there,my language was not very good, and do you still remember you help me with my presentation on Mr.Donald's lecture?Without your help with my language,I must have fooled myself.Besides this, you took me out to so many places of interests, which brought me a great grasp of ancient and present-day America. The most touching and warmest experience was having met and stayed with your family, which is a democratic, open, friendly and encouraging family.I have to say that I love you all from the bottom of my heart.
I can't thank you more, and I hope in the near future you'd like to visit Beijing,China. Then,I can try my best to pay you back.I'd like to introduce you to all my family and friends, and I'm hoping to take you to the Great Wall, one of the seven wonders in the world.
I'm looking forward to your reply.Wish you good luck!
Yours,
Li Hua.

7.People are being lured(引誘) onto Facebook with the promise of a fun,free service,and don't realize that they're paying for it by giving up loads of personal information.Facebook then attempts to make money by selling their data(資料) to advertisers that want to send targeted (目標(biāo)的)messages.
Most Facebook users don't realize this is happening.Even if they know what the company is up to,they still have no idea what they're paying for Facebook, because people don't really know what their personal details are worth.
The biggest problem,however,is that the company keeps changing the rules.Early on,you could keep everything private.That was the great thing about Facebook-you could create your own little private network.Last year,the company changed its privacy rules so that many things-your city,your photo,your friends'names-were set,by default(默認(rèn)),to be shared with everyone on the Internet.
According to Facebook's vice president Elliot Schrage, the company is simply making changes to improve its service, and if people don't share information, they have a"less satisfying experience."
Some critics think this is more about Facebook looking to make more money.Its original business model,which involved selling ads and putting them at the side of the page,totally failed.Who wants to look at ads when they're online connecting with their friends?
The privacy issue has already landed Facebook in hot water in Washington.In April,Senator Charles Schumer called on Facebook to change its privacy policy.He also urged the Commission to set guidelines for social-networking sites."I think the senators rightly communicated that we had not been clear about what the new products were and how people could choose to use them or not to use them,"Schrage admits.
I suspect that whatever Facebook has done so far to invade(侵犯)our privacy,it's only the beginning,which is why I'm considering deactivating(撤銷(xiāo)) my account(賬號(hào)).Facebook is a handy site,but I'm upset by the idea that my information is in the hands of people I don't trust.That is too high a price to pay.
56.What do we learn about Facebook from the first paragraph?C
A.It is a website that sends messages to targeted users.
B.It makes money by putting on advertisements.
C.It earns money by selling its user's personal data
D.It provides a lot of information to its users
57.What does the author say about most Facebook users?A
A.They don't know their personal data enriches Facebook
B.They are unwilling to give up their personal information
C.They don't identify themselves when using website
D.They care very little about their personal information
58.Why does Facebook make changes to its rules according to Elliot Schrage?D
A.To help its users make more friends
B.To obey the Federal guidelines
C.To make money by attracting more users
D.To offer better service to its users
59.What does Senator Charles Schumer argue for?B
A.Setting guidelines for advertising on websites
B.Setting rules for social-networking sites
C.Stopping sharing user's personal information
D.Removing ads from all social-networking sites
60.Why does the author plan to stop using his Facebook account?C
A.He is dissatisfied with its service.
B.He finds many of its users untrustworthy.
C.He doesn't want his personal data badly used.
D.He is upset by its frequent rule changes.

1.Music is considered as a"universal language",without which our culture can't exist.We begin life affected by music; babies begin to respond to music before they are born.We often hear that playing music for your baby helps him or her become smarter.Recently,a piece of new research suggests that playing music to babies helps their brains to develop and leads them to become better communicators as they grow up,especially a faster rhythm song.
The study was led by Laurel Trainor,study author and director of the McMaster Institute for music and the Mind.Her paper was titled"Active music classes in babies enhance musical,communicative and social development".And the new research,published in the journal Development Science,shows that listening to music affects the development of the brain in babies.The Study looked at one-year-old babies.The babies showed positive response to interactive music classes,smiling more,communicating better,and showing changeable brain responses to music.
Laurel Trainor divided babies into two groups.In the first group were babies that took part in an interactive music-making class,where they and their-parents learned to play musical instruments and sing nursery rhymes and songs with actions.In the second group babies spent that time playing with various toys.
After six months,babies in the first group,who took part in the interactive classes were earlier sensitive to the high sounds in music.Babies from interactive music classes showed quicker brain responses to musical tones,while babies in the second group,who had been playing with toys,did not show such preferences.
The two groups of babies also showed differences in non-musical skills.Those who had taken part in the interactive classes showed better communication skills,like pointing at objects and waving goodbye,and smiled more.They were also easier to calm and seemed less anxious in unfamiliar situations.
