Mike McClure walked into Sarasota Bay for a little fishing on a beautiful day last April. This afternoon, the water was shallow enough at low tide  that McClure could easily walk 100 yards offshore and cast(投)his line in any direction.
Near sunset, still without a fish, he decided to turn back. Rather than turn to his earlier course, he chose a more direct path toward shore, thinking the bay wouldn't get deeper along the way. Instead, he was trapped. He tried to walk in different directions, but shallower water eluded(避開(kāi))him. Finally, he decided his safest choice was to head straight for land.
"Within  about five steps, the water was coming in through the top of the waders(高筒防水膠靴)," says McClure.
He felt the deadweight of the flooding waders pulling him down and knew that if he didn't get out of them, he would drown. But he failed to kick his way out of the waders. Instead, they pulled him completely below the surface.
Back onshore, Eliza Cameron, 19, Loren Niurka Mora, 20, and Caitlin Petro, 20, had been watching McClure fish as they rested on the grass after a long week of classes. They saw McClure go under and then heard him cry, "Help!”
The three friends kicked off their shoes and ran into the bay. They were all good swimmers, but all hid a fear that he might pull them down too because they'd have to dive to save him.
When they reached him, he'd managed to kick himself out the waders, but his eyes had partly rolled back. Cameron and Mora each hooked an arm under his shoulders, while Petro supported his back and held his hand. Then the three friends tried their best to tug him towards shore. Finally, they all returned to shore safely.

He was a funny—looking man with a cheerful face, good—natured and a great talker. He was described by his student, the great philosopher Plato,as“the best and most just and wisest man”.Yet this same man was sentenced to death for his belief.
The man was the Greek philosopher,Socrates. He was sentenced for not believing in the recognized gods and for corrupting young people. The second charge arose from his association with many young men, who came to Athens from all over the civilized world to study under him.
Socrates’ method of teaching was to ask questions and, by pretending not to know the answers,to press his students into thinking for themselves. His teaching had great influence on all the Greek and Roman schools of philosophy.Yet, for all his fame and influence, Socrates himself never wrote a word.
Socrates encouraged new ideas and thinking in the young, and this was frightening to the people who held traditional views. They wanted him silenced.Yet, many were probably surprised that he accepted death so readily.
Socrates had right to ask for less punishment, and he probably could have won over enough of the people who had sentenced him before. But Socrates, as a firm believer in law, reasoned that it was proper to accept the death sentence. So, he calmly accepted his fate and drank accept of poison in the presence of his sorrow-stricken friends and students.

Directions: Read the following text and choose the most suitable heading from the list A-F for each paragraph. There is one extra heading which you do not need.?
A.The Decade of Internet Revolution
B.The Era of National Misfortune
C.The Era of Misplaced Anxiety
D.The Decade of Great Feats
E. The Decade of Youth Heroism in Distress
F. The Decade of Great Imbalances
The first decade of the new millennium has come to an end. It’s become a sort of habit to give a representative name to each decade, so, once again, an effort is under way to find a term to fit the years from 2000 to 2009.
80. __________
That shouldn’t be too hard a job for us here in China. First, no country has seen economic growth in the last decade like this. The economy quadrupled, with almost double-digit annual growth, and GDP went from No.6 to No.3. It’s now only slight below that of Japan, and many are saying that it will only be another year or two before we have the world’s second largest economy. In addition, in 2008, China was host to the Olympics, possibly the best organized and hosted Games over, and that impressed the world and boosted Chinese confidence.
81. _________
The economy developed at a breakneck pace, and personal wealth mushroomed--- for many, anyway. Salaries multiplied, stock market investment and real estate were a bubble, then burst, then became a bubble again. China now has one of the largest collections of millionaires and billionaires in the world, and has helped keep the world’s luxury products industry from going under. Meanwhile, the earnings gap has widened in an unprecedented way. Millions are still living near the poverty line and the urban poor has become an obvious problem.
82. _________
Yet, how could we think of the changes without including the Internet? If one thing can be credited with making the most changes in people’s lives, it should be the World Wide Web. We learned to use e-mail, chatrooms, and BBS at the beginning of the decade, and, after witnessing one dotcom burst, it’s time for the second Internet entrepreneurial wave. This time, however, it’s in the form of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Kaixin, as well as video-sites like Youtube and Tudou.
83. __________
Oh, and who could forget the many misfortunes, and the tragedies, that befell China in the last 10 years: mining accidents that killed dozens at a time, a public health crisis like SARS, or the disastrous Wenchuan earthquake that destroyed towns and thousands of family. We seem to have a disproportionate share of tragic things happening here. At the same time, the Chinese, especially  younger ones, have shown an amazing ability to recover from these disasters and be stronger and more unified. Millions of young volunteers poured into Sichuan to offer their help, as they did in other emergencies.
84. ___________
The West has a generally darker view of this past decade. One of The New York Times articles in mid-November said that, in thinking about a name from the American point of view, it seems difficult to find the right expression for so much upheaval, change, and worry: the Y2K millennium bug, which never caused much damage and chaos, the alleged weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, which were never found; and so on. The United State launched two wars after 9/11, but never realized that the real threat to American interests lay in its own economy and finances until the sub-prime crisis, erupted in 2007.
Others find it an almost impossible job to name the decade, saying it will take many years to name the 2000s because it will take many years to figure out what we feel that we lost during that period.

51  . However, the real movie capital is Mumbai, in India. Mumbai used to be known as Bombay, and so the film industry there is called “Bollywood”. Bollywood makes twice as many movies each year as Hollywood – more than 800 films a year.
52  .For one thing. Bollywood movies are much longer than most Hollywood movies. Most Bollywood movies are more than three hours long, and contain singing, dancing, action, adventure, mystery, and romance. Because Bollywood films contain so many different features, this style of film is sometimes called a “masala” film.(“Masala” is an Indian word for a mixture of spices.)
53  .It takes much longer to make a movie in Hollywood than in Bollywood. In fact, filming may begin on a Bollywood movie before the script(劇本)is even finished. The director and writer can make up the story while the film is being made.  54  .
Bollywood actors are very popular and some are in such high demand that they may work on several movies at the same time.  55  . Since most Bollywood movies follow the same kind of story, shooting scenes for several films at the same time is not a big problem for actors or directors. This also helps keep the cost of Bollywood movies lower than the cost of Hollywood movies. The average Bollywood film, with a budget(預(yù)算)of only two million U. S. dollars, seems very cheap compared to the average budget of sixty million U.S. dollars for a Hollywood film – thirty times as much!
A.Another big difference between Bollywood and Hollywood movies is the way the movies are made.
B.Bollywood produces more movies than Hollywood.
C.Most people think that the capital of the movie world is Hollywood, in the United States.
D.They may even shoot scenes for several films on the same day using the same, clothes and scenery.
E.Only Indian people can understand Bollywood movies.
F.Sometimes they will even write the script by hand instead of taking time to type it.
G.The movies from Bollywood are very different from Hollywood movies.
