While a female politician or first lady can use her clothing to create a favorable image, male politicians don't have as many fashion choices to play with, But Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to have discovered a goldmine - his socks.
He's been seen wearing"statement socks".at many public events. For example, during a NATO(北大西洋公約組織) meeting in Brussels in May, Trudeau wore one blue sock and one pink, both with the NATO symbol printed on them. And in June, he wore a pair of socks with the pattern of maple leaves a national symbol of Canada --- when he appeared on a TV show.
The New York Times editor Vanessa Friedman praised Trudeau's play on his socks as"clever
"Socks are subtle enough not to be distracting, but visible enough that you can't miss the point, she wrote, "Rarely have a man's ankles said so much."
One example is a pair he wore during a meeting with Enda Kenny, then the prime minister of Ireland, in Montreal on May 4. During their meeting, Trudeau wore Star Wars socks-simply because that day happened to be Intemational Star Wars Day. If this pair of socks sent out any message, according to Vogue magazine reporter Emily Farra, that message was just that he has a quirky side and loves George Lucas films, " she wrote.
However, some say that 45-year-old Trudeau's unusual sock choices show a childish side of the prime minister that proves he isn't mature enough to be the leader of a country.
But Friedman doesn't see it that way. "The socks have been a source of pride and applause on an international scale-a symbolboth of Mr Trudeau's ability to embrace multiculturalism and of his position as a next-generation leader not bound by old traditions. "she wrote. They have opened up possibilities for the future.
【1】Trudeau wore a pair of socks with the pattern of maple leaves to __________.
A.distract audience's attention from the TV show

答案定位到第二段最后一句,a national symbol of Canada --- when he appeared on a TV show,楓葉是加拿大的標(biāo)志,因此加拿大首相以自己國(guó)家為驕傲。
He's been seen wearing"statement socks" at many public events.
The socks have been a source of pride and applause on an international scale-a symbolboth of Mr Trudeau's ability to embrace multiculturalism and of his position as a next-generation leader not bound by old traditions. "she wrote.(襪子一直是國(guó)際范圍內(nèi)的驕傲和掌聲的來(lái)源——象征著Trudeau先生擁抱多元文化主義的能力和他作為新一代領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人不受舊傳統(tǒng)束縛的地位!彼龑(xiě)道。)表明Trudeau先生能融入多樣文化,并且不受傳統(tǒng)束縛。故選C。
【4】主旨大意題。第一段While a female politician or first lady can use her clothing to create a favorable image, male politicians don't have as many fashion choices to play with, But Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to have discovered a goldmine - his socks.(雖然女政治家或第一夫人可以利用自己的著裝來(lái)塑造良好形象,但男政治家卻沒(méi)有那么多的時(shí)尚選擇,加拿大總理Trudeau似乎發(fā)現(xiàn)了一座金礦——他的襪子。)
如第1小題,答案定位到第二段最后一句,a national symbol of Canada --- when he appeared on a TV show,楓葉是加拿大的標(biāo)志,因此加拿大首相以自己國(guó)家為驕傲。故選B。

【題目】 The cracked (有裂縫的) step four years ago was the start of it. That day, I awoke tired—the children were tiny and needing so much—and I had a golden afternoon of rest ahead, my mother stepping in to allow me to catch up on my sleep. I dropped them off and drove home—the sun shining and my bed signaling. As I was about to enter the house, I caught sight of a deep crack beneath my feet.
Without thinking, I turned around, walked back to the car and drove to a DIY store. Four hours later, I had all the tools, had mixed my own cement (水泥), filled in the crack and repaired the foundation. Perfect. As I stood up to take a photo of my handiwork, I realized that I was trembling. I’d forgotten my shot at a nice long nap, and my children were already on their way home. That sleep... that promise to self was broken, because I had focused, instead, on the crack in the step.
Suddenly, everything started to hurt. My head, my throat, my back. I couldn’t stop shaking. What earned then is that when we break the promises we make to our bodies they will not be silenced. This is when we overwork and overthink to the point of breaking down. Ironically (諷刺地), for many of us, it is only when we have no choice— when we fall ill—that we learn to listen. For me, when that crack ended in a hospital stay which sent me to bed for two unmoving weeks while my body worked to clear two different infections, the lesson is ever present. I did it to myself—a whole twisted spin on DIY.
Sadly it took another two ridiculous DIY projects to finally get through. The cracks will never be fully filled. Focus, then, on your own inner core the feeding of that light, that fire and that strength.

【4】What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A.To present a way to fill a crack.

Huawei Technologies Co. displayed its much-anticipated in-house operating system Harmony OS on Friday, marking what some call the Chinese tech giant’s biggest push yet to build its own software ecosystem for the era of the internet of things.
The move is also expected to weaken the influence of the United States government’s restrictions on Huawei using Google’s Android operating system in smartphones, analysts said.
Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group, speaking in Dongguan, Guangdong province, said it is difficult to deliver a smooth experience across different devices with the huge amount of codes involved in the Android and Linux operating systems. Linux is an open-source operating system widely used in personal computers and other hardware.
“Harmony is a next-generation operating system designed to address the challenge,” Yu said, adding that it will be able to support a wide range of application situations, including smart TVs, automobiles and wearables.
The internet of things refers to a network of devices and other objects that can connect with each other and exchange data.
Yu said the US government’s restrictions have accelerated the company’s marketing of the system, which now has about 4,000 employees working on it.
The senior executive said Harmony can be used in its smartphones. But Android is still Huawei’s preferred choice for handsets if the company is allowed to use it.
“But when Android is not available, Harmony can be applied immediately to smartphones. Harmony is ready,” Yu added.
Jia Mo, an analyst at market research company Canalys, said even if Huawei does not use Harmony in its smartphones in the short term, its smartwatches and smart TVs can be equipped with Harmony to widen its use and accumulate more experience in building an ecosystem.
“Also, more importantly, Huawei chose to build Harmony into an open-source operating system and allow it to be compatible with Android. Thus Harmony will be more accepted by current Android users. This will prevent Huawei from repeating the fate of Microsoft in promoting smartphone systems,” Jia said. Microsoft failed to popularize the use of its Windows system in smartphones years ago.
【1】What is the significance of the Harmony OS?
A.It symbolizes Huawei has finished its own software ecosystem.
B.It may reduce the threat from US government’s restrictions.
C.It will accumulate more experience in building an ecosystem.
D.It successfully borrows from Microsoft's Windows system.
【2】Which of the following may take the place of the underlined word “compatible” in the last paragraph?
A.Used harmoniously.B.Operated quickly.
C.Resisted fiercely.D.Monitored closely.
【3】Where may we find this article?
A.Fashion magazines.B.TV interviews.
C.Historic documents.D.News websites.

Much of my work as a coach includes helping people make an important decision, such as “If Im at a crossroads in my career, which path should I follow?” “If Im considering offers, which one should I accept?”
Difficult decisions like these remind me of a comment made by Scott McNealy, CEO of Sun Microsystems for years during a lecture while I was in a business school at Stanford. He was asked how he made decisions and responded, “Its important to make good decisions. But I spend much less time and energy worrying about making the right decision and much more time and energy ensuring that any decision I make turns out right.”
In fact, before we make any decisions, particularly those difficult ones, were anxious to focus on identifying the “best” option because of the risk of being “wrong”. But a side effect of that mindset(觀念模式) is that we pay too much attention to the moment of choice and lose sight of everything that follows. Its what happens next that finally determines whether a given decision was “right”.
Another aspect of this mindset is that our focus on making the “right” decision can easily lead to paralysis(麻痹), because the options were choosing among are so difficult to rank in the first place. How can we definitively determine in advance what career path will be “the best”, or what job offer we should accept? Obviously, we cant.
Focusing on the effort after our decision not only helps us succeed, but also reminds us that we play a role in every outcome. Our control should be in our day-to-day activities rather than in our one-time decision.
【1】What is the authors job?
A. To teach people to choose good careers.
B. To tell people how to adapt to a new city.
C. To help people make a vital choice.
D. To advise people to ask for a high salary.
【2】Which of the following about Scott McNealy is TRUE?
A. He tries his best to make his decision right in the end.
B. He never cares about whether his decision is good or not.
C. Making decisions is not very important for him.
D. He only focuses on the process rather than the outcome.
【3】Most people feel anxious when making an important decision because they ________.
A. dont know what to do next
B. cant find a good coach to give them advice
C. worry about the undesired result it may bring about
D. have no idea of what to expect
【4】What is the text mainly about?
A. Making the right decision is very important.
B. Stop worrying about making the right decision.
C. Believe in yourself and choose what you want.
D. Help others make the right decision.

We all know the value of taking a walk in the fresh spring weather. It allows your mind to relax and forget about the problems in everyday life. Studies have commonly shown the benefits of being around green spaces, including gardens, city parks and forests.
But did you know that being close to these natural surroundings during childhood could positively influence your mental health as an adult?
A study by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) surveyed 3,600 people from all over Europe, including Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania and the UK.
The all-adult study gave these volunteers a questionnaire on how frequently they used natural spaces during childhood – for example, playing in a garden, riding a bike at the park or hiking in a forest. They were also asked about the importance they put on using such places.
Volunteers were then given a psychological test, which included a variety of problem-solving activities, to learn about their mental state within a four-week period.
The results showed that the people who were more exposed to natural spaces had higher mental health scores compared to those with lower childhood exposure.
According to the study, 73 percent of Europe’s population only has limited chance to natural spaces. Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, director of ISGlobal’s Urban Planning, said that “Many children in Europe lead an indoor lifestyle… so we call on policymakers to improve the availability of natural spaces for children.”
While this study was based in Europe, a lack of green space can affect anyone, anywhere. So, remember to make time to immerse yourself in nature, as your mental health is just as important as the physical one.
【1】What was the purpose of the ISGlobal’s study?
A.To study the influence of childhood exposure to natural spaces.
B.To understand the mental health problems of children.
C.To see how childhood experiences shape adult life.
D.To examine the advantages of taking a walk.
【2】What do we know about the study?
A.The volunteers included both children and adults.
B.The volunteers were from all over the world.
C.It was made up of a questionnaire and a psychological test.
D.It focused on the volunteers’ physical health state.
【3】What does the underlined word “immerse” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.understand somethingB.lose oneself in something
C.protect against somethingD.imagine doing something
【4】Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A.The benefits of green spaceB.mental health or physical health
