Books are written by learned people" "Writers put in their books not only their own ideas and feelings, but also what they observe and find in society"可知,G項(xiàng)"通過閱讀偉大的思想者寫的書,我們能與他們的思想交流"符合語境,本段都是講閱讀有學(xué)問的人寫的書帶給人的益處,故選G。
If we are in a cheerful mood, our joy is increased by reading"及下文中的"They provide us with the best advice and guidance in our difficulties""help us in our hour of need"可推知,接下來要說的是一種與前面相反的情況,故E項(xiàng)"When we are in a depressed mood, books comfort our troubled minds"符合語境,當(dāng)我們處于消沉的情緒中時,書才會幫助我們。
Loneliness is no trouble for a reader(對讀者來說孤單不是問題)"暗示本空選C項(xiàng),"當(dāng)我們獨(dú)自一人時,書是我們最好的朋友"。
故空處要填一個能起承上啟下作用的句子,只有F(但是,如果我們的選擇不好的話,我們就不能獲得讀書的充分益處。)

On the day of college graduation, I told my friends and family the news:I was leaving the country I had lived in since childhood. “I just need a change,”I told them, but there was more. I was running from heartbreak. My relationship with the United States is the toughest one I have ever had, as a country I loved and believed in did not love me back.
Back in the 90’s, my mother brought me from our home in the Caribbean islands to the U.S.when I was 4 years old. She worked as a live-in nanny(保姆)for two years, playing mommy for white kids whose parents had better things to do. She didn’t believe that nanny meant maid, and did whatever was asked of her. She was thirsty to embrace her American dream, hoping that her children would be educated and she might have nannies of her own.
Those were our path to get a “good education.”When the neighborhoods with quality schools became too expensive for my mom to afford as a single parent, we went across the United States with Great Schools. net as our compass: New Jersey, elementary school; Texas, middle school; Florida, high school; New York City, private university
For a long time I survived by covering myself in all kinds of labels so that people would ignore the color of my skin, yet I existed on the edge of ugly, ignorant and uncultured. “Black people don’t really know how to swim, “a white lady told me when I worked as a swim instructor at my neighborhood’s pool. “The black children don’t like to read very much, “I overheard one librarian discussing with another while l sat down reading a book a couple feet away.
I was never able to make America my home. When I stripped myself of the labels painfully one by one, beneath them there is a wounded colored woman who refuses to be faceless anymore. My face may be disgusting to some since it bears proof that race continues to be a problem. My hope is that it will force Americans to re-examine their “post-racial” beliefs.
【1】What was the real reason that made the author leave the United States?
A. It couldn’t provide her with good education.
B. She just needed a challenge in her way of life.

A. She sacrificed a lot to live a better life in America.

D. She liked visiting all kinds of schools with the author.

A. how ignorant and uncultured many people are in US
B. she needed to cover herself in all kinds of labels

Rapid advances in a new technology will soon transform science fiction into reality — meaning people will have driverless cars, small robots at their command and the ability to experience being in another place without leaving home, predicted Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the planet’s largest cell phone trade show.
Introduction of books available online, Internet translation of languages and voice recognition for computers all happened much faster than anyone could foresee and that technological research into even more previously unheard of advances is progressing at a fast speed.
“People who predict that holograms(全息圖)and self-driving cars will become reality soon are absolutely right,” Schmidt told thousands of attendees. Research under way will lead to situations where people can put themselves at events like a rock concert so that they can see, hear and even feel the event. And turn down the volume, if it’s too loud.
One attendee said she was scared that the possibility could be dehumanizing, but Schmidt replied by holding up his cell phone into the air. “It has an off button and it is here on the right,” Schmidt said. “My point is that it is all about your control. If you don’t like my version of a rock concert, I’m not forcing you to go.” In the future, small robots could be used so busy people can send them to events for video and voice transmissions when their presence isn’t required, Schmidt said.
Technology in the near future will redefine the relationship among people in the world. “With technology comes power and with power comes choice, and smarter resourceful citizens are going to demand a better deal for their new life,” Schmidt said.
【1】From the passage, the new technology _________.
A. largely depends on science fiction
B. will eventually replace humans’ presence
C. amazingly improves people’s social skills
D. can unexpectedly bring new various choices
【2】Why did Schmidt give the example in Paragraph 4?
A. To list advantages of the new cell phone.
B. To advise a wider use of the new cell phone.
C. To remove people’s worry of the new technology.
D. To compare the benefits of using the new technology.
【3】What’s the writer’s attitude toward rapid advances in technology?
A. Objective. B. Negative. C. Uncared. D. Contradictory.
