(40)FSome books are such that instead of doing any good,they do harm to the readers.So it is the rading of

Books are written by learned people""Writers put in their books not only their own ideas and feelings, but also what they observe and find in society"可知G項"通過閱讀偉大的思想者寫的書,我們能與他們的思想交流"符合語境;故選G.
37.E. If we are in a cheerful mood, our joy is increased by reading"及下文中的"They provide us with the best advice and guidance in our difficulties""help us in our hour of need"可知,接下來要說的是一種與前面相反的情況,故E項"When we are in a depressed mood, books comfort our troubled minds"符合語境;故選E.
38.C. Loneliness is no trouble for a reader"暗示本空選C項"當我們獨自一人時,書是我們最好的朋友";故選C.
They give us sound moral advice.It is through the reading of books that we learn what to love and what to hate講的都是讀書的好處,總結起來就是:讀書能給人以智慧,故選B.
Some books are such that instead of doing any good,they do harm to the readers說的卻是一些書對讀者有害,可知讀書不一定完全是好的;故選F..

9.Students who date in middle school have significantly worse study skills. They are four times more likely to drop out of school and report twice as much alcohol and tobacco use as their single classmates, according to a new research from the University of Georgia.
"Romantic relationships are a trademark of adolescence, but very few studies have examined how adolescents differ in the development of these relationships,"said Pamela Orpinas, study author and professor in the College of Public Health and head of the Department of Health Promotion and Behavior.
Orpinas followed a group of 624 students over a seven-year period from 6th to 12th grade. Each year, the group of students completed a survey indicating whether they had dated and reported the frequency of different behaviors, including the use of drugs and alcohol.Their teachers completed questionnaires about the students'academic efforts. He found some students never or hardly ever reported dating from middle to high school, and these students had consistently the best study skills according to their teachers.Other students dated infrequently in middle school but increased the frequency of dating in high school.
"At all points in time, teachers rated the students who reported the lowest frequency of dating as having the best study skills and the students with the highest dating as having the worst study skills,"according to the journal article.Study skills refer to behaviors that lead to academic success such as doing work for extra credit being well organized, finishing homework, working hard and reading assigned chapters.
"Dating a classmate may have the same emotional effect of dating a co-worker,"Orpinas said,"When the couple break up,they have to continue to see each other in class and perhaps witness the ex-partner dating someone else.It is reasonable to think this could be linked to depression and distract attention from studying."
"Dating should not be considered a ceremony of growth in middle school,"Orpinas concluded.
