Unlike most of the flight I’ve taken on this trip, the journey from Melbourne to Sydney was thankful short. One hour! It’s much more hotter here in Sydney than in Melbourne, it is strange because I travel from south to north instead of north to south. Things really are upside down below the equator(赤道).

The Sydney Festival is fascinated, and I’m having a marvelous time go to all the art and film shows. It’s going on all mouth, and there’s so much to choose. Best of all, it’s not just in one location, but all over the city, because it’s a great way for me to explore Sydney.

Hope you’re having as many fun in Asia!

【1】第一段第一句Unlike most of the flight I’ve taken on this trip,句中flight航班是可數(shù)名詞,前有most of大部分的,航班應(yīng)用復(fù)數(shù)形式,故 flight---flights

【2】第一段第一句the journey from Melbourne to Sydney was thankful short,本句中short是形容詞,thankful也是形容詞,形容詞是不能修飾形容詞的,只有副詞可以修飾形容詞,故. thankful---thankfully

【3】第一段第二句It’s much more hotter here,hot是單音節(jié)形容詞,變比較級只需雙寫t加er即可,多音節(jié)形容詞變比較級時才需加more,故去掉more

【4】第一段第二句 It’s much more hotter here in Sydney than in Melbourne, it is strange because …,本句中前句為一個完整的句子,后句也是一個完整的句子,但是沒有連接詞,是不行的,故要將it---which使其成為非限制性定語從句,故it---which

【題目】 We all want to be successful in our work. But what happens when our achievements come at the risk of losing important friendships? If your friends didn't receive what they were hoping for, your success could make them feel like they've been “l(fā)eft in the dust”. But does that mean that we shouldn't enjoy our achievements in case we displease someone or that we should feel sorry for being successful when others aren't?

Those of us who value friendships and close working relationships might feel embarrassed for achieving more than our friends. But we deserve our success, and nothing should take it away. Jealousy is only natural, but It’s often unreasonable, too. Your success is probably not connected with your friends' progress, so you shouldn't feel bad about achieving your goals. If your friends stay unfriendly, don’t be afraid to keep yourself away from them. You are not responsible for their weaknesses, and nor should they treat you sharply for furthering your work.

On the other hand, your friends may think highly of your recent success while hiding their real feelings. They could be jealous, angry or sad that they are not progressing at the same rate. So, be careful not to boast. It's a thin line between pride and self-importance, and by crossing the line, you may risk losing team support.

Next time you want to boast about your end-of-year win, or high-class new office, consider your listeners. Maybe your friends narrowly missed out on a position-raising, or experienced pay cuts which meant they didn't get what they were expecting. If your work is on a rising path, it doesn't mean that's the case for everyone.

Perhaps a step forward in your work has meant that you don't spend as much time with your friends as you used to. If you've changed a post or moved to a new office, take the time to stay in touch with old friends. Chances are that in the build-up to your success you've built strong relationships along the way. Don't let that hard work go to waste by losing touch with them.

1From the first two paragraphs, it can be inferred that ________.

【題目】Kang Heng, 16, hasn’t been sleeping well in a tent the past couple of nights. Closing his eyes only brings repeated terror from all that happened and, worse still, all that could have happened at around 2:30 pm last Monday.

The student in Dongcheng High School in Mianyang, Sichuan Province was on his way to class after an afternoon nap(小睡) when the big earthquake hit the area.

“It’s a complete shock! As soon as I heard someone screaming Earthquake! I saw our classroom building being torn apart just in front of my eyes. The next second I saw a student jumping out of the window from the second floor, Tang recalled.

A great loss—Shirley Temple dies at 85

February 12, 2014

BY DERRIK J. LANG, Associated Press

Shirley Temple Black, who died on February 10th at age 85, wasn’t just a child star. She was THE child star—the sweet little girl whose shining smile helped illumine some of the darkest days the US has known during the Great Depression.

It’s hard today to imagine the super star Shirley was once “America’s Little Darling”. She sang and danced her way to the top of the box office in such films as Bright Eyes, Curly Top and Heidi. By 1940, she had appeared in 43 films. Temple teamed with Bill Robison in four movies, and their dance on the stairs in The Little Colonel is still a legendary film moment.

In the 1930s, her name on a movie introduction assured (保證) a packed house. She inspired dolls, dresses, dishes—even a drink (alcohol-free, of course).

US President Franklin D. Roosevelt once famously said that “as long as our country has Shirley Temple, we will be all right.’’

Unlike so many of today’s child stars, Temple didn’t end up with her name appearing across the headlines for bad behaviors. Instead of getting her photos on front pages or struggling with drugs and alcohol, Temple went on to a second career in diplomacy (外), including presidential appointments as ambassador to Ghana.

She surprised a lot of people who doubted her with her grace, knowledge and eagerness to serve. In fact, her career in public service (20 years) was longer than her career in movies (19). The role she valued most, however, was as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

The world has lost a treasured Hollywood legend. But her movies will allow that little dynamic figure to continue charming audiences for a very long time.

1The word “illumine” in Paragraph 1 means _______.

A. shorten B. sweeten

C. strengthen D. brighten

2Temple, as a child movie star, can best be described as _______.

A. sweet and lively B. gentle and kind

C. smart and knowledgeable D. shy and attractive

3What part did she regard as the most important in her life?

A. A top movie star. B. A businesswoman.

C. Her family role. D. Her diplomacy career.

4Where does this passage possibly come from?

A. A biography. B. A newspaper.

C. A magazine. D. A poster.
