The candles we make at Wax Buffalo are imperfect-"beautifully imperfect',as we like to say. one is unique, hand-poured (手工灌注的)with pure soy wax (大豆蠟). It's a small business 1 started, and everyone who enjoy, working here comes into the studio in free time, so they can be home with their family, cats, dogs at prime times.
I first fell in love with candles on visits to my grandmother Feme's house in Lincoln. At night, candlelight flashed off the book-lined walls. During the day, she'd take me to a cafe in the historic Haymarket district and we'd drink tea out of china cups.
I poured my first candle at the age of 14, using the candle-making tool that Feme had given me. I gave the finished product to my grandmother for Christmas. She loved that candle I'd made for her. That first candle was imperfect. Beautifully imperfect
Then in 2014. life took a dark turn for my grandmother. The breast cancer took away her life. I found myself thinking about the candle-making tool she had given me as a 14-year-old kid and the joy it had brought me. I began pouring candles again, making them for friends. Because of kids' health. I'd become especially interested in natural products. I used locally sourced soy wax. Was there a way I could make candles for people beyond my group of friends? And so, Christmas of that year, Wax Buffalo was launched. Little by little, the business grew as we found more people who wanted our candles. Now our candles are sold in more than 60 shops across the country.
Isn't life wonderful? Indeed, it is beautifully imperfect. But it hasn't turned out at all how I'd have predicted. I think that's what Ferne wanted me to understand. To trust the light of hope, to enjoy fun in its light, to know that it can transform a person from within.

It's a small business I started, and everyone who enjoy, working here comes into the studio in free time, so they can be home with their family, cats, dogs at prime times.
Then in 2014. life took a dark turn for my grandmother. The breast cancer took away her life.(后來在2014年,我祖母的生活陷入了黑暗。 And so, Christmas of that year, Wax Buffalo was launched.(于是那年圣誕節(jié)Wax Buffalo啟動了)可知,作者在祖母去世那一年的晚些時候開始做蠟燭生意。B. Asking for help is a sign of strength rather than weakness. In American culture, the independent individual is seen as their ideal. As the University of Missouri at St. Louis states on its website under the heading Key American Values, “Americans have been trained since very early in their lives to consider themselves as separate individuals who are responsible for their own situations in life and their own destinies.” The value also makes them think they can do everything themselves, and makes them feel bad about asking for help when they need it.
And when it comes to work situations, when they think about asking for help there, sometimes they fear that a request for help would make them look inept. While this has always been true for men, many women in the workplace have felt the need to try twice as hard as their male colleagues and do twice as much to get just as far and to prove their worth. Sometimes when we think about asking for help, our inner voices tell us, “See, if you admit you can’t do this on your own, they’ll see you for the imposter (騙子) you really are.”
But the fact is, even though individualism is on the rise, we can’t do everything by ourselves and we shouldn’t try.
Apple founder Steve Jobs once told the Santa Clara Valley Historical Association about the power of asking for help, and how he “never found anybody who didn’t want to help me when I asked them for help”. He said, at the age of 12, he called Bill Hewlett, co-founder of Hewlett-Packard, on the phone after getting his number from the phone book and asking him for spare parts so he could build a frequency counter(計頻器). And Hewlett agreed and offered young Jobs a summer job assembling frequency counters.
“If you’re afraid of failing, you won’t get very far,” Jobs said.
【1】What is the first paragraph mainly about?
A.What key American values are.B.Why Americans refuse to ask for help.
C.Asking for help is a sign of strength.D.Americans are responsible for their life.
【2】Which of the following can replace the underlined word “inept” in Paragraph 2?
A.impoliteB.depressedC.incompetentD.sensitive
【3】What can be learned from this US cultural phenomenon?
A.Americans suffer a lot from mutual distrust.
B.Americans see weakness as a sign of strength.
C.Americans should learn to build up confidence.
D.Americans think highly of individual values.
【4】What can we learn from Jobs’ words in the last paragraph?
A.Don’t hesitate to ask for help.B.Be brave to try whatever you want.
C.Never ask for help.D.Learn to cooperate with others.

Researchers in the Netherlands report that children who get more exercise, whether at school or at other places, tend to have higher scores on standardized tests. In a review of 14 studies that looked at physical activity and academic performance investigators found that the more children moved? the better their grades were in school, particularly in the basic subjects of math, English and reading.
The data will certainly fuel the ongoing debate over whether physical education classes for senior three students should be reduced or even cancelled. The arguments against physical education have included concerns that gym time may be taking away study time. With standardized test scores in the US dropping in recent years, some administrators believe students need to spend more time in the classroom instead of on the playground. But as these findings show, exercise and academics may not be consequently exclusive. Physical activity can improve blood flow to the brain, memory, attention and creativity, which are essential to learning.
1. 用約3個單詞概述上述信息的主要內容;
