“It was +一段時(shí)間 since....” 故把after改為 since。

“take an active in...” 故把a改為an。

Not only did they improved their English, but also they brought them a lot of funs是把not only置于句首的部分倒裝,本句是一般過去時(shí),倒裝時(shí)要把助動(dòng)詞did提到主語they的前面,所以improve不能再用過去時(shí),因?yàn)闀r(shí)態(tài)已用did體現(xiàn)了。

Join inin

A lady placed her clock at the bed, and every day she found herself awaking by a long sound. She arose at once, and felt better all day for her early rising. This lasted for weeks. The alarm clock faithfully do its duty. But, after the time, the lady grew tired of it. When she heard its sound, she merely turned over in bed, and was slept again. The clock spoke just loudly as ever; but she did not hear it.

So it is of conscience. If we will obey its voice, even in the tiny things, we can always hear it, clearly and strong. But if we allow us to do that may not be quite right, we shall grow more and more sleepy, until the voice of conscience has no longer powers to wake us.

Putting children in daycare helps working parents take their minds off childcare. 1

How daycare negatively affects children is related to many factors. One study has suggested that some children who spend long hours in daycare centers experience more stress than those who spend more time in a setting with a mother.

Another study has shown that children who are shy have a higher level of the hormone cortisol (皮質(zhì)醇) which is released when an individual shows signs of stress. 2 And as a result the child may not mix well with the other children and the teachers at the daycare center, a situation that can cause stress.

Another negative impact of daycare is that there is less communication between a mother and her child. 3 So it is essential for a child to develop a deep bond with his or her mother, since this will lay the foundation for all the relationships he or she will form later on in life. Children who spend a lot of time with their mothers experience healthy social and emotional development, while long hours in daycare can disrupt this bonding. Children who lose out on precious mother-child bonding are observed to have behavioral problems as they grow older.

Children in daycare centers also feel unprotected compared to children at home. In a daycare center, when one caregiver attends to more than one child at the same time, she may not be able to look deeply into why a child is mixing well or not. 4 Another negative aspect of daycare is that children there are more likely to fall ill if they come in contact with sick children.

5 Well-maintained daycare centers contribute a great deal to the overall development of a child by providing a structured environment. Children become more social by interacting with other children of the same age, and learn new activities that are not always available if they arc brought up only at home.

A.But daycare has its disadvantages.

B.Look for a daycare center that is well-maintained.

C.However, the advantages of daycare cannot be ignored.

D.This is because a shy child will not open up freely in public.

E.Babies become extremely attached to their primary caregivers.

F.In such cases, a child may become either completely quiet or aggressive.

G.You can cut the time in daycare centers by making alternative childcare arrangements.

The true Olympic spirit has been displayed by Canadian cross-country ski coach Justin Wadsworth, who helped Russian athlete Anton Gafarov with his broken ski during the Men’s Sprint Free Semifinals.

Gafarov’s start wasn't smooth. He fell three times, crashing early in the race and breaking his ski. It was clear that Gafarov was out of the race for the men's finals and wouldn't be able to compete for medals. However, the Russian's fall was seen by Canadian coach Justin Wadsworth, who immediately ran on to the course and helped Gafarov. “I went over and gave him one of Alex Harvey's, a member of the Canadian team who didn’t qualify for the finals. It was about giving Gafarov some dignity so he didn't have to walk to the finish area,” Wadsworth said. “We help because we know everyone works so hard in our sport,” says Wadsworth, who was an Olympic skier for the S before becoming a coach. “Everyone wants fair results. It was a matter of allowing Gafarov to finish the race.”

Gafarov was thoughtful about his performance. “My fall cost me a broken ski and a pole,” said Anton Gafarov, adding that he decided to continue fighting for the finals despite all the difficulties.

Gafarov believed the race should be finished in any way possible. “It was a matter of principle to hold on to the end,” he added. He is not devastated (毀滅) by his failure and is eager to take part in the next Winter Olympics despite back problems due to injuries.
