【題目】The Mekong River, for thousands of years, has been the lifeline of the populations that depend on it for survival. The earliest settlements along the river date back to 2100 BC with the first recorded civilization—the Khmer culture of Funan. In the 5th century, the Khmer culture Chenla existed along the Mekong, and the Khmer empire of Angkor was the last great state in the region. Roughly 700 years ago, the Thai people escaped from South China across the Mekong to form the kingdom of Siam (now Thailand), and the Mekong protected Siam from invasions.
In 1540, the Portuguese Antonio de Faria was the first European to discover the Mekong. Although Europeans showed only some interest in the Mekong, the Spanish and Portuguese did make trade expeditions(探險) to the area, and the Dutch led an expedition up the Mekong in 1641-42. In the mid-19th century, the French led an exploration on the river between 1866 to 1868 and discovered that the Mekong had too many rapids and waterfalls to ever be useful for navigation(航行). From 1893, the French enlarged their control of the river into Laos until the First and Second Indochina Wars ended French involvement(介入) in the region.
The Mekong has long been regarded as the foundation of Southeast Asia's economic growth and prosperity—necessitating(使必要) cooperation between the countries. In 1995, the "Agreement on the Cooperation for the Sustainable Development of the Mekong River Basin" signed by the governments of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam formed the Mekong River Commission (MRC). The MRC facilitates(促進(jìn)) joint management of the shared water resources and cooperation on development issues. In 1996, China and Burma became Dialogue Partners of the MRC.
Today, much of the Mekong remains undeveloped and even unexplored. It is closely tied to the daily lives and culture of over 60 million people, many of whom live in poverty (貧困). However, life along the river is changing, as large dams on the river have been built with plans for many more. Many people now live and work in the towns.

Dear Sir,
Having read about your newspaper’s decision to start a campaign for protecting the environment, I decide to write you this letter.
The state of our park is very shocked, with rubbish everywhere. I was used to find a trip to the park very relaxing. Upon the arrival of spring, beautiful birds would sing happy in the park. I enjoyed this very much. Therefore, now I just find it tiring, because I have to pick up rubbish where I am going to sit. The grass is covered on plastic bags and food. I am sad that the young people of today do not clean up after themselves before he leave the park. There are so much interesting animals and insects living in our parks. It would be shame if they were destroyed because of people’s activity there.
Yours

【題目】“Our aim is to take our art to the world and make people understand what it is to move.” said David Belle, the founder of Parkour (跑酷).
Do you love running? It is a good exercise, yet many people find it boring. But what if making your morning jog a creative one? Like jumping from walls and over gaps, and ground rolls? Just like the James Bond in the movie Casino Royale? Bond jumps down from a roof to a windowsill and then runs several blocks over obstacles on the way. It is just because of Bond’s wonderful performances that the sport has become popular worldwide.
Yes, that’s Parkour, an extreme street sport aimed at moving from one point to another as quickly as possible, getting over all the obstacles in the path using only the abilities of the human body. Parkour is considered as an extreme sport. As its participants dash around a city, they may jump over fences, run up walls and even move from rooftop to rooftop.
Parkour can be just as exciting and charming as it sounds, but its participants see Parkour much more than that.
Overcoming all the obstacles on the course and in life is part of the philosophy(理念) behind Parkour. This is the same as life. You must determine your destination, go straight, jump over all the barriers as if in Parkour and never fall back from them in your life, to reach the destination successfully. A Parkour lover said, “I love Parkour because its philosophy has become my life, my way to do everything.”
Another philosophy we’ve learnt from Parkour is freedom. It can be done by anyone, at any time, anywhere in the world. It is a kind of expression of trust in yourself that you earn energy and confidence.
【1】Parkour has become popular throughout the world because of ________.
A. its founder, David Belle
B. the film Casino Royale
C. its risks and tricks

【2】The underlined word “obstacles” in Paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to “________”.
A. streets B. objects
C. barriers D. roofs
【3】As its participants moves around a city, ________.
A. they can ask for help
B. they may choose to escape
C. they should run to extremes
D. they must learn to survive
【4】Which of the following is the philosophy of Parkour?
A. Sports and extremes.
B. Excitement and popularity.
C. Dreams and success.
D. Determination and freedom.

【題目】【1】 Friendships between Americans can be close and real, yet disappear soon if situations change. Neither side feels hurt by this. Both may exchange Christmas greetings for a year or two, perhaps a few letters for a while — then no more. 【2】. This can be quite difficult for us Chinese to understand, because friendships between us develop more slowly but then may become lifelong feelings, extending (延伸) sometimes deeply into both families.
Americans are ready to receive us foreigners at their homes, share their holidays, and their home life. They will enjoy welcoming us and be pleased if we accept their hospitality (好客) easily.
There is another difficult point for us Chinese to understand. 【3】. This is usually the opposite of the practice in our country where we may be generous (慷慨)with our time. Sometimes, we, as hosts, will appear at airports even in the middle of the night to meet a friend. 【4】. The Americans, however, express their welcome usually at homes, but truly cannot manage the time to do a great deal with a visitor outside their daily routine. They will probably expect us to get ourselves from the airport to our own hotel by bus. And they expect that we will phone them from there. 【5】. We will find ourselves treated hospitably(好客).
For the Americans, it is often considered more friendly to invite a friend to their homes than to go to restaurants, except for business matters. So accept their hospitality at home!
A.Americans don’t show their politeness if it requires a great deal of time.
B.Friendships between Americans usually extend deeply into their families.
C.Americans always show their warmth even if they are very busy.
D.Once we arrive at their homes, the welcome will be full, warm and real.
E.We may take days off to act as guides to our foreign friends.
F.If the same two people meet again by chance, even years later, they pick up the friendship.
G.America is a mobile society.
