Usually, a wedding's main focus is on the bride and groom. However, one couple were upstaged by a huge brown bear that they invited to be a part of their special day.

Denis and Nelya, both 30, from Moscow, Russia, hired 21-stone Stepan to play the role of ringbearer — and he even turned up to their ceremony wearing a black bow tie.

The bear, which stands seven-foot tall, was very involved with the ceremony, even posing for photos with both bride and groom.

At one point he even acted as the registrar and joins paws with the couple as they professed their love for each other. Standing underneath a cream fabric canopy(華蓋) and surrounded by greenery, flowers and fruit, Stepan helped the couple on their wedding day.

Denis said, “We both knew Stepan is a very kind bear but still it is a huge, unpredictable animal so we were a bit scared, but still happy to be able to make our dream come true. It was a fantastic experience to have this photo shoot with Stepan. We will absolutely remember this day forever.”

Stepan the bear first found fame in May 2016, when a series of photos of the tame animal were published. He was adopted by Russian couple Svetlana and Yuriy Panteleenko aged just three months after being discovered by hunters in the forest, having lost his mother.

Svetlana said, “Stepan likes nothing more than to cuddle up with us on the sofa at night while we're watching television. He absolutely loves people and is a really sociable bear — despite what people might think, he is not aggressive at all. We have never been bitten by Stepan.”

Robots make me nervous—especially the ones which seem to think for themselves. I was embarrassed to admit this till I heard that Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, felt the same way.

Gates said in an interview with the social networking and news website Reddit: “I am in the camp that is concerned about super intelligence. First the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent．That should be positive if we manage well. Maybe the problem with computers too clever for us is not that they are evil like some we’ve seen in sci-fi movies. What could put us in danger is that they might be too efficient. That’s what philosopher Nick Bostrom from Oxford University believes. He says that machines are indifferent (漠然) to humans and in pursuit of their own goals，the destruction of people might be just additional damage. Bostrom gives us an example: A machine which might have as its only goal to produce as many paperclips as possible might look at human bodies as extra material for paperclips and go after you. Because it is, well, a machine, it would not take pity on you.

It’s a good thing that American writer Isaac Asimov thought about how far robots can go and left us his three rules of robotics. They state that a robot may not hurt a human being or allow the human being to come to harm.

I’m glad my machines at home are “dumb”. All my cleaner wants to take over is the carpet in my living room. Let’s hope they don’t create an appliance which wants to take over the world!

The Canadian red and white maple leaf(楓葉) flag is officially called the National Flag of Canada. The committee studied 2,000 submitted(提交的) designs as well as 3,900 that had been gathered as a result of the 1946 committee's study. Those designs with a chance of being accepted were given to the full committee for further study.

The suggestion of a red and white single maple leaf design for the Canadian flag came from George Stanley, a professor at the Royal Military College. After a heated discussion, they finally decided on his suggestion.
