On Oct4,2011 , I phone 4s made its international appearance at the press conference claimed by the Iphone cooperation . Ever since then , Iphone4s has become a hot cake and even made a fashion around the globe. Meanwhile , many new expressions come about in relationship with this type of high-tech products. “Jailbreak” is one of them.

“ Jailbreak” means to unlock the operating system of a mobile phone or other device so that it can run software which it is not normally authorized to use because of restrictions imposed(實施) by the device's manufacturer.

If someone jailbreaks a smartphone, tablet computer or other device(設(shè)備), they use a special piece of software in order to remove the restrictions imposed by the manufacturer on the kind of applications that can be downloaded and run on the device. The concept of jailbreaking is most often associated with products from Apple Inc, such as the iPhone, iPod and iPad, which routinely restrict the user to applications licensed exclusively(獨家地) by Apple and purchased via its App Store. As well as wanting to lift the restriction(解除限制) on what kinds of applications they can purchase, those who jailbreak often do so as a reaction against what they consider as a form of censorship(監(jiān)控) imposed by Apple Inc in only allowing the use of their 'approved' apps.

The concept of jailbreaking dates back to July 2007, when it was applied to the iPhone within a month of the device's first release. This first occurrence related to the adding of custom ringtones(個性鈴音), but the idea quickly developed as a means to lift the restriction and equip the phone with games and other applications not licensed by Apple Inc.

1.“jailbreak” means that________________.

A. Criminals escape out of the jail

B. People make a great breakthrough in their life

C. It is a way to lift the restriction specially imposed by the Iphone manufacturer.

D. It’s a breakthrough beyond one’s dream.

2.Which is probably the correct Chinese meaning of a hot cake?

A.熱蛋糕 B. 搶手貨 C. 熱門話題 D. 最高禮遇

3.Which one is the correct statement from this passage?

B. People jailbreak not only in order to lift the restrictions of applications licensed by the Iphone Cooperation.

C. The concept of jailbreak is seldom associated with products from Apple Inc

D. The concept of jailbreak dates back to the twentieth century

Over the last six years I have learned what patience is. Growing up I did not have this virtue(優(yōu)點)and it is a very important virtue to have. Now I can see that if you are patient you will almost always get what you want if you are supposed to have it. I gained patience when I lost my freedom. I knew that I would eventually get it back in time.

I was locked up in prison for a period of six years because at 19 years old I was playing with a handgun and I accidentally shot and killed my friend. The first couple of years was the hardest.I was always stressed out about everything.Time was dragging by because I was always paying attention to it.While I was locked up,Tom who I talked to helped put this virtue in me.He told me that it was possible that he would never make it home but that being patient and believing that one day he would was what had made him feel better. After a while I realized why he said a lot of things to me.Once I stopped paying attention to the days and just kept in mind that I would get freedom,it seemed that my time passed quickly.

Now I am home and can see that patience paid off for me. I now use this virtue in my daily activities. I know that sometimes life gets hard and that it will pay in the end to stay patient and not to get discouraged. Do you know that over ten million American kids go to camp every summer? 1. Back then, before the air conditioner was invented, hot city summers were uncomfortable and even unhealthy for children, so escaping to the country for a few weeks became a popular trend.

Today, kids have different reasons for making camp a part of their lives, such as:

To meet new people

Camp might give you a chance to be with people from different states, or even different countries. It’s a great way to make new friends and learn about different places and cultures. We liked to swim in the pool a lot.”

To challenge yourself

3. Fresh challenges — like trying new sports, learning new crafts and games, or pushing yourself to achieve something — can be very rewarding. Take it from Arabella, 13, who told us: “ I went to summer camp and I passed my swimming test! I can hardly swim, so it was a big accomplishment (成就). 4. ”

To appreciate nature

There’s a great big natural world out there, and going to camp helps you learn how beautiful and important it really is. 5. Getting out into the woods or mountains can give you a better understanding of how the web of life works.

科目:高中英語 來源:2015屆河北省高三開學(xué)英語試卷考試(解析版) 題型:閱讀理解

When you make a mistake, big or small, cherish it like it’s the most precious thing in the world. Because in some ways, it is.

Most of us feel bad when we make mistakes, beat ourselves up about it, feel like failures, get mad at ourselves.

And that’s only natural: most of us have been taught from a young age that mistakes are bad, that we should try to avoid mistakes. We’ve been scolded when we make mistakes—at home, school and work. Maybe not always, but probably enough times to make feeling bad about mistakes an unconscious reaction.

Yet without mistakes, we could not learn or grow. If you think about it that way, mistakes should be cherished and celebrated for being one of the most amazing things in the world: they make learning possible; they make growth and improvement possible.

By trial and error—trying things, making mistakes, and learning from those mistakes—we have figured out how to make electric light, to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, to fly.

Mistakes make walking possible for the smallest toddler, make speech possible, make works of genius possible.

Think about how we learn: we don’t just consume information about something and instantly know it or know how to do it. You don’t just read about painting, or writing, or computer programming, or baking, or playing the piano, and know how to do them right away. Instead, you get information about something, from reading or from another person or from observing, then you make mistakes and repeat, making mistakes, learning from those mistakes, until you’ve pretty much learned how to do something. That’s how we learn as babies and toddlers, and how we learn as adults. Mistakes are how we learn to do something new—because if you succeed at something, it’s probably something you already knew how to do. You haven’t really grown much from that success—at most it’s the last step on your journey, not the whole journey. Most of the journey was made up of mistakes, if it’s a good journey.

So if you value learning, if you value growing and improving, then you should value mistakes. They are amazing things that make a world of brilliance possible.

1.Why do most of us feel bad about making mistakes?

A. Because mistakes make us suffer a lot.

B. Because it’s a natural part in our life.

C. Because we’ve been taught so from a young age.

D. Because mistakes have ruined many people’s careers.

2.According to the passage, what is the right attitude to mistakes?

A. We should try to avoid making mistakes.

B. We should owe great inventions mainly to mistakes.

C. We should treat mistakes as good chances to learn.

D. We should make feeling bad about mistakes an unconscious reaction.

3.The underlined word “toddler” in Paragraph 6 probably means .

A. a small child learning to walk

B. a kindergarten child learning to draw

C. a primary pupil learning to read

D. a school teenager learning to write

4.We can learn from the passage that .

A. most of us can really grow from success

B. growing and improving are based on mistakes

C. we learn to make mistakes by trial and error

D. we read about something and know how to do it right away
