A new report says_____(承諾)children money does not help exam grades.
【2】waste;考查名詞,前文中提到錢(qián)不會(huì)幫助孩子提高分?jǐn)?shù),It could be a w of money using cash to get kids to study more.
【3】However;考查連接詞,_______, taking kids on a trip somewhere nice could encourage them帶孩子去某些好的地方去旅行可以鼓勵(lì)……,前文中提到金錢(qián)不會(huì)利于孩子,而這里是有益于孩子的,所以這里表示轉(zhuǎn)折。
【4】harder;考查形容詞的比較級(jí),______________,(努力)and do better at sch001后文中有do better,和and前的內(nèi)容應(yīng)是同級(jí)的,所以填harder表示更努力的。
努力)and do better at sch001.Of 10,000 pupil_________ (調(diào)查)in the research.
【6】that/which;考查定語(yǔ)從句,先行詞是things,是物,所以連接詞用that或者which。
【7】achieve;考查動(dòng)詞,that education is a way to a ,their dreams,教育是實(shí)現(xiàn)他們夢(mèng)想的方法。Achieve their dreams實(shí)現(xiàn)他們的夢(mèng)想。
【8】difference;考查名詞,but there are other kids who think one’s efforts make little d , 但是有些別的孩子認(rèn)為每個(gè)人的努力幾乎沒(méi)有差別。Make little difference幾乎沒(méi)有什么不同。
【9】of;考查介詞,because of后面直接跟名詞genes,表示因?yàn),由于…? These kids might think exam success is because___________ genes and their family background.
【10】matters;考查動(dòng)詞,what really m is how students are taught真正的重要的是如何教孩子。

Most young people enjoy some form of physical activity. It may be walking, cycling, or swimming, or in winter, skating or skiing. It may be game of some kind football, hockey, golf, or tennis. It may be mountaineering.
Those who have a passion for climbing high and difficult mountains are often looked upon with astonishment. Why are men and women willing to suffer cold and hardship, and to take risks on high mountains? This astonishment is caused probably by the difference between mountaineering and other forms of activity to which men give their relaxation.
Mountaineering is a sport and not a game. There are no man-made rules, as there are for such games as golf and football. There are, of course, rules of a different kind which it would be dangerous to ignore (忽略), but it is this freedom from man-made rules that makes mountaineering attractive to many people. Those who climb mountains are free to use their own methods.
If we compare mountaineering and other more familiar sports, we might think that one big difference is that mountaineering is not a “team game”. We should be mistaken in this. There are, it is true, no “matches” between “teams” of climbers, but when climbers are on a rock face linked by a rope on which their lives may depend, there is obviously teamwork.
The mountain climber knows that he may have to fight forces that are stronger and more powerful than man. He has to fight the forces of nature. His sport requires high mental and physical qualities.
A mountain climber continues to improve in skill year after year. A skier (滑雪者) is probably past his best by the age of thirty, and most international tennis champions are in their early twenties. But it is not unusual for man of fifty or sixty to climb the highest mountains in Alps. They may take more time than younger men, but they probably climb with more skill and less waste of effort, and they certainly experience equal enjoyment.
【1】 The main difference between a sport and a game lies in ______.
A. activity B. uniform C. rules D. skills
【2】 Mountaineering can be called a team sport because ______.
A. mountaineers depend on each other while climbing
B. teams compete against each other
C. it is an Olympic event
D. there are five climbers on each team
【3】 Mountaineers compete against ______.
A. each other B. nature
C. other teams D. international standards
【4】 Which of the following might be the best title?
A. How to Climb High Mountains B. Mountain Climbers
C. Challenging Sports Activities D. Mountaineering

You never see him, but they're with you every time you fly. They record where you are going, how fast you're traveling and whether everything on your airplane is functioning normally. Their ability to withstand almost any disaster makes them seem like something out of a comic book. They're known as the black box.
When planes fall from the sky, as a Yemeni airliner did on its way to Comoros Islands in the India ocean June 30, 2009, the black box is the best bet for identifying what went wrong. So when a French submarine (潛水艇) detected the device's homing signal five days later, the discovery marked a huge step toward determining the cause of a tragedy in which 152 passengers were killed.
In 1958, Australian scientist David Warren developed a flight-memory recorder that would track basic information like altitude and direction. That was the first mode for a black box, which became a requirement on all U.S. commercial flights by 1960. Early models often failed to withstand crashes, however, so in 1965 the device(裝置) was completely redesigned and moved to the rear of the plane – the area least subject to impact – from its original position in the landing wells (起落架艙). The same year, the Federal Aviation Authority required that the boxes, which were never actually black, be painted orange or yellow to aid visibility.
Modern airplanes have two black boxes: a voice recorder, which tracks pilots' conversations, and a flight-data recorder, which monitors fuel levels, engine noises and other operating functions that help investigators reconstruct the aircraft's final moments. Placed in an insulated ( 隔絕的) case and surrounded by a quarter-inch-thick panels of stainless steel, the boxes can withstand massive force and temperatures up to 2,000℉. When submerged, they're also able to emit signals from depths of 20,000 ft. Experts believe the boxes from Air France Flight 447, which crashed near Brazil on June 1,2009, are in water nearly that deep, but statistics say they're still likely to turn up. In the approximately 20 deep-sea crashes over the past 30 years, only one plane's black boxes were never recovered.
【1】In Paragraph 1,the author wants to say the black box_________.
A. is an necessary device on an airplane
B. comes from a comic book
C. can prevent disasters
D. can control the function of an airplane
【2】From the black box on the Yemeni airliner_________could be found.
A. the scene of the crash and the degree of the damage
B. the total number of passengers on board
C. data for analyzing the cause of the crash
D. homing signals sent by the pilot before the crash
【3】Why was the black box redesigned in 1965?
A. New materials became available by that time.
B. The early models often got damaged in the crash.
C. Too much space was needed for its device.
D. The early models didn't provide the needed data.
【4】The black boxes were painted orange or yellow to_________.
A. distinguish them from the colour of the plane.
B. warn people to handle them with care
C. make them easily identified.
D. obey the international standards.
【5】What do we know about the black boxes from Air France Flight 447?
A. There is still a good chance of their being recovered.
B. There is an urgent need for them to be reconstructed.
C. They have stopped sending homing signals.
D. They were destroyed somewhere near Brazil.
