Last year, I went to Australia for a short-term study like an international student. Hariyati from Indonesia shared a kind of cookie what was shaped like elephant ears. Susan from South Africa prepared some sweep dumplings packed in several banana leaf. Chiemi from Japan cooked special rice balls mixing with fish. And I was served Daoxiao noodles, my hometown—Shanxi’s local food. These variously foods were all delicious. Therefore, my favorite was still Chinese food.

Sit Quietly. The process of developing spiritual intelligence begins with solitude(獨處) and silence. Step Outside. For many people, nature sets their spirit free. Go outside to watch a beautiful sunset. If you are walking with the dog, take the time to admire flowers in bloom; follow the flight of a bird and watch clouds float overhead.

Ask Questions of Yourself. Ask open-ended questions, such as ‘What am I Feeling? What are my choices? Where am I heading?’

But don’t expect an answer to arrive through some supernatural forms of e-mail. ‘Rarely do I get an immediate answer to my question,’ says Reverend Joan Carter, a Presbyterian minister in Sausalito, California. ‘But later that day I suddenly find myself thinking about a problem in a perspective(角度) I never considered before.’

Trust Your Spirit. While most of us rely on gut(本能的) feeling to realize danger, spiritual intelligence pushes us, not away from, but towards some action that will lead to a greater good.

Spider monkeys have long, thin arms with hooklike hands that allow them to swing through the trees. They do not have opposable thumbs(對生拇指).

They were named spider monkeys because they look like spiders as they hang upside down from their tails with arms and legs swinging. Their genus (屬)name is Ateles, which means “imperfect”. This refers to the fact that they don’t have thumbs.

Hunting the brown-headed spider monkey is now barred in Ecuador, a country in northwestern South America, but humans have killed them for their meat for hundreds of years.
