Last December 5th our class organized an activity to celebrate the International Volunteer Day.We decided to spend the day doing something for our school instead of having classes.

At the beginning of the first class in the morning,we gathered in our classroom and our monitor told us what we would do. 這句話用了賓語從句 what we would do做told的賓語.what在賓語從句中做do的賓語.
Group 4 worked in the lab where they cleaned the test tubes and put them in good order. 這句話用了定語從句,先行詞是lab在定語從句 they cleaned the test tubes and put them in good order中做地點狀語,所以用關系副詞where引導.
Having got the work done,we all felt a sense of achievement. Having got the work done.

解答 Last December 5th our class organized an activity to celebrate the International Volunteer Day.We decided to spend the afternoon doing something for our school instead of having classes.
At the beginning of the first class in the morning,we gathered in our classroom and our monitor told us what we would do.(亮點句型一)As soon as we were divided into four groups we began to work separately.I was in Group 1.My classmates and I were responsible for the security of the school. We patrolled the campus with the guard to make sure everyone was safe at school. The students of Group 2 went to the garden to take care of the plants. Some were watering the flowers and trees while the others were trimming the bush. The third group helped the cook prepare for the dishes. They washed the vegetables and cut them into small pieces.Group 4 worked in the lab where they cleaned the test tubes and put them in good order.(亮點句型二)Having got the work done,we all felt a sense of achievement.(亮點句型三)At the end of the last afternoon class we got together again in our classroom and elected the top ten volunteers for the day.【描述活動過程】
What a valuable experience I had in the high school!I'll remember it forever.

5.Life is never smooth.It's full of ups and downs,some hard times,some glad moments,and sometimes just nothing.So everyone should balance and accept all the ups and downs in life.For this,a person must think positively,which gives a person energy,motivation,power and patience to live each day.Positive thinking means you decide to be happy even though facing problems.This makes you confident so that you can live happily.
When you ask for positive and good things to occur in your life,you are thinking positively.Positive thinking is nothing but channelizing (疏導) your energies in one positive direction so that the things you wish for are attracted towards you.If you wish for something from your heart and work towards achieving it,sooner or later,you'll get it.
To make your life better,you have to train yourself to think positively in any situation.You can design some positive thinking affirmations (斷言) for the things you desire in life.For example,if you want success in life,then a positive affirmation for success could be"I'm going to be successful because I'm working hard for it".You must call out,write,or remember positive affirmations at least a couple of times throughout the day and you'll see your life changing for better.
You can form a combination between positive affirmations and imagination.For example,if you wish for a happy family,imagine that you're happily playing with your kids and spouse (配偶) with your parents looking at you all with satisfaction.It'll immediately make you feel good.You can also repeat the affirmations every morning before going out and you would certainly feel positive.However,you must link your positive affirmations to actual daily actions,and they'll surely come true.

12.Joseph Pulitzer (April 10,1847---October 29,1911)was a Hungarian-American publisher best known for establishing the Pulitzer Prizes after death.
Pulitzer was born in Mako,Hungary.At 17,Pulitzer attempted to join the Austrian army,but was turned down due to age,bad health and poor eyesight.Disappointed but still with hope,he traveled first to Paris and then to London,hoping to join the army there.And he was rejected for the same reasons.Finally,he moved to the United States in 1864and served in the Lincoln Army when he was just 18until the end of the American Civil War.After the war he settled in St.Louis,Missouri,where in 1868he started working as a reporter for a German-language daily newspaper,the Westliche Post.He joined the Republican Party and was elected to the Missouri State Assembly in 1869.
In 1872.Pulitzer bought the Westliche Post for 3,000.Then,in1879,heboughttheSt.LouisDispatchfor2,700and merged (合并) the two papers as the St.Louis Post-Dispatch,which remained St.Louis'daily newspaper.He bought the New York World in 1883,which turned out to be a successful decision,and which made Pulitzer wealthy.In 1885,he was elected to the US House of Representatives,but resigned after a few months'service.In 1895the New York World introduced the first newspaper comic printed with colour.Under Pulitzer's leadership circulation (發(fā)行量) grew from 15,000to 600,000,making it the largest newspaper in the country.But unfortunately from 1890,Pulitzer's already failing health worsened rapidly and he withdrew from direct management of the newspaper,and simply gave some instructions from his vacation houses in Maine or in New York.At the age of forty,he was struck blind,but he still continued to run his press empire for twenty-two more years.
In 1892,Pulitzer offered Columbia University's president money to set up the world's first school of journalism.But the university turned down the offer.In 1902,Columbia's new president willingly accepted the plan for a school and prizes,but it would not be until after Pulitzer's death that this dream would come true.Pulitzer left the university $2million in his will,which led to the creation in 1912of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.And up till now,Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism still remains one of the most famous in the world.
Joseph Pulitzer died aboard his sailing boat in 1911.He was buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx,New York.In 1917,the first Pulitzer Prizes were awarded,as Pulitzer wished to.
In 1989,in honor of his great achievements and contributions,Pulitzer was included in the St.Louis Walk of Fame.
