I can hard believe it, and my school life is almost over. Prom night has come and gone, and I received my high school diploma at last. That is a good thing that the exams are finished. I feel so excited to think clearly! It seems strange to think that in a few day’s time I’ll be walking out school gates forever. A first thing I’m going to do is to take a long vacation! Meanwhile, I find myself look back at my senior year, and thinking about that all the wonderful things that have happened.

1. hard→hardly

2. and→but

3. I received之間加have

4. that→it

5. so→too

6. day’s→days’

7. out 和school之間加of

8. A→The

9. look→looking

根據(jù)前句“Prom night has come and gone”為現(xiàn)在完成時時態(tài),所以and后的并列句應(yīng)保持時態(tài)一致,故要在Ireceived之間加have。

這里為主語從句,“that the exams are finished”為真正的主語應(yīng)使用形式主語it引導主語從句,故要將that改為it。

“so…to…”表示…………”,而“too…to…”

walk out表示“走出”,當后面接地點名詞時應(yīng)加介詞of,故要在outschool之間加介詞of。

第八處:考查冠詞序數(shù)詞first前應(yīng)使用冠詞the表示“第一”,故要將A改為The。

第十處:考查賓語從句第一個that本可用來引導賓語從句,但about后接的是名詞all the wonderful things,不是句子,故要去掉此處的that,而第二個that引導定語從句修飾all the wonderful things。

I just realized that while children are dogs-loyal and affectionate-teenagers are cats.

1 You feed it, train it, and boss it around. It puts its head on your knee and gazes at you as if you were a Rembrandt painting. It bounds indoors with enthusiasm when you call it. However, around age 13, your adoring little puppy(child) turns into a big old cat(teenager). Then when you tell it to come inside, it looks amazed, as if wondering who died. Instead of following your doorsteps, it disappears. 2

Not realizing that the dog is now a cat, you think something must be desperately wrong within. Since you're the one who raised it, you assume that you did something wrong. Now you're dealing with a cat. Filled with guilt and fear, you redouble your efforts to make your pet behave. 3 Call it, and it runs way. Tell it to sit, and it jumps on the counter.

Instead of continuing to act like a dog owner, you can learn to behave like a cat owner. Put a dish of food near the door, and let it come to you. 4 You sit still, and it will come, seeking that warm, comforting lap it has not entirely forgotten. Be there to open the door for it. One day your grown-up child will walk into the kitchen, give you a big kiss and say, "You've been working hard all day. Let me get those dishes for you."5

A. It's so easy to be a dog owner.

B. Children as cats can turn to their parents.

C. You won't see it again until it gets hungry.

D. Then you'll realize your cat is a dog again.

E. Teenagers can understand and appreciate their parents' love.

F. But remember that a cat needs your help and your affection, too.

Everyone has a dream. We are on the way to achieve it whether the way is smooth or toughly. As senior 2 student, I have the same dream as my classmates that I can be admitted to an ideal university. In the past 2 years, I have done everything I can to equip myself with that I have learnt from my teachers. Not only have I enjoyed the pleasures of study but also I have got closer to my dream. Anxiety and pressure did discourage from me at times. Besides, with the encouragement of my teachers and classmates, I think I’ll make it.

I’m sure that there has still a long way to go to achieve my dream. No matter how challenged it is, I’ll make it come true. As the proverb said,“Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

When milk arrived on the doorstep

When I was a boy growing up in New Jersey in the 1960s, we had a milkman delivering milk to our doorstep. His name was Mr. Basille. He wore a white cap and drove a white truck. As a 5-year-old boy, I couldn’t take my eyes off the coin changer fixed to his belt. He noticed this one day during a delivery and gave me a quarter out of his coin changer.

Of course, he delivered more than milk. There was cheese, eggs and so on. If we needed to change our order, my mother would pen a note-“Please add a bottle of buttermilk next delivery”-and place it in the box along with the empty bottles. And then, the buttermilk would magically appear.

All of this was about more than convenience. There existed a close relationship between families and their milkmen. Mr. Basille even had a key to our house, for those times when it was so cold outside that we put the box indoors, so that the milk wouldn’t freeze. And I remember Mr. Basille from time to time taking a break at our kitchen table, having a cup of tea and telling stories about his delivery.

There is sadly no home milk delivery today. Big companies allowed the production of cheaper milk, thus making it difficult for milkmen to compete. Besides, milk is for sale everywhere, and it may just not have been practical to have a delivery service.

Recently, an old milk box in the countryside I saw brought back my childhood memories. I took it home and planted it on the back porch (門廊). Every so often my son’s friends will ask what it is. So I start telling stories of my boyhood, and of the milkman who brought us friendship along with his milk.

1Mr Basille gave the boy a quarter out of his coin changer____.

A. to show his magical power. B. to pay for the delivery

C. to satisfy his curiosity. D. to please his mother.

2What can be inferred from the fact that the milkman had the key to the boy’s house?

A. He wanted to have tea there.

B. He was a respectable person.

C. He was treated as a family member.

D. He was fully trusted by the family.

3Why does home milk delivery no longer exist?

A. Nobody wants to be a milkman now.

B. It has been driven out of the market.

C. Its service is getting poor.

D. It is forbidden by law.

4Why did the author bring back home an old milk box?

A. He missed the good old days.

B. He wanted to tell interesting stories.

C. He missed it for his milk bottles.

D. He planted flowers in it.

The 23-year-old British singer released his first solo single called Sign of the Times. His self-titled album (個人同名專輯) is coming out on May 12.

Going solo is a journey for him to find his identity (身份). Though at the time, he was uncertain about his future, he kept a word in his mind - “honesty”. “I didn’t want to write ‘stories’,” he told Rolling Stone. “I wanted to write my stories, things that happened to me. He is indeed full of stories since beginning his solo career. Last fall, he spent two months recording on a remote island in Jamaica (牙買加).Along with some musicians, he filled a two-floor house with instruments. They hung out at the bar that looked like a tree house. Many mornings began with a swim in the river down the hill. They watched many romantic comedies. Styles always held a black notebook and looked like a college student who was studying, Rolling Stone reported.

His coming album is about rock music. In fact, he grew up with it. His father Desmond was a rock music fan. When Styles was very young, he danced to The Dark Side of the Moon, a classic song by British rock band Pink Floyd. “I couldn’t really get it. But I just remember (thinking that) this is really cool.”

Harry said, “At the very beginning, all I wanted was to be the granddad with the best stories.” Surely, now he is on the right track (軌道).
