M:Achoo!
W: Your’re going to Machu Picchu?
M: No! That’s just me sneezing.
W: Ew! That’s terrible! Haven’t you heard “Cough and sneeze, elbows, please”?
M: wh...what? Why would I sneeze into my elbows when I can sneeze into my hands?
W: Because that is the easiest way to spread the germs!
M: I thought covering your mouth would help prevent the spreading of the germs.
W: Yes, but what happens after that? What about the things you would touch after that?
M: I hadn’t thought of that.
W: Ideally, you should use a tissue when you cough or sneeze and wash your hands later. But if you don’t have a tissue, then make sure you use your elbow to cover your mouth. And later, wash your elbow!
M: Cough and sneeze, elbows, please. I shall remember that!
W: Also, if you are in a crowd of people, cough or sneeze downwards to avoid sneezing directly at someone’s face.
M: I will remember that too when I go to Machu Picchu!
W: Are you sneezing again?
M: Not achoo, Machu Picchu.
W: Ha-ha.

【題目】閱讀下面短文, 根據(jù)所給情節(jié)進(jìn)行續(xù)寫,使之構(gòu)成一個(gè)完整的故事。
It was a peaceful night. I was sleeping with my brothers, feeling warm and comfortable. Mama was sleeping nearby, covered by snow. Papa was somewhere nearby, watching over us. There was a bright moon and we had all had a good meal of venison (鹿肉) Papa had caught earlier.
“Uncle Louis is coming”, Papa said. We loved Uncle Louis. He was a funny wolf, and always had interesting things to tell us and show us.
A little while later, Uncle Louis appeared. We did not approach him with respect the way we approached Papa. We flew at him, jumped all over him, and rolled him in the snow. Uncle Louis laughed and patted us with his paws. He is black all over, with yellow eyes, and he is very tall.
“It's the longest night of the year” , Uncle Louis said, “Does everyone feel like taking a run through the woods? I want to show you something unusual.”
Hearing that, Papa warned that it was dangerous to go near that pack of humans who lived in the woods.
“They are hardly dangerous”, Uncle Louis laughed, “They are so clumsy and make so much noise. They are not able to get near us--or even see us if we don't want them to. Besides, this is their special night. They are quite peaceful and won't be bothering about wolves.”
“Oh, please, Papa, let us run through the woods with Uncle Louis and see something unusual! “ We all begged.
“It is a fine night”, Papa smiled, “I must admit, I do feel like running.”

【題目】 Los Angeles is always a popular holiday destination. To fully enjoy your travel there, you should know its food, weather, and also traffic. While driving in L. A. is similar to that in other areas, there are a few specific rules to note.
HOV lanes (車道)
On many L. A. freeways, one or more lanes at the far left are used as high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes. They usually have limited access and you can only enter or exit where there is a break in the double yellow line. Most HOV lanes require a minimum of two people in the car; some require three. Vehicles towing trailers (拖車) are NOT allowed in the HOV lane, regardless of how many people are in them.
Toll (收費(fèi)) lanes
On certain freeways, the HOV lanes are double-purposed as toll lanes for people driving alone who have a FasTrak, an electronic toll collection system. Therefore, you also have to have one in that lane as a HOV, which is inconvenient if you’re just visiting. FasTrak is in effect on parts of the 110 freeway between the 405 and 10 freeways, and on parts of the 10 freeway east of Downtown L. A.
Cell phones
It is against the law to talk on a cell phone while driving without using a hands-free device. Holding a cell phone to your ear while driving will land you with a ticket.
Alcohol
Driving under the influence is taken seriously in L.A. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.08%, but you can be charged with lower levels if they show you can’t function normally. Placing an opened bottle of alcohol in the passenger area while driving (or sitting) is illegal. Any opened container of alcohol has to be transported in the trunk.
【1】What do you know about HOV lanes?
A.They encourage people to share cars.
B.They are on the far right of freeways.
C.They are intended for larger vehicles.
D.They allow cars to enter over the double yellow line.
【2】Which is surely against the road rules in L. A.?
A.Driving on the 110 freeway with a FasTrak.
B.Putting the cell phone in the car while driving.
C.Riding with an opened bottle of alcohol in back seats.
D.Going below the blood alcohol limit of 0. 08%.
【3】Where is the text most probably taken from?
A.A traffic law.B.A road map.
C.A guidebook.D.A report.

【題目】 While studying at Jadavpur University, Banerjee wanted to find a creative and socially beneficial alternative to bricks. Along with his classmates, Banerjee created, a social enterprise called Qube in 2017. Its product is the Plastiqube-an alternative brick made from waste plastic.
Banerjee and his team work with waste collectors to gather garbage, including water bottles and abandoned bags. The garbage is then cleaned, cut up and pressed into blocks by hand. “Each Plastiqube brick costs 5 to 6 rupees (about 8 cents) to make, while the average clay brick sells for about 10 rupees (14 cents),” Banerjee says. What 's more, unlike traditional bricks, Plastiqubes don' t use any mortar (砂漿). “They are basically like Lego bricks,” explains Banerjee, now aged 22. He adds,“There are interlocking designs on the bottom and the top, and they lock between each other.
India is estimated to throw away over 25, 000 tons of plastic waste every day. Around 40% of it is left uncollected. “We’re building something sustainable (可持續(xù)的) out of garbage,” Banerjee says. By taking coal and mortar out of the brick making process, Banerjee claims Plastiqubes can reduce energy use by 70 percent, generating a much lower carbon foot-print than traditional bricks.
Each Plastiqube brick contains 1.6 kilograms of waste plastic. They haven't yet been tried out for practical purpose but tests on their fire resistance and long- term steadiness are now in progress. Banerjee believes they will last even longer than traditional clay bricks, while removing waste plastic from the environment for centuries.
Banerjee's innovation has, already won him recognition. He was a regional finalist for the United Nation's 2018 Young Champions of the Earth awards. He is also part of the Yunus and Yunus Global Fellowship. Banerjee will not only encourage young engineers to dream big, but also to think carefully about the environmental impact. “My advice is to start something while keeping a goal that it has to be sustainable in the long term,” he says.
【1】Why did Banerjee invent Plastiqube ?
A.To reduce the cost of bricks.B.To protect the environment.
C.To control the usage of mortar.D.To raise his company 's reputation.
【2】Which of the following makes the new bricks join together?
A.Mortar.B.Lego bricks.
C.Average clay.D.Interlocking design.
【3】How does the text describe the characters of Plastiqube?
A.By explaining the process.B.By analyzing some cases.
C.By listing some data.D.By giving examples.
【4】What can we learn from the text?
A.Banerjee has won lots of national awards.
B.Producing Plastiqube needs little labor force.
C.Plastiqube hasn't been used to build houses.
D.Banerjee likes inspiring teenagers to go for dreams.
