4.Organic food,grown without artificial chemicals,is increasingly popular nowadays.Consumers have been willing to pay up to twice as much for goods with organic labels.However,if you think paying a little more for organic food gets you a more nutritiousand safer product,you might want to save your money.A study led by researchers at Stanford University says that organic products aren't necessarily more nutritious,and they're no less likely to suffer from disease-causing bacteria,either.
The latest results,published in the Annuals of Internal Medicine,suggest that buyers may be wasting their money."We did not find strong evidence that organic food is more nutritious or healthier,"says Dr.Crystal Smith-Spangler from Stanford."So consumers shouldn't assume that one type of food has a lower risk or is safer."
For their new study,Smith-Spangler and her colleagues conducted a review of two categories of research,including 17studies that compared health outcomes between consumers of organic against traditional food products,and 223studies that analyzed the nutritional content of the foods,including key vitamins,minerals and fats.
While the researchers found little difference in nutritional content,they did find that organic fruit and vegetables were 20% less likely to have chemicals remaining on the surfaces.Neither organic nor traditional foods showed levels of chemicals high enough to go beyond food safety standards.And both organic and traditional meats,such as chicken and pork,were equally likely to be harmed by bacteria at very low rates.The researchers did find that organic milk and chicken contained higher levels of omega-3fatty acids,a healthy fat also found in fish that can reduce the risk of heart disease.However,these nutritional differences were too small,and the researchers were unwilling to make much of them until further studies confirm the trends.
Organic food is produced with fewer chemicals and more natural-growing practices,but that doesn't always translate into a more nutritious or healthier product.The U.S.Department of Agriculture (USDA) states that"whether you buy organic or not,finding the freshest foods available may have the biggest effect on taste."Fresh food is at least as good as anything marketed as organic.

12:D 細(xì)節(jié)理解題 答案在第二段第二句,"we didn't find strong evidence that organic food is more nutritious or healthier",本題定位在第二段第一句的"latest result",與題干"the new research"對應(yīng).
The researchers did find that organic milk and chicken contained higher levels of omega-3 acids,a healthy fat also found in fish that can reduce the risk of heart disease."可知有機(jī)奶和有機(jī)雞肉更健康,故答案為B
15:A 推理判斷題 作者在第一段提出人們不值得花過多的錢去買有機(jī)食品,以及最后一段引用USDA 美國農(nóng)業(yè)部的觀點(diǎn)"whether you buy organic food or not, finding the freshest foods available may have the biggest effect on taste"以及最后一句可看出作者是質(zhì)疑的態(tài)度,故答案為A

9.You may know the English letters A,B and C.But do you know there are people called ABC?You may like eating bananas.But did you know there is such thing as a"banana person"?How strange!Are these people from"another earth"?No.They are just Chinese people like you and me.
ABC means American-born Chinese.An ABC is a Chinese,but was born in the United States.Sometimes,people call an ABC a"banana person".A banana is yellow outside and white inside.So,when a person is a banana,he or she is white inside-thinking like a Westerner and yellow outside-looking like a Chinese.

16.Perhaps you think you could easily add to your happiness with more money.Strange as it may seem,if you're unsatisfied,the issue is not a lack of means(方式) to meet your desires but a lack of desires-not that you cannot satisfy your tastes but that you don't have enough tastes.
Real riches consist of well-developed and hearty capacities(能力) to enjoy life.Most people are already swamped(淹沒) with things.They eat,wear,go and talk too much.They live in too big a house with too many rooms, yet their house of life is a hut.
Your house of life ought to be a mansion(豪宅),a royal palace.Every new taste,every additional interest,every fresh enthusiasm(熱心,熱情) adds a room.Here are several rooms your house of life should have.
Art should be a desire for you to develop simply because the world is full of beautiful things.If you only understood how to enjoy them and feed your spirit on them,they would make you as happy as to find plenty of hamburgers and eggs when you're hungry.
Literature,classic literature,is a beautiful,richly furnished room where you might find many an hour of rest and refreshment.To gain that love would go toward making you a rich person,for a rich person is not someone who has a library but someone who likes a library.
Music like Mozart's and Bach's shouldn't be absent.Real riches are of the spirit.And when you've brought that spirit up to where classical music feeds it and makes you a little drunk,you have increased your thrills and bettered them.And life is a matter of thrills.
Sports,without which you remain poor,mean a lot in life.No matter who you are,you would be more human,and your house of life would be better supported against the bad days,if you could,and did,played a bit.
Whatever rooms you might add to your house of life, the secret of enjoying life is to keep adding.

29.The underlined sentence in the second paragraph probably implies thatB.
A.though materially rich, they never seem to be satisfied
B.though materially rich, they remain spiritually poor
C.though their house is big, they prefer a simple life
D.though their house is big,it seems to be a cage
30.It can be learned from the passage thatC.
A.more money brings more happiness
B.a(chǎn)rt is needed to make your house beautiful
C.literature can enrich your spiritual life
D.sports contribute mainly to your physical fitness
31.What would be the best title for the passage?D
A.Interest and Enthusiasm
B.Secret of Wealth
C.Rest and Refreshment
D.House of Life.
