5. take改為taken
6. an改為a
7. at改為of
8. hold改為held

10. sincere 改為sincerely
my → your 考查代詞! 故my → your。
固定短語be interested in something意思是“對……感興趣”。本句意思是:我對這份工作很感興趣并想應(yīng)聘這個職位。
去掉at 考查介詞。apply for something就是申請某物或某事,介詞for的后面不需要再加別的介詞。故去掉at。
an改為a 考查冠詞。a part - time job是“一份臨時工”的意思,part-time的讀音是以輔音開始,因此用a,而不能用an。故an改為a。
at改為of 考查介詞。固定短語in terms of是“在……方面”的意思。
hold改為held 考查非謂語動詞。held in our school last year是過去分詞短語作后置定語,限定前面的名詞短語the English speech competition,且短語和hold之間是被動關(guān)系,故用過去分詞表示被動和完成。

Every year, about 600 monkeys are invited to eat fruits and vegetables during an annual feast(盛宴)in Thailand. 【1】It is said that Rama once rewarded his friend Hanuman, the Monkey King, with some land. Organizers of the annual Monkey Buffet use more than 3,000 kg of fruits and vegetables to prepare for the feast.
This event is held in England. Though it might sound very gentle, it is actually very dangerous. Running down a very steep hill behind a 7-pound wheel of cheese can be very dangerous. In fact, the police have attempted to ban the event, but participants have refused to carry out the ban. Men and their cheese wheels cannot be separated so easily. 【2】 Simple: the cheese is set rolling down the hill, and the racers run down the hill after the cheese. However, as the cheese can reach speeds of up to 70 miles per hour, it rarely happens that someone catches the cheese. 【3】
In this festival, grown men jump over newborns, with their parents’ permission. 【4】 This custom has been observed since 1620; any onlookers who seem to be in need of "cleaning" also get involved in the event.

The writings of Shakespeare are today little read by young people in Britain. His young readership is limited to those who choose to study literature at university.
Shakespeare’s work, together with most other classics, is seen as remote, and written in a 400yearold version of English that is about as inviting as toothache.
Still, in Britain schools, it is compulsory to study the bard(詩人), and when something is made compulsory, usually the result is boredom, resentment(憎恨) or both.
This was my experience of the classics at school. But when I reached my late teenage years, I had a change of heart. Like every other young person since the dawn of time, the world confused me. I wanted answers, so I turned to books to find them.
I went on to take a PhD in literature and have taught it in Britain and China. I have never regretted it. There is something in literature that people want, even if they don’t read books. You see this in the popularity of TV and movie adaptations of great works, the recent film version of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice being a case in point. These popular adaptations may help increase people’s interest in the classics.
Reading a simplified Romeo and Juliet may perhaps lead to a reading of Shakespeare’s actual play. If that is the case, then I welcome the trend. But do not make the mistake of thinking that it is the same thing. Shakespeare is a poet. His greatness is in his language. Reading someone else’s rewriting of his work is like peeling a banana, throwing away the fruit, and eating the skin. Take on the original. It really is worth the effort.
【1】Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. The language used in classics is no longer in use today.
B. British students usually find compulsory reading dull.
C. Only those studying literature read Shakespeare’s works.
D. For British people, Shakespeare’s works are no longer classics.
【2】According to the passage, the writer .
A. has liked literary classics since an early age
B. was forced to read the classics for a PhD
C. turned to literature to seek answers in his teens
D. thinks only people who read books like literature
【3】The underlined phrase "a case in point" in Paragraph 5 is closest in meaning to " ".
A. a great hit
B. a good example
C. a movie adaptation
D. a popular phenomenon

I’m a huge book lover but like sharing my love for books! So I’ve been buying books frequent. Finishing reading one book, I often placed it in or around my school. In that case, some of my schoolmate can help themselves to a book. I especially like placing it on the only stone table in our school garden, in it students may have time to take up a rest. It was until last weekend that I saw a card leaving on the table to say thanks. And from the card, I knew my book turned out to be a birthday gift for a strange girl. I was so happy to find that my book could bring anyone pleasure!
