【答案】September 5th Saturday Fine
Today we went on an organized trip to Ultima Thule. We set out in the school bus at 7:20 am. The weather was pleasant and all of us were excited. After two hours’ ride, we arrived there at 9:30. We began our program as soon as we got off the bus. We played games on the sands and swam in the water happily. Then we had lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon we held a contest of telling stories in English. The winners were given beautiful prizes. Many photos are taken there. We enjoyed ourselves very much. At half past five we returned safely.
What an unforgettable trip!

Last summer I had a chance to visit Paris. That attracted me most was the Eiffel Tower, where has become a symbol of France. I was deeply impressed by their height. I have never seen such tall building before! It is made of iron and it is about 7000 tons heavy. There have 1711 steps from the bottom to the top. Climb the tower made me very tired, but I was very exciting. I took a lot of photo in Paris.
I have much memories and experiences to share. I will remember my trip to the France forever!

【題目】Dear Alfred,
I want to tell you how important your help is to my life.
Growing up, I had people telling me I was too slow, though, with an IQ of 150+ at 17, I’m anything but stupid. The fact was that I was found to have ADHD. Anxious all the time, I was unable to keep focused for more than an hour at a time.
However, when something did interest me, I could become absorbed. In high school, I became curious about the computer, and built my first website. Moreover, I completed the senior course of Computer Basics, plus five relevant pre-college courses.
While I was exploring my curiosity, my disease got worse. I wanted to go to college after high school, but couldn’t. So, I was killing my time at home until June 2012 when I discovered the online computer courses of your training center.
Since then, I have taken courses like Data Science and Advanced Mathematics. Currently, I’m learning your Probability course. I have hundreds of printer paper, covered in self-written notes from your videos. This has given me a purpose.
Last year, I spent all my time looking for a job where, without dealing with the public, I could work alone, but still have a team to talk to. Luckily, I discovered the job—Data Analyst—this month and have been going full steam ahead. I want to prove that I can teach myself a respectful profession, without going to college, and be just as good as, if not better than, my competitors.
Thank you. You’ve given me hope that I can follow my heart. For the first time, I feel good about myself because I’m doing something, not because someone told me I was doing good. I feel whole.
This is why you’re saving my life.
Yours,
Tanis

【題目】Microsoft founder Bill Gates has opened up about being a parent, stating that 13 is an appropriate age for a child’s first cell phone.
The 57-year-old, father-of-three, revealed on the Today Show that his children Jennifer and Rory were not allowed phones until their thirteenth birthday and his youngest daughter Phoebe is still waiting for one.
“We’ve chosen in our family that it’s 13 where you get a phone,” the self-made billionaire explained.
He said as a result his children often return home from school complaining:“All the other kids have it. I’m the only one without it, and it’s so embarrassing.”
Asked if he keeps passwords to his son and daughters’ email and Facebook accounts, Mr Gates said that he doesn’t for Jennifer, 16, who he describes as “independent”.
He admitted that monitoring online activity is “a very tricky issue for parents now.”
Despite their vast wealth Mr and Mrs Gates, who live in Lake Medina, just outside Seattle, Washington, have said they want to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible.
It was previously reported that their youngsters have to complete household chores and are given a modest amount of pocket money.
And in 2010 Mr Gates said that he intended to give most of his $ 61 billion fortune away rather than hand it down. “That wouldn’t be good either for my kids or society,” he said.
Also during the “Today” Interview with host Matt Lauer, Mr Gates, who stepped down from Microsoft in 2008 to concentrate on philanthropy (慈善事業(yè)) , said that helping others gives him the same excitement as creating software.
“What you really feel is what you’ve achieved. If a piece of software gets out there and lots of people love it-it lets them get their work done in better ways-that’s exciting,” he explained.
